I'm trying a different filming style today... what do you think? Have you ever owned a Marble Betta Fish? Creative Pet Keeping ~ I own a Grizzled veiltail female. She recently just as a brand new splotch on her, this happened when I was on vacation for a week. Thanks for this vid though!
Creative Pet Keeping from all the videos that I ve seen so far in your chanel this is probably one of the best. I really liked that you clarified that this is all theories and haven't been proven and the big variety of pictures that you included was particularly helpful. I'd like to see more videos similar to this one. Finally I would prefer if you included a link of where you found some of the information you mentioned.
I thought my fish was dying when I noticed marbling. I was literally in panic mode because I strive to keep my Betta healthy and keep his water clean weekly.
My girl "koi" betta used to be cellophane with some orange spots when I first got her. Now she's fully orange and has black stripes like a tiger and a white belly. She's adorable but I guess she's just marbled unfortunately :/
This makes so much sense! I had a red and white koi and his body has become almost completely black with only one white spot and his red and cellophane fins are completely red and going black too. I knew he would change but didn't realise his colour would become so solid!
I wish I came across this video a year ago when our butterfly male (according to PetSmart) got stressed out in a community tank and became so ill I honestly thought he was dead. He went from blue to black and fin rotted to complete cellophane after treatment. He changed throughout the first year we had him until he settled on all black with a cellophane face and some iridescent blue . He's amazing.
I watched this video the same day you posted and now I'm realizing that one of my female halfmoons might be a marble! She started out royal blue with a black face and now her fans are slowly turning bright red! She's still very young and small so I can't wait to see how much she'll change in the future
My veiltail betta started off with a white face and large splotches of purple on his body. His tail was was mostly white and looked like shimmering gossamer fabric. It's initially why I fell in love with him. I loved his tail. Now his whole body is purple, his tail is about half purple and and half white. I still love him though and he's still beautiful. I had no idea that fish colors could change until I got him.
I have a little female "crowntail" betta purchased at Petco who was black with blue highlights when I first bought her. She's nearly completely cellophane/white now with a few "spots" of black now. She very much freaked me out as I had moved her to a new, larger tank (cycled) about three weeks prior to noticing the change (it's been two months now she just has a little black left). Checked everything and she's completely acting normal.
Great video again Kasia! McMerwe Farms is a great channel! I did a channel spotlight on him the day before yesterday! The new light looks really awesome! Keep up the good work and thumbs up!
I saw this video a few months ago and the marble variation is so cool. I just joined a new beginner aquarium group on Facebook and shared your video. The ladies daughters betta changed from almost all black with a little white to almost all white/cellophane and the daughters freaking out
The light reflection in your pupils is really cool, looks like you are a character in a sci-fi movie. I guess if you have fish that change color, that's somewhat sci-fi -ish too. lol
Very nice explanation. I think the fact that they can change color over time is what makes these fish so exciting to keep. You never know how things are going to turn out - it's like fish gambling! Haha
3 years later it was released it answered my question. I just buy a Betta all black and red fins, I called him Betto. Now Betto is like changing to the edge of the lower fins white and the back half of his body blue. I thought he may sick but he looks really happy in his tank. Thank you he may be my Marble Betto
I just got a red, white, & blue galaxy halfmoon. The white looked kinda like a splash pattern. After just I moved him from the original 2 gallon tank to a nice 5 gallon tank, he has turned all blue with just red and white lining the edge of his tail fin. I wanted to give him a tank mate as he's so active that he looks bored but the young snail was a fail. He wouldn't leave it alone so it never came out of its shell & he ate all the snail food I put in front of the snail to coax him out. So I am not sure how to help his boredom. Thankfully I have more Bettas & he's my only aggressive one so I was able to move the snail to another tank before any harm was done.
Glad I found this. Even though my female betta did not act sick. She has changed from a solid dark blue, to now red, white and blue. She was tiny when purchased, and 8 months later started slowly changing colors. It is cool to know she has the 'jumping gene'. She was simply labeled as a Crowntail Female Betta. First female Betta I have owned. To me I will always have a female Betta. She is smart, funny and friendly. Believe it or not she always poops in the same place in her tank.
Hey Kasia!! I recently got a fancy yellow marble male from Bettas and Art. So now I'm super excited to see how he will change colors! 💛 keep up the amazing work! Much love 🐟
Broski Jay he was $80. Shipping and everything. I paid for 3 day shipping but they were nice enough to upgrade me to 2-day for free. But like SeahawksFan said, depends on the color, gender, and who you buy them from.
