I've seen this exact video too many times and I love it every time. I'm so glad that this got recorded. I was there watching this as a Junior about to be a senior. I remembered a snare player being on his cell phone
@@trap4dafu2k0fit Won what lol??? BD smoked them by over a point and a half finals night. Cavies didn't take ONE CAPTION over BD. Thats like saying the football team that loses 42-0 was the better team LMAO. You like Spin Cycle better. That's totally fine as you are entitled to your opinion. IMO Spin Cycle was an absolute monster of a show. I loved it. But BD was on a different level and saying Cavies was better in 2003 is laughable. Don't forget to use dryer sheets!
@@johnolson5538 I mean, yes, if barely. Are you seeing the color guard? This guard is incredible. And this show does a great job of selling the concept, as simple as it is. Those arrangements are killer and the ballad really captures the vibe of the cool era while also plaining laying out "drum corps cool". Having been in the audience that night, I can say that this show pulled the audience into it in a way that not many other shows that night had. Besides, from a G.E. perspective we're going to say that Devs and Cavies were both better than Phantom? C'mon. The top 3 is a judging crapshoot (and a nightmare) and it's almost always anybody's game based on who is more "on" and if the panel has the ears and eyes to reward it. At the top of the class, design is much less of a factor than whether the kids are killing it or not. To my eyes and ears, Cavies played out of tune way more often and could not execute the visual demand. In the end, if the execution isn't there, then demand doesn't matter. That said, Spin Cycle was ahead of its time, and would probably be far better received by audiences of the '10s than the audiences of the '00s. Devs 2003 is one of the definitive shows of the '90s era of design.
@@trap4dafu2k0fit Spin cycle is definitely the better show but Cavies were not nearly on the level of BD that night. The Cav's guard was especially sloppy if you go back and watch their finals performance. It definitely would've been cool to see Cavies 5 peat though lol
So glad someone clicked on a camera for this. MAGIC!

i was right there on the 50 in the front row for that encore so loud
Scotty D! Thanks for uploading this man. That was a hell of a summer
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!
8:03 ok this is how we know it was 2003
My god flip phones really are an artifact nowadays. I remember having a candy bar phone myself like 10 years ago
Haha that’s great
You may laugh but for 03, that was pretty advance Illuminati technology for the time.
Scott, you are the GOAT.
God, devs were badass back in the day. Shows just seemed to have a swagger I can’t find anymore.
Cavaliers spin cycle should have won. On that note, I got some laundry to do. A good day to you sir, I SAID , GOOD DAY!

I'm a tuba player but I'm learning trumpet because of Scott Dean
How did it go?
@EssxEnergy Still learning of course, but it's great I love it. Doing a lot better than when I first started
@@myname-isvincent5683 nice dude
Wait...like solo soprano Scott dean?
That's me, but we switched from sopranos to trumpets in 2000
'95 Scouts called. They want their ballad back....
Finders keepers
I was three months old then!
Thanks
Such a great show!
This is so cool, but can you make a video on how to improve and mature tone. I in tune but I have bad tone.
What mute is being used at 8:13? Also love the show, def one of my favorites!
looks like a harmon without the plunger
8:47 LMAO
Teach me your ways

11 years before their felini show.
Good catch!
BD references their own shows all the time
What ever happened to the guy who tried to mess you up? Did he get in trouble or was it laughed off?
No he didn't get in trouble. It was totally cool.
@@scottcdean What did he whisper is the true question
@@markyochoaright? I’ve replayed it so many times for a good laugh
Hey Scotty! Put a contact email address in the ABOUT section so cool peeps from CHS/etc can reach out to you if they lost your phone number!
What did that guy whisper in your ear
That is a good question

How did you practice for shakes on notes? I’m trying to learn it for some jazz solos I have and I just can’t get the right sound, any tips?
