I’ve said it before and I get it’s almost a platitude at this point but I absolutely adore how wide the range of what a “Mage” is in this line. While my heart will always belong with the Verbena or the Hermetics, there is a particular flare to playing a reality hacker or a modern day steampunk scientist
Eagerly waiting on more mage lore and history - I never could wrap up my head around key events and characters from lore (I just picked famous historical figures and went "woooo they were mages all along! wooo!")
Since I am playing my first Mage The Ascenison game (we're at session two atm) your videos are great to help me learn about the lore, I prefer learning by listening, and you're great to listen to.
One thing I like about Mages is that there's such a variety of them that Kindred & Garou wouldn't necessarily have an automatic hatred for them that they have for each other. I've added Mages & Garou to my Chronicle. I created a Verbena healer (Life 5) & Spiritualist (Spirit 4) who has the Blessing Background (4 dots) (specifically from Gaia) and who obviously has some Kinfolk blood in her distant past. Is it ridiculous to think that most Garou who are not constantly overcome with Rage would not want to automatically rip her throat out & many of the more "peaceful" and spiritual might actually like her?
Such a good overview of the traditions. I'll show it to any new players interested in Mage. They'll understand the setting without drowning in lore. Or squishing them with the Mage20 book!
Thank you! I might explain it further lore-wise in the future, but generally I avoid rules-talk in my lore videos; I have been thinking about doing rules-focused videos somewhere down the line though.
I wouldn't call it a problem per se, but one of the things that made me connect to VtM more then MtA, is the presence of Clan Curses and the absence of an equivalent system among the traditions. What's the difference in game between a Life Mage of the Order of Hermes or one of the Verbena? Wouldn't there be some sort of advantage in playing with your tradition chosen Sphere? Maybe I'm missing something. I know it's simplistic but the Clan Curses to me really anchored down the choice of a Clan to specific consequences :)
one last annoying comment from me mate I swear, but I have a request, could you do a video about "magic", i.e what unawakened normal humans can do, if it exists, like for example a magic similar to Thaumaturgy, a magic that is barely withing the consensus .
No worries, no worries! There are hedge wizards and I think they're called sorcerers, but I'm not too sure about that stuff. It might come further down the line in my videos for sure, but I will be returning to Vampire lore videos soon.
Difficult to say. I can totally see Crowley having been Order of Hermes and/or Celestial Chorus only to screw them over and join Cult of Ecstasy. He certainly made a lot of enemies in the more traditional circles of mages. Gerald Gardener I unfortunately don't know enough about to make a guess.
We reallyyyyyyyyy need a video about Technocracy..cuz in The order of reason sounds like the "good guys", but damn if not the technocratic union is made of a bunch of assholes THAT KEEP TRYING TO KILL MY PCs!!!
The Primogen I was 1st introduce to WOD from video game Hunter the Reckoning and read the 6 novel series. I think it was the 3rd book where the Technocratic Union was investigating someone and a mage interfering with them that where ever he walked leaves would be left behind. It’s been a while. They were facincinating in the novel.
I repeatedly read when randomly browsing on r/WoD that it's very common in cross character groups (vampires, werewolfs, and mages, etc mix) that if the mage has time to prepare they can steam roll everything (especially if there's no enemy mages).

Absolutely! It's such a broad net that's handled perfectly. Really got the lightning in the bottle for this one.

I'm having the same problem! There's a lot to unpack in this setting! :D
@@ThePrimogen i believe in you man! Been watching your videos since I found you through mage and you did stellar job with vampire 👍

I'm so glad I can help out! I hope I can keep providing useful information!

Ahaha, werewolf and mage meshes really well, it leads to situations like this
Prim, these videos are sooo good 🧙♀️❤🧙♂️
Thank you Huddy! That's so sweet of you!
I have been very much enjoying this series! I am playing a LARP based on MtA, and your videos have been invaluable in helping me prepare.
Great to hear! I'm always happy to help!
Omg the video i am waiting for is almost here!!!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@ThePrimogen its good haha i really dunno how you manage to summarise some of these things its great!
Thanks for the video!
If you do not already possess it I recommend 20th Anniversary Mage, there is a new union of Mage groups called the Disparates. :D

I'm super glad you find these useful! Mage is definitely a setting that requires a lot of Big Brain!
Great videos! I would love to see a video how the magic system works, how you cast spells and such.

Dude, your alliteration is amazing.
I'm glad you enjoy it! These scripts sometimes twist my tongue completely
This is too fucking good mate!!!!! Are you ever gonna tackle the other version of Mage, the one is Awakening??
Awakening is definitely somewhere down the road, but still a long way to go, I'm nowhere near done with old World of Darkness yet. :D

Which tradition would you say "Gerald Gardener" and "Allister Crowley " fit into?
Difficult to say. I can totally see Crowley having been Order of Hermes and/or Celestial Chorus only to screw them over and join Cult of Ecstasy. He certainly made a lot of enemies in the more traditional circles of mages.
Gerald Gardener I unfortunately don't know enough about to make a guess.
Crowley is almost certainly a Cultist
Greetings from the Primus of Time in our Chronicle!
Hail and salutation to you, Primus!
Hehe BOIIII, YEEEEEES
There are so many traditions and I am excited as hell for this video
Glad you enjoyed it! :D
Tremere vs mages I would like to see that and what they think of each other
The Tremere used to be a house of the Order of Hermes before becoming vampires.

Was so excited for this video. YESSS. Ty primo!

Please do a video on the Technocratic Union. 😊
Oh it's coming, my friend. :)

I'm curious to see if you touch on The Nephandi at any point.
I mention them very briefly in the introduction, but it'll be a while before I come back to Mage again, I think. Sorry!
Yeah, Traditions! Society of Ether! Love the video.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Ahh, a fellow Etherite out there.
Can you please do a tier list of which supernatural race in World of Darkness is the most powerful and weakest based on power and influence.
I repeatedly read when randomly browsing on r/WoD that it's very common in cross character groups (vampires, werewolfs, and mages, etc mix) that if the mage has time to prepare they can steam roll everything (especially if there's no enemy mages).
Good point.
Unfortunately I'm not very good with rules and comparing powers, but I'm pretty sure there are many out there who have done a great job discussing it.
@@ThePrimogen It's okay I was just wanting to know based on your opinion which race is the most strongest and weakest within World of Darkness.
No mage's... All Oracle's!!!
Celestial Chorus simply because True Faith is OP
Heck yeah!
good song too
Ohhh~ cool
I love Mage!
John D.? THE John D?!
The very same John Dee who advised Queen Elisabeth I
CoX used to be my jam!
Cult of Ecstacy? Great stuff! :D
@@ThePrimogen Yup, she was an Oracle type
@@GeekyGrannyof2 Awesome! I love the vast potential of Mage, it's like unbridled creativity!
I agree, not worth it for there so called flair..it’s not a good thing for sure