I have experienced this. Water changes and IAL do seem to trigger marbling. Several times I have seen the same betta at a store and he looked the same. As soon as I get him home and in new water the color change starts happening and it is NOTICEABLE with each water change! Great video. :)
Same for mine I bought him from the shop while he was mostly white with red on his head then today after ial and water changes lots more red on fins and belly
Ok so! I work at Petco, and scored a blue marble also mislabeled as a butterfly 😯 I've had him just about a month and he has totally changed. He was mostly white with blue spackling all over his body, and some black points in his tail. All white face. His face is still white but now the white goes down his spine and now hes marbled blue with black and some gray! It's insane! I had no knowledge on this jumping gene until this video so I thank you! Now I'm going to keep taking loads of pics of him to document his changes. Question would he be considered a piebald based on the description? The irony would kill me as I have a piebald Siberian husky
omg thank you for teaching me about this gene..i was almost scared why my butterfly betta was suddenly changing colors..i got him as a young boy and now he’s going from teenager to adult..my pisces is all grown up 🥰
My blue/black betta got sick a couple of months ago with the cotton wool disease and I had no idea what was happening! Thankfully he's right beside me on my bedside table so I caught it when it was right on the tips of his tail and treated it with the right medicine, but then a week ago his top fin started going white and spread down over his back in patches, and now it's going around his eyes! I have literally been so depressed about it just thinking, 'I'll wake up one morning and he'll just be floating on top of his little leaf hammock, asleep forever...' Until I got up the courage to google what is going on and saw this 'jumping gene' and 'marble betta' thing and I am so relieved! I got him as a birthday gift from my sister last year and I've really enjoyed having him with me in my room and I was so confused about what was happening. I've felt like a monster, just watching my fish slowly die, I even thought I should put him in the river so he can be 'free' and just swim down the creek. I told my sister that I didn't know what was happening and she said that maybe he has that disease that Michael Jackson had (vitiligo) and I honestly just shook my head at her thinking that can't be it. But I guess it is something like that! He never lost his appetite, he never became lethargic, and I don't know how old he is so I can't be sure it isn't age, but the way he looks and behaves I think he must be a marble betta! I am sooo glad YOU HAVE NO IDEA 😁😁😁
i have marble betta too without knowing. But it has pink spot on top of his head. idk if this was common or illness. He still active and energetic like always
i am so greatful for this video! im so relieved thanks to this video mt betta changed collor several times i was worried about sickness 🙏🏻 thankyou soo much
We got one for my son a few weeks back he was white / blue splashes on his body pink face and white fins now he's more blue than white on his body still has a pink face with white/blue fins and I don't think he's done yet it's pretty cool to watch
I love this new style of video way more entertaining and a lot of info packed into 8min best video you made by far -Not saying none of your other videos weren't entertaining btw xD
My fish was named copper, but pretty sure he is marble since his random pattern turned into a dark gray. I kind of theorised it was because of the hummus in my aquarium.
I bought a female betta who was blue with red fins.... sooo pretty then all the sudden I went to fed her one day and she had turned white with blue spots... which is why I’m here trying to understand what happened. Thank you for this video it made me stop worrying.
Glamed up girl! Haha dang thank for the video kesha! Was searching up why my koi beta was changing color souch. This makes sense. Thanks for doing the vid! Should of just ask you to do one on it!
You find awesome betta fishes!!! I am a big fan of betta fish but I got a question.. i used to have a betta fish that was very happy but few months later, he stopped being happy... how do I get my betta fish happy again? :(
Hi! Not CPK but maybe I could help? What size tank is your betta in? Is the tank cycled? Maybe rearrange the decorations to make things more interesting for him.
Do you know how much water the tank holds? Did you cycle the tank? Is there a heater? A filter? If you didnt and don't have a filter it's probably ammonia poisoning and without a heater he could be too cold. Google ''Fish-in cycling guide' and follow the instructions. Also, what kind of duck decoration? Is it new? It might not be aquarium safe. Try adding some silk plants or a sideways small flower pot (clean of course).
I was worried because I brought home a very traditionally colored short finned koi Betta from a generic pet store. I picked him because he had gill swelling and seemed sluggish. He's slowly grown less splotchy with the black and red and is now almost an iridescent silver!? I was worried, but he progressively has acted healthier since bringing him home. His gill is normal, he's a strong swimmer (he plays in the filter currant) and is an absolute showoff when someone enters and he thinks there's food. This makes me less worried!
yesterday i got a female betta a koi one and she was just some blue with black and white now she has some red on her and getting more vibrant colours!!!
