  • We pick up anchor in St Pierre and head down to Fort de France for a quick spot of bouldering before continuing on the 22 nautical mile sail to Le Marin, where we tackle a long list of boat jobs, from changing our gearbox oil (and finding a nifty little thing during the process), to sealing a hatch which drips on us every now and then.

    About Us
    We are Becka and Zach, a couple who, in 2020, dreamt of sailing off into the big blue. Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane.
    However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on.
    We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit

    The quality of your shows is growing on me more every week, very nice work! When we mount something on or through deck, we invariably put some goop in before tightening everything down, as the rubber bits don't stop all the leaks and you will find water going through there at some point. By goop, I generally mean one of the 3M products, or in this case, some Maritime black to match your teak, it should be flexible for when you want to renovate later. Other opinions are welcome here. Your magnet revelation brings a smile. You both do an excellent job of bringing the special moments, adventure, and discovery to this show, keep this up.

    • @robm.4512
      @robm.4512 Год назад +1

      Totally agree with your goop comment, dry fit rarely works perfectly.
      As much as anything it acts initially as a lube, so the rubber element can move into its happy position during tightening….
      Then it cures to complete the seal.
      Cheers, R. 😎👍🍻

    Zach, using magnetic probes to collect metal particles is quiet a common thing. They use them a lot in Aviation and we know them as "Chip Detectors" you can also find them in an Electromagnetic form which will turn a light on if the Chip Detector picks up metal It is also good practice to Cut open your oil filters and look at the debri that it is picking up. You can buy specialist cutter tools that uses a wheel cutter to cut the metal housing cleanly so that when you have the filter elements you are not looking at the metal from the filter housing but only the engine wear metals another good practice is to filter the oil through a paper filter to check for other Non-Magnetic pieces that may be in the oil,
    ie:- rubber of "O" ring seals or plastic washers that maybe breaking down another handy tool is a Telescopic Magnet or (Magnet on a stick) to run through the waste oil filter papers are cheap and easy to use but can show something is going wrong way before it does

    • @TeuluTribe
      @TeuluTribe  Год назад

      I had no idea 😅 Thats a really good idea, next time I have to change the oil I'll make sure to filter it to look for other bits of rubbish. Cheers!

      Criminology ? Just Curious, did the Course Start with 18th Century Italian Criminologist Cesare Beccaria by any chance, as all of his Findings have been Confirmed, by every Criminologist Since. I did a deep dive into the Subject after being Shot By a Nutter in 1989, and thoughtful things turned out to be nothing like I had suspected, and clarified much of the Reasoning behind Our Common Law Constitution (paralleled with about 30 years of diving into Constitutional Philosophy - which oddly, nobody today can get qualified in , as I found out when attempting to to get qualified in. We are in May, and Hurricane Season Officially starts June 1st, any plans on doing a Bold Sir Robin (Monty Python's Holy Grail reference ) and Boldly Run Away to somewhere to Shelter ? I really enjoyed stumbling across your channel & videos.
    As you're approaching 50k subs maybe it's time to upgrade to some 4k HDR equipment. Given the rise in sales of huge OLED/QLED smart TV's they are all smart, cable fed 250-300mbps like mine. So many creators are doing this and I've seen their subs rise. (food for thought). 🎥⛵

      We normally have to look to see if there are ATM's on the island we are planning on going to, if not we get cash out before. I hope that answers your question.
