    I never comment online, but that was one of the best track vids I've watched. Your narration provides really interesting and useful information for those of us just doing DE events. Thanks! Subscribed!

    Incredible stuff as usual, great narration to get a better idea of what is happening and what you're thinking. Too often people just post track videos and it's kinda boring lol. Great to see how evenly matched the cars are.

    Looks like you had lots of fun, if you ever get the chance join us in germany on the Nürburgring....btw grin i am pretty sure he knew you were there staying in his slipstream would have been more efficient, but hey fun trackday!

      I am actually headed to Spa and the Nürburgring in August!
      Currently practicing on the simulator.
      Those were the top two tracks on my bucket list so I'm hitting both.
      On sitting directly behind someone - Some folks misinterpret sitting directly behind them as an indication you are happy and just following/learning their line.
      When you move out into their mirrors you are clearly telling them you want the pass.

    Nicely done. It can make a difference when you lengthen the straight by late braking and taking more of a "V" apex.

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  4 месяца назад

      Thanks. Are you talking about a standard late apex line or something even more extreme than that?

      I think he means kind of diamonding the corner. Braking straighter and exiting straighter, more of a parabola than a circular curve. @@ItsTrackTime

      Yeah, on the hairpins where you must lose all your speed, you can make a diamond shape (or V) line between the hard braking and getting back on the power.

    Later apex with a sharper turn in. I had always picked an apex where my deceleration and acceleration were smooth (smooth being fast) which had additional benefits of less scrubbing and better times. But recently I drove a GT4 and was coached for harder braking and sharper turn in at a later apex, thus lengthening the straight and allowing me to gain on higher powered cars. It seemed to work although I truly don't know if the risk / rewards was worth it in the long run. I did achieve higher straightaway speeds but it would take a lot more practice to really feel comfortable with this technique, let alone the greater stresses on the tires and brakes.

      Interesting.
      I wish the Garmin Catalyst had better accuracy so it could coach you on the benefits of different lines.
      The lines that it plots as part of the summary are so far from the actual driven line that the coaching comments are pretty much worthless.
      Last time I was out I set it on top of my trailer for 15 minutes before each session to maximize the number of satellites it could see hoping for better accuracy but I didn't see much improvement.

    Yet another great vid. Was the guy in the GT3 really braking as late as he could have ? Braking super late and super hard right to the apex and getting on the gas hard as soon as your line becomes "straight" is the key IMO.

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you, Looking at the footage he was braking at 150m going into turn 12 which is very aggressive for a GT3 and he was braking at the start of the grass on 11 which is moderately aggressive so yeah he was doing a pretty good job.
      And as you said, braking with max effort, horsing the car to the apex with near max braking, and then powering back up to 100% as quickly as traction will allow is the key.
      All with not letting the guy behind you get in your head and make you screw this sequence up ;-)

    You note he’s in a 991 gt3 which has lower HP
    Questions: assuming equal driving abilities - were he in a 991.2 gt3 (aka equal HP to your 4RS) and identical tires rather than slicks, would you think the gt3 would have a better time or worse time?

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  3 месяца назад

      With those two it would come down to drag and comfort with the rear vs mid engine layout.
      I believe the 4RS would be faster on the back straight given is has less drag and I know for example I would be faster in the 4RS because I'm more comfortable driving a mid engine layout. I've driven the 992 GT3 on track and never felt comfortable with the rear weight swinging behind me in the esses. With seat time this could change but for now I prefer the mid engine's handling characteristics.
