I really loved this man's story and seeing his farm! You can bet these fish are getting the best care they possibly can. He's got it down - the trick is to do water changes (prevent ammonia spike, but tannins - which turns the water brown - are great to have for your betta). This would mitigate the need for a filter. And of course, in a country with a stable high temperature like Vietnam there is no need for heaters ;) (Also, when you keep the bottles this close to eachother, there is a buffering capacity that will stabilize water temperatures when there is a change in outside temperature).
But let's all also appreciate all the other efforts he does for their care: checking them manually day by day (himself!), protecting them when he is not near (covers), he knows every single fish and what happens to them, he provides bigger tanks for bigger fish and for breeding (going up to 5L for a betta that is at the right size to transfer, which is over 1 gal). I am truly amazed with his passion and care, and hope all of his dreams will come true.

DarkLemon these containers are temporary. all betta fish breeders have the same set up, give or take. especially larger betta fish breeders that can’t possibly have 2.5 gallon tanks for each and every one of their fry. these aren’t their permanent homes of course, as they will be sold. as you can see in the video, all betta fish were healthy, active, flaring, brightly colored, and undoubtedly living in WAY better conditions in countries such as the U.S., as you’ll see a lot of sick or already dead betta fish in cups in chain pet stores or LPS in general. The difference between housing a betta in a small container over in Vietnam (or countries around that part of Asia) and somewhere like the U.S., is drastically different. Like the original comment stated, it’s all about daily water changes. The breeder, as you can clearly tell, is very passionate about his betta fish and checks up on them while cleaning their containers daily. While other here in the states, most people are ignorant on how to care for betta fish. Of course, i ABSOLUTELY do not ever think small containers should be permanent homes for bettas. the breeder in this video is doing absolutely everything right and his hard work is shown as the betta fish are stunning.
but when an american has a betta in a small tank people verbally harrass them
No I think it just lives there cuz I’ve been to a farm like this before and I think it’s permanent
@@carolinethompson8261 Often witnessed that onf facebook. I sent them a photo of betta farms with bettas place in half a gallon container, they went silent.
Awesome video, Kyle.
Unlike other vloggers who just do videos about what food they eat in vietnam. You bring vietnamese culture and people to us. One of a kind.
I used to do food a lot too and will do food in the future. Food is a part of life. I'm just happier right now producing content about people and their passions. Will my passion change? Yes. There's no need to compare. Everyone has their own path, journey, passion, video interests.
Agreed
Ж one thing they eat is pho which is Noodle with soup
These fish are probably cared for better than the suppliers of pet shop bettas in the US and UK, they certainly look in better condition than the ones I've seen in pet shops. Remember this is a commercial animal breeding facility and not someone keeping a few betta fish as pets.
yea i went to there shop the fish are really healthy i bougth 1 galaxy nemo for 25$ it was a bit expensive but still he was really beautiful
@@smug2198 i think that price is standard for colorful bettas like those. Kois at petco or petsmart and other local shops usually sell for $20. The more common bettas like veil tails will be cheap, like $3 is what I had to pay for my boy blue veil tail.
no i meant not the regular koi ones i meant the koi ones that are suitable for competition

A fish farm! Kyle, you must have been in heaven!
I was only planning to stay for a couple of hours, but I ended up staying for most of the day.
you got one here :)
Kyle - what is the address of this farm?
just contact Duy's facebook in description of this video.
Wow bro you promised and you delivered. Much luck to him, he's passionate and his farm looks nicely organized.
With that attitude and passion, he will always have a good business, great to see such positivity and commitment!
With enough passion, anything can be turn into a business. I like people like this guy ! Nice video Kyle !
I have to say I really love this video, his attitude and passion. His integrity motivated me a lot to keep working and living my own life.

Loved the farm. And his story is so inspirational. I also like the point he makes about the use of filters and heaters. Everyone has a technique and style that works for them. i hate it when hobbyists or breeders try to say their care techniques are the only and right way.
I definitely agreed when he said giving the fish everything will cause more problems. I mean sure, it's good. Filters and heaters. You're giving the fish the "best" health possible but it won't be able to develop resistant against sickness.

I like the video and wish this breeder the best of luck. But I think his idea of making fish resistant to disease by not providing a good environment is just bs. In a tropical country, with a good, biologically stable water source, with fish that can breath air and are evolve to live in small, dirty ponds (like bettas), yes, you can get away with it. But even these bettas aren't immune to high ammonia concentrations, so if you have a bigger tank, and tap water, you better have a filter that provides stability.
he made it perfectly clear that the water needs to be clean
Like someone else mentioned he keeps the water clean. However he is right about the importance of building immunity. I was reading a website the other day with old school Guppy breeders talking about the problem of some breeders these days not building immunity in their fish resulting in fish that die the moment an illness sets in or if they survive are constantly medicated due to how fragile they are.
It's not just fish either. In my country there's concern about an increase in illnesses due to people doing the same with their children.
There's nothing wrong with wanting the best for your animal or child or whatever your looking after but keep in mind that having the environment too clean is the same as having an environment too dirty with different bad results.
It's best to have it clean enough that it's healthy but allow some exposure so they develop immunity. A fish with good immunity will handle better if an illness hits than a fish with no immunity.
I remember seeing your vlogs a few years ago and I must say that the quality of your work has improved by a lot.
I really love the fish at 0:35! I have never seen one with such distinct spotting, the color so vivid! I hope he develops those at his new farm!
What an interesting documentary! I was unaware of the entire "fighting fish" scene. The colors of the fish are extremely beautiful and vibrant. I love how you introduce me to new aspects of the Vietnamese culture :) Thanks Kyle!
When I come back, we can start a betta club.