thanks so much for the video - i wasn't aware of just how drastic the marbling can be!! the fish i ordered is a gorgeous marble white and cellophane right now with tiny black splotches. she arrives in 3 days - im glad i watched this video now, because if she changes color in transit i won't get confused and think they sent the wrong fish!! i know she's from koi spawn... obviously koi lines throw other marble patterns, but her siblings are all kois. does that mean she's more likely to marble within that red/white/black/orange/yellow spectrum? or is it totally random? i kinda want her to stay mostly white and cellophane, she is so beautiful. i wouldn't be sad if she got pink or purple or whatever on her tho! im not really a fan of the orange/red side of the spectrum so i'd prefer if she didn't go there but ultimately obviously i will love her no matter what colour she is. i guess all this is part of the fun of getting a marble!! i am planning on having quite high tannins so i'll admit i was hoping u were gona say that reduces the marbling lol. but ah well i will just embrace the randomness!!
When i first got my veiltail betta he has this clear pinkish color then i was shocked to see him having some spots on some part of his body after a week. Good to know that its only natural.
After watching this video, I have realized that one of my three bettas might be a marble... his head was white, his body blue on the sides and then black elsewhere, and his fins were mostly cellophane with some black on the ends when I first got him. Now he has a bunch of red on his fins and his head is almost completely black. But then again, I've only had him for two months as of two days from now so his true colors may have just come out. All I know is that he's probably one of the nicest looking bettas I've ever had.
Nice vid, never new about marble's let alone owned one. Just have one awesome red veil tail spoiled in a 40 with peaceful tankmates. Designer clowns are my passion. I have always spoiled a betta, that is where it all started for me. Sorry about Mr. Bubbles.
I have a male koi betta first I noticed his eyes change from black/orange to blue and now his body was very colorful like the jawbreaker candy. He was red, blue orange and white and super vibrant. Now his color faded and it seems it’s coming back a bit but he still seems not as vibrant. He isn’t sick and still goes around happily in his tank. I noticed his color patterns has changed. Would this be marbling?
Smolten001 mine has DRASTICALLY changed from a pure light white with a little bit of pinky ascents to a dark blue and light blue with a grey head. I was so shook! I did get him from a pet store though, so I’m thinking he was stressed and underfed and now that he is in a nicer home... he’s beefing up and becoming the blue fish he was supposed to be haha
I have a delta betta fish. He’s all blue except for his head, being blue and white. His tail is blue and white with some pink in it. I noticed a light black spot. I thought it was fin rot but it hasn’t gotten bigger or his tail doesn’t look shorter. Do you think he’s marbled?
I bought my "koi" betta about three weeks ago now and I've noticed the black/purple that makes up most of his color has been creeping up onto his white face like a cute little hood. I think like everyone I'd hoped he was a true koi when I got him, but I wasn't exactly holding my breath. The science of it is fascinating though. Does anyone have any scientific journals relating to this?
I need to look into it.. but I think there was a paper written on this. A lot more research needs to go into marbles.. maybe the International Betta Congress has something
I got a tangerine koi male, his body was white with blue freckles all over him in about 2 weeks his whole body turned blue besides his little white face, I was wondering if he'll change colors again ?
i cross choclate betta hm with marble ct and i get i don't even know some time it show gold and sometime green and choclate and something like wild betta red
Oasis help please! I purchased a baby female she was a solid dark blue with a black face. She is about 6 months old now and she is extremely faded almost turning white with red in her tail fin. I’ve been very concerned the last 2 weeks. Wondering your thoughts on this.
Phew! I was worried since my betta had a white body when I got him and now his body is turning blue! I was so confused! He also has blue spots showing up in certain spots on his body and his fins are turning blue where they were red!
what happens if a Marble Betta getd frightened? does it change pigments? is it okay if changes? when i clean my tank i tend to put my dark blue Betta in a cup cause i fear hiis fins might get caught when i remove the sponge intake for cleaning. he really hated the cup. in half a minute his face and belly started turning dead white; it scared the hell out of me!
So is a marble betta the same as a koi? I have a female that has changed color, yes I did think she was sick and treated her. She is getting bits of white on her head and face and gills area. No none of this changes while I treated her. I always hit my guys with a antibiotic for the first 3 to 4 days of treatment. This is only jump start the process. Then I continue to treat with salt, almond water that I have boiled up for them and treat for another 5 days. I did get a blue marble HMPK. Although he looks to have more dragon scale in him than anything. His coloring is there. He is only blue and iridescent blueish White
I'm worried about my female betta since it's started changing color. she was turquoise, black, and had red color splotches. Some of her scales are turning light peach colored and so are her lower fins. Could my heater have burned her? I don't want her to get ill or die.
I'm trying a different filming style today... what do you think? Have you ever owned a Marble Betta Fish?

