Yes, this beginning life of Betta's is not ideal but who are we to judge a Country that has been breeding these fish like this for probably centuries. We judge by " western standard " of fish keeping, lots of people in Thailand are poor and it is still very much a third world country, at least they have some form of income to survive. I love Betta fish, in comparison mine live in at least 23 litre tanks, that is heated, has filtration and heavily planted and I aim to give my fish a good quality of life from the one they probably started with.
This is horrible way for these poor fish to live. Also you are wrong when you say the betta fish need to be separated at 2month old. If you raise betta from birth together they will not fight they only fight once separated you can not put them back together. I know this from watching other betta fish farm videos on youtube and this is how I breed my fish. Right now i have two different large grow out tanks full of betta around 200 betta 5 months old no fighting because they were raised together since birth. I'm sure there might be exceptions but these are beautiful fish that deserve more than a bottle.
I have seen " sorority's" work, in which female Betta can be kept together in a well planted tank but never heard of males being kept together. Do you mean females or males ?