I wonder how he manage to keep all those betta looking so healthy😍. The colours are amazing and vibrant
I agree with his statement about not overly babying fish because it will disinhibit their ability to resiliency and immune system to minor fluctuations. Natural is the way to go!
If only I was this passionate about school & homework
Good video, raised plakats all my life. For those who dont know, they breath air and they do best in medium size jars with frequent water changes my oldest betta died at 3 years outlived every other betta in a large fish tank. Irritating how people who have little to no experience in bettas are criticizing this guys passion. I can bet he knows the bloodline of bettas just by its appearance.
bet it would of lived longer if you put it in an actual tank
I had one in a 1 gallon for over 5 years, it CAN be done!
@@XWierdThingsHappenX Ive seen someone posting his 7yr old betta living in 1 gallon.
The colors of his fish are beautiful! I really love the primary white with blue and red accents, like the fish he pointed out at 7:35.
It makes me wish I could travel to Vietnam, visit his farm and pick out gorgeous bettas to my hearts content. He is an inspiration.
Oh wow, you made my day. I do have some these bettafish at home due I felt sorry for them afraid they live in tiny Cubs too long very uncomfortable for them at my friends store in America. They're very low maintenance, they can live temperature at low 55 degree F in few months winter in America here, amazing. They're very smart n have feelings like human too that give them credit for as just robots, no sad, love, hurt, happy, nor missing, grateful etc... they happy to see me in thought they just look for food, but when drop food, they didn't care n keep waving me then go back sleeping, rest due I tap container or check out see they ok at night n cold, then they waved at me then keep sleeping, very touching to show they appreciate care about them. Hope they keep in these tiny cubs in few months for raising n sell, not too long very uncomfortable for them.
entrepreneurship. too many young people are made to believe they have to do the kinds of jobs everyone else does. Dare to strike out on your own if you have a good idea, and good plan.
Especially in the Asian culture. Grew up being told to work hard and not take any type of risk to do anything greater.
Kyle please do more fish related documentaries like this you have 1 million views for a reason. There are a lot of fish hobbyist.
I had a turquoise half moon betta but it died after a year, and currently I have a red and blue crowntail on my community tank. The colors on him it's just amazing.
How big is tank? Does he like being in community tank?
Great video. Wonderful fish, but more excellent is the winning spirit of the young man operating the business. I wish him great success. He deserves it.
The colors and the fins on these fish are just amazing!
There is passion there are all, thank Duy and Kylele
Here is the my favorite farm. Boss is a friendly and brave spirit. He infused spirit into us.
this video is amazing , cant stop watching it..
What do you think about this, aquarium Co-op did a video tour of an old fish keeper. He never did water changes on any of his tags and they were flourishing some of them could have never had a water change for over 25 years. He also had feathers in his store. Each betta fish had a DIY 1 liter container with a plant. Do you think that someone could create a DIY automated live food delivery system for racks on racks of betta fish. The automated delivery system would be delivering live animals that we're being grown on top of all of the rack stations.
Do you think a better could live indefinitely inside of 1 liter. I myself have kept a betta fish alive for 2 years and my friend's mother who died last year at the age of 86 said that she wants kept a betta fish alive for 12 years. In a 2-gallon vase with a plant.
This is amazing. Follow your passion, put in work and success will follow!
The betta which the ENGLISH speaking man pointed out was absolutely stunning and i cant say i have ever seen one as nice !
people on the comments be like: "omg you are commiting animal abuse these fish need a 5 gal tank, a filter and a heater wtfffffjdjwkzbciwkdjch"
Lmfaoo they dont realize that maybe this is where their fish comes from? 💀💀💀 hilarious
I love Bettas, and I love this farm! Nice to see he truly loves and cares for them.
Great interview questions and farm tour!! I love plakats and continue my passion like this young man. Thanks
Wow you have the most beautiful fish I've ever seen and I like how you recycle soda bottles and water bottles to raise your fish wish you could come to America or Taiwan
Amazing work and effort guys! Great video, stirring my passion for bettas as well!
I keep seeing his videos , just gets better and better , want to get in touch with him , but don't know how
This's My Friend! Happy with you!
this video inspried me a lot, thank you kyle
Thank you for your video, and thank you for the guy who was had the same with me. When I was listening to your story about our childhood, there's something rolling inside of me. hopefully, the younger generation will learn more things like this instead of technology and social network. The money can't help you survive while nothing else out there you can buy!
Did he just motivate me? Damn!! Thanks a lot bro!
The thing about resistance actually seem to make some sense. Because most of the time, when you buy a fish from Vietnam from farms similar to these, they usually die during delivery because something goes wrong (bag leaks, cold weather) in my experience but otherwise come extremely healthy and beautiful
loved this betta one! i used to have dozens myself. was even in the betta society. awesome episode kyle!
brother you are correct follow your passion, I love your positive attitude congrats to you and to your beautiful fish. ♥ from the philippines
I have my Betta in a 5 gallon tank with a heater and filter. He's very happy.
Very nice interview and thanks for the subs!
What a beautiful farm and a great story! Thanks for sharing this was us, the man is inspirational.
Recently i bought 8 bettas because my young brother wants it. 2 females and 6 males. I want to breed a new bettas so my brother can see many of them, the problem is, i don't have many water bottles... So i just searched and found this.... I almost give up because there is no water bottles to put the fish but this video is inspiring me. Thanks
Love the video.i hope you can come up with how the water was prepared before adding fish into it especially in the betta farm bussiness.
Seems like a passionate man that genuinely cares. How do you go about getting a fish from him?
Excellent video, I really like getting to see the human side of betta farms and the story of breeders
This is such a inspirational story! Follow your passion. I want to buy fish from him.
Congrats Kyle on 100k!
Such stunning fish - i was spectical about the smaller containers at first but they clearly flourish in this environment. I may have to downgrade my current bettas!
He was speaking in the context of his betta farm. The cost to keep each in a 2.5 gallon tank would kill his business (his containers are roughly 1.3 gal). Don't downgrade your bettas to smaller tanks. A 2.5 gallon is like a human living in a cheap motel so give your bettas at least a beautiful one bedroom suite (:
It's pleased to see the video. Can you make more videos on betta fishes and the farms' process for breeding? Love from India. We usually won't get to see the betta farms in Vietnam.

