- Apple & Onion aired its final episode on Cartoon Network, but it wasn't supposed to end. Apple & Onion's creator George Gendi revealed this unfortunate news on Twitter. Why did Cartoon Network decide to cancel the show out of nowhere? What happens next for the channel?
Cartoon Network's modern era includes shows like Craig of the Creek, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart, Teen Titans Go, Victor & Valentino, and what used to be Apple & Onion. Despite this cancellation, there's a lot to look forward to! Adventure Time is getting a brand new spinoff with Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. The Amazing World of Gumball is returning with a new Gumball movie and series. There's also Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, from Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky! This is the end for Apple & Onion, but the start of something new too.

Sadly, this isn’t the only time this has happened. Clarence was such a great show and was really underrated, but CN decided to cancel it
I loved Clarence. When i watched it, i really felt like it understood what kids are actually like.

The ending did feel rushed
NOOOO this was such a good show. A lot of random humour and strange situations (like the episode where Apple and Onion enter a dream and see a giant food-eating baby, that was pretty dark). I kinda wish we had a movie of it :(
Why they cancel this
I've never watched the show before. I'll admit the animation style turned me off on it. But I'm willing to give it shot! Haven't watched an original Cartoon network show in YEARS. And if it's as good as people say, then CN REALLY screwed up this time

I met the creator and one of the character designers, I haven’t watched a whole lot of it in recent years honestly! But I remember finding it really funny and I did enjoy it

Animation is still something important that can’t just be overlooked. It sucks that something with potential got canceled, but I justify with the people that didn’t watch it cause of the art style.

In terms of everything (including voice acting and animation) I loved the show. I loved the style of the show and the voice acting, and writing. This appealed to me a lot, and probably my second favorite comedy out of Cartoon Network (first being regular show)

Cartoon Network is no longer like how it was back than ever since Pokemon moved to Disney Channel and the rise of the horrible Teen Titans Go. The shows we get now on Cartoon Network is just too kid friendly
It's just sucks. Regular show had someone pissing season 1 ep1 and that show was good. Also they cancelled that cat show what was somewhat ok but to friendly

Me and my brother both loved the show, at least for the first season. It was random, it was clever, and it was downright hilarious. The characters had, well, character, and we wanted to see them interact more.
But we both watched the series devolve before our eyes. Season 2 marked a change in the series. Their comedy shifted to a more "laugh at the MC's pain" sort of style like Tom and Jerry, and it just wasn't fun to watch anymore. They took out the good opening and replaced it with an awkward skit that exemplified how every episode ends: with their suffering. Seriously, for the so-called "perfect team", Apple and Onion hardly get along! And it wasn't them either. Falafel became stricter, patty became bossier, etc. This change was like a speedrun of original Spongebob to modern Spongebob. The changes in Apple and Patrick are very similar now thinking about it. They went from a well written character and friend to little sh**s who screwed over their best friends with their horrendously cliche stupidity. Apple is actually ruining onions dream from the begging of the show: make friends. In the art that goes through the video 1:21 , you can see how the entire cast is in shock by Apple and Onion or are angry at them, how onion is scared and never wanted this, and how Apple is still happy, not feeling any consequences. If it were to go on like this, I would wish for its end.
I would never wish for Apple and Onions cancelation though. It still deserved a proper goodbye. It followed a very translucent line for a timeline, but it existed. Just like the amazing world of gumball, there was some story. In Apple and Onion, that was the story of building friendships, the community, the dollar store, and more. They definitely could've added more as well, like In big city greens with chip whistlers story. But they didn't, and now never will. Rest in compost Apple and Onion. Shall your season 1 comedy live on.
I actually think season 2 was better, but I agree changing the opening and most episodes ending the same way was terrible.

I agree with this as another avid fan of the show and think season one was great as opposed to the lackluster season 2

I don't think there are too many "laugh at the main characters pain" episodes, Truffle Season is a good example of it but it had some decent jokes and the MCs torture wasn't the only thing in those jokes (aside the ending).
Summer camp island is another one i wish i saw more people talking about. Both of the shows didn't get as much love as they deserve.
I gave a lot of chances to Summer Camp Island and... At the beginning it was meh, but it got worse after the first season.