Creative Pet Keeping yes... I found a koi at pet smart and she hasn't marbled but my others have
out of my 13 bettas i've had over the past couple years only 2-3 of them never changed color!
Creative Pet Keeping from all the videos that I ve seen so far in your chanel this is probably one of the best. Creative Pet Keeping I have a question can I reuse Indian almond leaves? I ordered online and I only get 10pieces☹️
Aaaaahh.. the fate of all Koi
blurryfas Tiger Betta sounds pretty cool though
This makes so much sense! I had a red and white koi and his body has become almost completely black with only one white spot and his red and cellophane fins are completely red and going black too. I knew he would change but didn't realise his colour would become so solid!

I got a marble female not knowing what she was, What a neat thing to watch the babies turn color and even the mom after.

You’re so lucky! Purple is the rarest color for bettas!
I bought a "butterfly" as well and he was mostly white with some blue now almost all blue n white turning peach 🤍
Thank you!!!!
This is my birthday present... along with that 20 gallon long ;)
Marshye Books when was your birthday mine was yesterday!
Happy Birthday!
I have a little female "crowntail" betta purchased at Petco who was black with blue highlights when I first bought her. She's nearly completely cellophane/white now with a few "spots" of black now. The Demon betta marbled for the first time I was freaked out too.. I was like//"what is happening to my fish!?"
You look stunning 😻😘 Very informative video btw!!! Keep it up 😝👍🏼
I would never judge a fish by the color of his scales but by the content of his character !
Great video again Kasia!
McMerwe Farms is a great channel! I did a channel spotlight on him the day before yesterday!
The new light looks really awesome!
Keep up the good work and thumbs up!
I can't believe the difference of this channel from years ago when I started watching! The quality is amazing ;)
Thanks!! I'm trying my best to improve ^_^
Thanks Kasia. Your videos is very helpful. My beta changed colour....I thought he was sick....but now I am stress free.
I saw this video a few months ago and the marble variation is so cool. I just joined a new beginner aquarium group on Facebook and shared your video. The ladies daughters betta changed from almost all black with a little white to almost all white/cellophane and the daughters freaking out
Thank you for sharing it! 🥰
The light reflection in your pupils is really cool, looks like you are a character in a sci-fi movie. I guess if you have fish that change color, that's somewhat sci-fi -ish too. lol
Marbles.. the sci-fi fish of the future :P
This explains why my half-moon betta Theo changed from pure white to blue and red in a matter of a couple months!
Same. I bought mine white then turned blue is 7days. Any update on color changes of your betta?
Very nice explanation. I think the fact that they can change color over time is what makes these fish so exciting to keep. You never know how things are going to turn out - it's like fish gambling! Haha
Nice Video! Really leaned allot. Thx for adding my part :)
It was fun collaborating with you!
im from south Africa too
Super interesting!! I didn't even know this was a thing!!
Also, great to see McMerwe Farms being featured. Great guy with a great channel.
3 years later it was released it answered my question. I just buy a Betta all black and red fins, I called him Betto. Now Betto is like changing to the edge of the lower fins white and the back half of his body blue. I thought he may sick but he looks really happy in his tank. Thank you he may be my Marble Betto

Bettas and art have really nice fish!
Veronica D.B. How much it cost
They cost about $25-200. It really depends on the gender and the type of betta
Broski Jay he was $80. Shipping and everything. I paid for 3 day shipping but they were nice enough to upgrade me to 2-day for free. But like SeahawksFan said, depends on the color, gender, and who you buy them from.

For some reason marbles are not really talked about in the hobby for some reason O_O
Ok so! I work at Petco, and scored a blue marble also mislabeled as a butterfly 😯

The irony would kill me as I have a piebald Siberian husky
Great video on the marble gene. :) Any idea on how soon the betta shop will be open? I'm super excited to try and snatch one of your spawn!
My fish used to be slightly see-through and pink but now his tail is slowly turning blue :)
This was a super great video! You really broke it down and explained it well. Are you going to make more betta genetics videos?
I will try as I learn more.. I'm still a bit new to it
I just realize u live in Chicago so do I and I love when u post it so fun
One day I want to do a meetup somewhere downtown...I think it would be cool :D
I’m in Chicago suburbs as well
Never been so early! So excited for another new video!
YAY!
Your videos are always awesome and very informative thanks for making them! I can't wait to move so I can set up my first betta tank!
omg thank you for teaching me about this gene..i was almost scared why my butterfly betta was suddenly changing colors..i got him as a young boy and now he’s going from teenager to adult..my pisces is all grown up 🥰
Mine has changed colors and now his fins are turning black and have black dots, do you happen to know why?
Nice video, I always get excited when ever you upload a video
This is a really good video and will definitely recommend! I'm also in the Betta group of FB!