amazing man , i love fish and love this guy already :-) he is doing great job ,doing what you love so much is fantastic , keep going :-)
This guy just spit in the face of all the people who keep saying betta need bigger tank and filter and heater lmao
kingdemon89 true go see my comment
thinking that it really depends on what kind of weather condition of your farm, from experience, i know that in south of Vietnam, tropical country like Thailand, It stays quite warm even in winter, so ...
I, my-self had a couple of betta in France, and they can't survive heathly in winter without heater for sure. I did keep them in living room where temperature goes around 19 to 22°C ambiance. :D
I can understand about the heater because every animals has a certain range of temperature that they can live in, so yes, if the place you live has a weather that can change dramatically, a heater is needed
My brother in law in VN has his betta in a jar on his balcony. The water is brown and he doesn't ever feed it because mosquitos lay eggs in the water and it just eats the eggs. Its extremely humid and warm in VN and that is why in this video, the man is able to care for these fish without any sort of heating system.
Judging by the peerless quality of his stock, I would say that what this guy knows is more than the collective knowledge of all the fools brainwashed by PETA who mindlessly drones on & on about the myth that a single Betta "needs" a minimum 5 gallon tank to thrive.
I would like to take a betta, but given the different opinions I ask one thing: what values does the betta want? Soft, acidic water, rich in tannins and unique acids, isn't it? Thanks so much
Why were you letting the one flop around in the bowl towards the end? I'm just wondering if it is beneficial to the fish before transferring or if there was a reason behind it? No sarcasm, I'm truly curious.
dont really agree with the filter and heater but in a way i do.great video and was amazing to watch.
He is heating them naturally. The temp in South Asia can regularly hit 35°C. He has no need to heat the water. He doesn't need to filter the water because he's doing regular water changes. It the luxury of living in Southeast Asia with well water.
😍😍😍THANKS FOR THE BETTA VIDEO.LOVE IT

kyle what does he feed them with. so many fish so much food needed for them. did you ask what he feeds them with

Xem video này mình mới biết giá trị của con cá😊
Always wondered how breeders kept water conditions stable in the small buckets
greeting from west java, Indonesia, Kyle, tx for those good videos
I mom bought one for my sister one summer when she came to Jamaica it eventually became my fish nd this other summer my cousins came from Canada and fed the fish without asking r even knowing the fish was already fed and over fed the fish and it swelled so big it died I always wanted to get another ever since
His question about needing a filter and heater was eye opening. I know they obviously don't need a heater where they live, and filters are great for those of us changing water less frequently, but thinking of a fish needing to build resilience much like a human builds resilience as they grow hadn't occurred to me.
It really drives home the point that we shouldn't encourage breeding in sterile environments. Most of these fish are going to probably be shipped somewhere, and I would prefer they ship out hardy fish rather than finicky or frail fish that might possibly be bred to make more frail fish.
Far too many times on these videos I see people who have never bred anything in mass, complain about the environment of the fish. Not all farms are bad and think hard before you criticize the farm environment.
This person is very smart they should make a dangorus fish competition you should make One