This was such a great and severly underrated cartoon. I will miss this show a lot.
I thought the series was gonna last longer, but not every TV show lasts longer.

This show really does deserve more respect and it wasn’t my cup of tea but it was a good show once and a while but to see it go is really really sad because honestly that was the best show on the program since gumball ended

Onion's Voice actor voiced a Character from a British🇬🇧 show called 'Strange Hill High', and yes his Voice actor is from the UK🇬🇧.

I honestly really loved this show. I watched it every chance I could get. I'm honestly really sad that Cartoon Network has cancelled it. There's nothing wrong with watching old episodes, but it just doesn't feel the same. Goodbye, Apple and Onion, you served the channel well.

As a person who has become a Apple and Onion OG i loved the show with my heart and when i heard it was cancelled it hit me in the soul may its legacy live on
I loved Apple and Onion (including the art) and I was heartbroken hearing that it was cancelled. It was one of the only cartoons that actually captured my humour.
Honestly, I thought the show was cancelled sooner since I barely hear people talk about it. I'll admit I barely watched much of this show, but from what I did, it was pretty good. Not show-stopping by any means, but it was still a really nice, casual watch and I didn't mind the art style THAT much.
If it's not Craig of the Creek, Victor and Valentino, We Baby Bears, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart, nor Elliott from Earth; then I'm fine with it

When I was sad about regular show ending Apple and Onion was there and made me happy, it can't end that quickly

I’m legit crying so hard rn, this was one of my favorite shows ever and it just came to in end, when they surprised with all these new episodes, you would never think it would end.
This is the one of the best shows I've watched on cartoon network in many years and its sad to see it go, maybe it will be in the gumball void 🤷🏾♀️

Honestly, when I first saw Apple and Onion, it seemed like a very appealing idea with lots of potential, I don't know why they would just can it right on the spot with no Finale or even a public announcement.

I watched the final episode of Apple and onion and its called Win it or bin it. The final episode is about Apple and Onion who win a brand new, fully furnished luxury apartment on a game show but need a positive letter of recommendation from Falafel to claim their prize. But at the end of the episode It was revealed that it was all a lie by falafel to making Apple and onion pay him rent and the final scene of the episode and the series was that Apple, onion and falafel going to rebuild their building that Apple and onion accidentally destroyed.

Apple and Onion was great! I liked that even though it was episodic they threw in references to some of the older episodes. I really enjoy Craig of the Creek as well as A & O, but it stinks that Apple and Onion didn’t get a proper finale. Given there other episodes, they probably could’ve came up with a really cool idea!
Jerk Chicken could've been like a final villain. It seemed like they were going that direction.

Wow, Craig is actually kinda adorable! My little cousins love seeing themselves represented on TV, and who wouldn't? They didn't like Apple and Onion, I didn't care for the art style, made me uncomfortable.
I really like show but some of the new episodes kinda traumatized me for no reason but it still fun to watch

when i first seen the trailers of this cartoon, i though it was just...meh. But when i started watching it, i realized how much passionate and good it looked. It honestly hurt to see that it got cancelled. Great job as always, cartoon network 😑

Bro this show was my childhood even though it came out when i was like, 5 or 6. It was the most fucking halarious show ive ever watched and im very dissapointed to hear that it got cancelled. I wish they dont do this with Craig of The Creek as well.
As someone without cable, I had no idea this show even existed. They really need to start thinking about marketing their shows to the online audience.
They do with HBO Max like how Infinity Train and Adventure Time moved to there. It’s just cable is the one that gets all of the advertising.

I've been watching them since the pilot, this is a tragedy, this was the only modern cartoon network show ( i.e 2019 onward) i watched constant. When steven universe, regular show, adventure time, and the amazing world of gumball ended, i stopped watching cartoon network entirely, until apple and onion came along. I was gonna watch infinity train but i never got around to it and craig of the creek, i mean i liked some episodes but hey i don't got cable and freaking teen titans go is just being played constant that i had no choice but to ditch cable and go to streaming. And who else but apple and onion were there, and they saved me from boredom, and it gave me something to watch during summer. I'm gonna miss the show and hope hbo max doesn't delete the show ( I'm still new to hbo max and just used to netflix deleting stuff, sorry)
