I love your goal❤I started watching you years ago but back in 2019 I got out of fish keeping because my passion was betas and I was tired of being heartbroken from all the illnesses that my poor fish kept facing and passing away from. I just recently wanted to get started back into fish keeping. I really hope you succeeded in your goal. I remember when I was a kid, I used to have a beta that lived about six or seven years unfortunately they just don’t live that long anymore.

The same thing really bothers me. Bettas used to live so much longer and now the average is 1 to 2 years and that's so sad!

This is something so special! It's so exciting to see how passionate you are about these fish! I've never really stopped and considered fish...it feels kind of rude of me to ask, but I'm curious, and hopeful I maybe find an older video where you talk about this, but what do you feel has drawn you towards these fish? Their unique appearance? Personality? I know it's a stretch to think I'd get an answer, but... anyway... that's a beautiful fish there at the end!

I bred bettas for the first time this year. I didn’t have a great survival rate, but I’ll do better next time. I’ve moved to southern Alabama to help out my Mom. The water here is liquid rock. I’m thinking of catching rain water and using that in the betta tanks.

Maybe, you can get an RO water purifier and remineralize the water for your your betta. I think a 5 or 10 gallon could be manageable. I wish you the best of luck!

I have kept them out in the open along with some plants, they had grown well until to a point they died one after another, maybe due to overfeeding, or changes in pH due to rains. That pack was 7 8 month old since the emergence from eggs. I am also keeping some other packs. I think the overfeeding can cause various trouble, fasting sometimes is better.

Glad to hear you are making progress on your health issues. I love the beauty of bettas, but seem to never have great luck with them. So when I’m ready to get another I am going to get one from a reputable breeder.

I just started my RUclips journey (4videos) and you were definitely a huge help when I had my betta spawn grow out :)! Thanks for that!

I stopped using heaters in my tanks years ago, at winter nights room temperature can go down to 64-65 F. Nobody died. Everybody thrives! Usually our temperature flactuates from 66 to 74 F during 24 hours. What changed? NO MORE ANY SICKNESS OUTBREAKS. My fish are never sick since I got rid of heaters, not even once. They used to be sick now and then with heaters before. And all fish live 1.5 - 2 times longer now, many bettas included. I believe heaters are just a marketing to sell it, fishrooms don't need it. Tanks are much better without heaters - shrimps, plants, fish, bettas are better without it.

    Hi I need your expertise!!
my new betta isn't eating he's very thin.
My water quality is good and temp is 80f. He's in a 25g planted tank with otocinclus/amano shrimp.
Anyway he won't take any of the foods I'm feeding. I've put him in a breeder box to try and target feed him / because he was chasing the otocinclus around but he either ignores or spits out any food he does try.
I've tried bugbites, tetra granules, hikari vibrabites. He did eat a freeze dried blood worm the first day I tried it but since then he mostly ignores them :( he was thin when I bought him too so I don't think he was eating well at the store either.
I think he's been fed on live foods because he is always hunting around and a tiny fly larvae was in the tank near the breeder box hes in and he was going crazy trying to get it but couldn't since it was on the other side 😅 he's also a very small betta so I suspect isn't that old.
What would you recommend I do to wean him onto dry foods?
