I was ready the pull the trigger on a Pan America. Dealer quoted me $25600 out the door. Bought a Super Tenere instead and saved enough money to buy a KLR 650. Screw H-D and their "premium" brand pricing.
Charles Stoddard, I dont know what dealer you went to . My local HD dealer here in NE PA put me on a 2022 Pan America Special in vivid black out the door at $21,000.00. Less that a comparable BMW GSA.
Love my Pan Am and my Road King. Made in America is important to some people. The Pan Am is an amazing piece of engineering, an historic bike for HD and I’m proud to own it…. Worth every penny
I can relate! In the summer of 2021 I owned a nice DRZ400SM, went to a HD demo where they just let me take the Pan America, solo. I was blown away, I felt SO confident. Summer of 2022 I traded my DRZ in on a 2016 Versys 1000, which I LOVE now, but on the ride home I was comparing it to Pan America demo, and I thought I had made a terrible mistake. That said, now I feel very confident on the versys, and I have no plans to trade it in. But if I had $20k opposed to the $9k I paid for my Versys…
I bought a Hayabusa, because it was $7,500 for a bike with 5,200 miles on it, basically brand new, and they are around $14,000 new. It's difficult to find any adventure bike for $7,500, and the Hayabusa with 114 ft lbs of torque, makes such a nice driving experience, the motor has so much torque, it always makes driving extremely fun. I can't really understand how people afford to pay a dealer, and pay the full coverage insurance. Insurance for a Hayabusa is $500 a month for full coverage. How does someone afford the loan, and $500 a month just for insurance, on something they can only drive 4 or 5 months out of the year? Buying a used motorcycle is so much cheaper because you don't need full coverage insurance. Liability insurance for the Hayabusa is only about $45 a month. If they didn't require full coverage insurance, I'd take out a dealer loan, and go buy a new ADV bike.
I have had a 21 PA. White and orange. It is my favourite bike ever and the best bike I have ever owned. It did have a couple electrical gremlins that were quickly resolved. It is still the best bike I have ever bought. You cannot help but have fun on this machine. It is my first HD, I have only owned Japanese bikes before. I was going to buy a bmw, but I took the PA for a test ride. Game over. I put a deposit and ordered the PA and waited all summer for it due to inventory issues. Best decision I ever made. No regrets.
I watched it happen to my riding partner because they where not prepared for the bike to still be up. Supposedly, it's been fixed through a software update but I'm not a big fan. I'd rather ingrain the habit of slide to the side and stretch than to surprise it didn't drop down.
Whitney for president! You should change that though to every parent gets a Pan-American. “We didn’t really care if it was a boy or a girl but she really wanted a Pan Am”😂😂😂
Hearing Whitney say how great the PanAmerica is... is awesome to hear and see. Well done Harley and Whitney and that other rider, whoever he is. lol. Ya'll do know this is a KLR650 simping video too. Just saying. Kawasaki just nailed it with that bike.
You should also look into how many of us can’t get to 3k miles in over a year due to how much it breaks down for mechanical and electrical issues. And then HD refuses to replace your bike for non lemon versions. They just tell you to keep bringing it back. And now many of us are about to run out of warranty and we don’t have a functioning bike. SOOOOOOO MANY OF US. don’t buy it! They do not support those of us who have issues. They just brag about the ones that run well or only have 1 or two issues and then claim they back their customers. If they stood by their brand as a name of quality, they would just replace our lemons as it does not meet their quality “standards”. It’s a huge gamble getting one of these for that alone. They’ll just force you to keep coming in for repairs unless you can afford a lawsuit.
I would unironically vote for a candidate running on a "Give everyone a Pan America" platform. Such adorable squids on that ninja. Keep the rubber side down kids.
Spite,....@4:33, "trusting the bike" is actually a fruition of the mantra of "becoming one with the machine" , Once Courtney is able to do that .... anything is possible that the bike can do
There are a lot of those old dusty Harley bagger guys making the switch. Once they see how much more comfortable the Pan America is as a very long tourer....and still able to confidently travel less than perfect dirt roads, they are sold. Plus you get better mileage and awesome power. I love mine and admit I do miss the sound of a traditional Harley, but the plusses far outweigh that. My butt and back are thankful, lol.
Cross country trip ft Whitney, Josh and Spite on Pan Am's. I'd watch for sure! Also the 300 may be workin' but it's doing it. And I bet they're having fun doing so, lol.
Having the privilege of working in a Harley Dealer up in Canada, I've had to ability to ride many many different bikes. And I genuinely love to be able to do that. I want a cruiser, I want a sport bike, but I definitely want a Pan Am. I love it. But I'm holding out to see if HD makes a 975 or equivalent and seeing if or how they make design changes. I was stoked to hear about the release and I'm still stoked about them now. I may have a bias towards Harley, because I was baptized in HD Motor Oil. But hell yeah, the Pan Am rocks.
The Versys-X 300 is a great intro adv bike that's priced entry level and SIGNIFICANTLY lighter. Owning both a Versys and a Pan America, I have to admit that the Pan America gets much more time though. Not a lot of places to take a big ADV off the asphalt where I'm located unfortunately.
Excellent vid. Sound you love the PAS so much as I did. I sold my GSA 2020 and purchased PAS 2021, everything is fine except the heat on the right side, especially in summer time, so I installed the titanium wrap on the header pipe and reduced 30%. Not sure if you are facing with this issue and what is your solution? Thanks & Subscribed.
I'm 5'6 and everytime I walk up to that thing it just looks way too much. I ride a Tiger 800 Low right now, but really want that beefy Pan Am! stupid 29" inseam :(
Perhaps test ride one with a low saddle and adaptive ride height? They are game changers making these things super accessible, and a 29" inseam is not nearly the problem that you would think.
I just traded my ultra limited, which I just loved riding.. it was less than a year old and I'd done just over 6000 miles. I now own a brand new Pan America. It'll be in my garage midday tomorrow. I'm so stoked. It looks effing fantastic. Can't wait.
I love the Pan Am, beautiful bike. Went to the local HD dealership to see the few they have in stock a few weeks ago. They had one used 2021 special with 30,000 miles on it and were asking $23,500 for it, which is $2000 over new MSRP. Also asked about the prices on the new 2023 Pan Am specials, the price was $29,000 for either which is an insane ask for theee bikes. They are awesome but not $36,000 OTD awesome. Nothing on the bikes over what came from the factory.
This is so on point, I went to look at a Low Rider ST, Harley dealer here in VA wanted 27k OTD.. I walked.. They told me that there no dealer markup lol
Disclaimer: I do not work for HD , or ride a HD. I just checked today, 3/20. Here in Dallas Longhorn HD has a 2021 Special with 800miles advertising for $17,499.00. So even with tax, it’s under 20k. Not too shabby. I feel under 20k for a low mileage one would be acceptable.
Yuba city HD in NorCal, 25otd with ARH, full black panniers and laced wheels included. Smokin deal and I got top dollar for my Triumph Tiger. Ask for Andy, he’ll earn your business!
I bought a PanAm here in the Philippines< It is a 2022 Special model but there is nothing special about it. It has been in the dealer for over 3 months out of 13 months of ownership and is still there. It has many problems and I am trying to get my money back.
If you like that, I'd love to see your opinion of the KTM 890 Adventure "Standard" with the seat in the low position. The R variant seems to be what everyone thinks they need/can do, but the standard is what they actually need. Plus a much better cost.
Not my favorite bike, but I appreciate that it doesn't don't have the whole pareidolia fairing looks like a human face thing going on. that shit is tired