WIll do! 🐟❤
My betta fish has a 3d rectangle shaped tank, it only has a decoration of a duck, i only got one tank that my one fish died in that is a circle shaped
I don't have those stuff but I'll go buy it, and Idk how much water holds

I bought a bad ass koi betta from petco and a few months later he turned blue. I was bummed but i still love my betta.
Thats whats happening to the Koi Babies father.. he is turning black and blue :(
yesterday i got a female betta a koi one and she was just some blue with black and white now she has some red on her and getting more vibrant colours!!!
i have a blue and white grizzled marble plakat male, his colors turned solid, solid blue body, and solid white head
thanks so much for the video - i wasn't aware of just how drastic the marbling can be!! the fish i ordered is a gorgeous marble white and cellophane right now with tiny black splotches. she arrives in 3 days - im glad i watched this video now, because if she changes color in transit i won't get confused and think they sent the wrong fish!! i know she's from koi spawn... obviously koi lines throw other marble patterns, but her siblings are all kois. does that mean she's more likely to marble within that red/white/black/orange/yellow spectrum? or is it totally random? i kinda want her to stay mostly white and cellophane, she is so beautiful. i wouldn't be sad if she got pink or purple or whatever on her tho! im not really a fan of the orange/red side of the spectrum so i'd prefer if she didn't go there but ultimately obviously i will love her no matter what colour she is. i guess all this is part of the fun of getting a marble!! i am planning on having quite high tannins so i'll admit i was hoping u were gona say that reduces the marbling lol. but ah well i will just embrace the randomness!!
I love you and your channel.
Love you too!
Nice video! I love the koi types.
Great video! So far I have never had a Marble but one of my bettas face is changing a little
Hi!! I have a red twintail half moon male betta, named Leon who is now turning blue/greenish.
Czeszc Kasia! Jestesz Polka? ladnie masz rybki, Pozdrowienia z Macedonii
The fun things about Marbles is discovering they are Marbles
Creative Pet Keeping Definitely true. Great video, by the way!
Great video and can't wait for the next one
Your cat is cute
Now my place try to breed koi jeweled with mascot to get shiny pigment on koi colour.
Nice vid, never new about marble's let alone owned one. Just have one awesome red veil tail spoiled in a 40 with peaceful tankmates. Designer clowns are my passion. I have always spoiled a betta, that is where it all started for me. Sorry about Mr. Bubbles.
awesome video and very interesting information thanks for sharing
What a great vudeo thanks
I noticed my shiny blue betta turning black. I thought it was rotting. Hopefully it's just changing color.
Cool. I'll buy all you bettas for $50 USD.
Kidding haha nice video!
My red crown fish is turning white now that hes getting better im getting a bit worried but my bf sent me this video thank you
My old betta was cellophane and pink then suddenly changed to bright neon blue almost green!
Woa.. that sounds really interesting
I thought my white fish changing blue was my imagination or me going crazy.
Smolten001 hey! The same thing happened to my betta. Did it happen rather quickly???
@@ninagioiosa4999 Over about two months.Hes really blue now.
I fall in love😍
what if your betta changes colour when it moves? Is it classified as a marble?
that moment when demon betta looks like my dragon scale betta. now i wonder if my betta will change color now
Oh you look so different
The magic of makeup hehe

I got a tangerine koi male, his body was white with blue freckles all over him in about 2 weeks his whole body turned blue besides his little white face, I was wondering if he'll change colors again ?
Do carp koi have the jumping gene ?

My lil koi changed to mostly black and blue. Was he mislabeled as a koi? Could he bee a marble? I love him so much now, he shines under blue light
The tip of my dragon scale veil tail betta are starting to turn clear so i think he might be starting to marble
Do some marble bettas get diamond eye?
Oasis help please! I purchased a baby female she was a solid dark blue with a black face. She is about 6 months old now and she is extremely faded almost turning white with red in her tail fin. I’ve been very concerned the last 2 weeks. Wondering your thoughts on this.
What is example for none-marble betta?
I have a Betta fish, and it's tail starts to become transparent. Is that also a manifistationt of a marble gym?
I love your eyes
I USED TO HAVE A MARBLE BETTA FISH
that's cool.
My koi bettas....always turn black or not stay koi
