  • In this episode I am once again joined by Lama Glenn Mullin - Tibetologist, translator, and Tantric Buddhist meditation teacher, who studied for many years in Dharmsala with the Dalai Lama’s own gurus.
In our last conversation, way back in Episode 9, we talked all about this fascinating period of Glenn’s life. We ended that podcast just beginning to touch on the inner yogas of Tantric Buddhism.
In this episode we dive deeper into the completion stage practices as we discuss tummo (tsa lung tigle), the balancing of the male and female energies, clear light yoga, and we enter the realms of karmamudra, or ‘Tantric sex’, as it is presented in the Six Yogas of Naropa.

35:08 - Maleness = ability to effectively intervene in worldly activities. (Responsive side) (Strong Male side) Femaleness = Ability to experience the beauty, magic, and wonder. (Wisdom, experience side) (Sensitive Female side)
38:59 - The karmic winds (energy) travels with us from lifetime to lifetime and always in state of fluctuation. Deepest level of consciousness is the eternal radiance of the soul. (not individual soul, but God consciousness, godhead, background consciousness, radiance, movie screen of the drama of our lives and the 6 bardos.
49:44 - Sneezing "achoo" there is a sort of bliss at the end, a sort of stretching into infinity.
54:11 - Sexual occasion is when the natural radiance of the soul shines through without any effort. More accessible than tip of a sneeze or when going to sleep. Cuz you can't control sneezing, and you sleep when you're sleepy. Using sex is kama mudra. Maha Mudra is easiest - Just noticing the natural flow of the body and how it has its own playful quality, etc.
    Sutrayana as basis, then mahamudra/dzogchen.
58:21 - Real life example of how it transformed some worker guy.
1:00:48 - In a way every bodliy form is beautiful. Femaleness of appreciating the people in the room changed the situation. (Female side of noticing beauty and appreciating the sensual fullness of each moment)
1:02:15 - Mahayana/Sutrayana = love and compassion. Tantra = Adds humor to it. Expression of buddha nature.
1:06:00 - Things always have a chance of going wrong. (Car accidents, choking on peanuts, dying by tripping on your pet)
1:12:30 - Lay people make love. So if you're gonna make love. Might as well do it in a spiritual way. Not in a way that will make you loose energy. Not in a way that it's just a pleasure past time like any other pleasure past time.
1:13:44 - In Buddhism celibacy is not simply “not having sex”. It's not having sex on the basis of delusion and as a casual escapist tactic from the humdrum quality of everyday life. Hinayama Vow superceded by Boddhisattva vow. All hinayama, mahayama, boddhisattva vows superseded by Tantra precepts.
1:15:07 - kama mudra done from the primordial radiance of clear light mind. Comes out as sambhogakaya buddha. Emerges from that in the form of a mandala deity and one's body is now the body of a God. Not done from the body of a regular person.
1:16:00 - There will always be literalist interpretation of vows.
    1:18:30 - reiterating 1:13:44
1:41:12 - Tantra as flow of life and bringing enlightened being in every action.
