So happy for the S5II compatibility with the LUMIX Lab App and the 36 LUT slots. I agree, that Panasonic are currently the best company regarding approvement of existing cameras.
Thank god they listen to the users. The Lumix Lab app, I've been waiting for so I don't have to keep using my Accsoon. That real time lut change for two luts is really amazing, especially for just creating on the go with quick turn around.
@@nikosgkionis6841 neither is the realtime LUT stacking. My firmware hasn't changed the realtime LUT feature at all. I do have the Leicia Monochrome profile though.
The digital zoom function is actually insane. Granted, you won't get as much detail, but it's really handy for those shots you just want to share online :)
nahh mate, as far as I know it's phase detect in 4K60, however, not in 1080 60 which is a bummer, because there's no mode to film 60fps full sensor with good AF
I use 4k50 and it's PDAF. Never had any issues with it or 1080p eve at 100fps it's still PDAF. Why would a camera that has PDAF use contrast detection?
So glad I jumped onto the S5ii. Since I got it Panasonic has added new features like handheld hi res mode, and now real time lut and Lumix lab compatibility which is stuff I care about as a stills shooter.
Awesome look forward to trying these updates. BTW just bought your LUT pack and when trying to add the .cubes via the LUMIX Lab app (either to the app or direct to camera) it says that format is not supported?
i was hoping for a release of an S1h mark II soon enough... must people will be waiting for a Sony Fx3 mark II as well... Totally here for the new app direction! I did wonder if they were going to keep the lumix sync app or move away from it 😂 happy they’re moving to lumix lab fully 🎉🎉
I was thinking last week if Lumix was going to release a new firmware update for the S5ii and here it is 😆. Not sure how much better the IBS can be but will be interesting to find out.
I've been using Lumix for past 2-3 years professionally. Love them. However I just bought Sony a7iv. 2 reasons. Compatibility with 3rd party software such as capture one for iPad, and faster fps shooting with flash / strobes. That's it. These two reasons made me switch. I will keep my Lumix s5iix for video and Lumix S1r because I just love that camera. But the main workhorse....Sony...and I'm kinda sad about it.
I did the opposite. Sold a7iv and GM lenses to escape sony and get into lumix ecosystem when s5ii was launched. Lost money on those lenses but i'm still happy i did.
Hello Josh Thanks again How did you manage to get the update. It’s not yet visible on the web site of Lumix firmware update ? I would appreciate this black and white Leica profile on my S1R too …
GH6 users: First time? Fr though most new features got could have been implemented with an update. Considering the S5 is the GH6 for Fullframe, it wonders me when they are going to discontinue it for a version with slightly better specs, like the S5D. Ironically the DJI support on there was added to the GH6 via Firmware update, so I don't get why they changed their mind on the S5.
just curious, if you uploaded the eterna lut from Fuji website, how does it look on this feature? Fuji film simulations are just top notch, put that into this system and basically you have a full frame fuji.
Really is a bummer that there is no 32bit float on the S5ii/X with the XLR2. I'm assuming it's a hardware limitation with the cameras. I'll keep using my cheapo 3rd party mixer for gigs.
It's a shame that Panasonic didn't fix the AFC on video above F8. AFC only works on Canon EF lenses up to F8. Above that is the focus from the S5 Mark I system, including the Lumix lenses. So if you have EF lenses do not buy Lumix and Sigma MC-21 for video.
Haha, feeling left out of all these firmware updates and Lumix Lab app when I have the S5. And Panasonic just released the S5D when it seems like that could have just been a firmware update. It's still working great for me, but I guess no technology is futureproof!
Not something I'd use but good they've done a firmware update. I would like the digital zoom function within the S5ii though (even with loss of resolution) shame that hasn't been added.
If only they gave S5 some love. I don't care for autofocus, I don't need an upgrade to s5ii, I don't know why these improvements should not come to s5. Not buying Panasonic again.
Learned my lesson the hard way after upgrading from my GH5 (which got a LOT of firmware updates through the years) to the GH6, which is the S5 of MFT. It got abandoned really fast after not even 2 years and most features could have been implemented via updates, yet Panasonic prefered to make an extra buck of money by releasing those on a new model. Considering that I'm switching from my GH6 to Fullframe, I wonder if I should go for the S5iiX or wait for the release of yet another model.
Do you have a way to ask you questions to get help with the s52x. Even if there is a charge. I shoot sports in highschool stadiums and i get a red cast on my photos in some stadiums. I was hoping this firmware would fix this.
Hmmm. Just updated S5iix firmware and I'm not seeing where I can stack luts. Yours shows Lut 1 & Lut 2. Mine still only showing Lut 1. Is there a trick to enable stacking luts in video mode? Anyone? Suggestions?
