    Two corrections:
    - I accidentally say there's eight selectable characters in the DoA4 demo; There's actually only six
    - The Tekken Tag 2 demo costumes actually can't be transferred over to the full game. Thanks to strippinheat for the correction!

    Oh man, I remember the Club Nintendo demo for Smash 3DS. When they gave the demo to you, they gave you extra codes so you could give them to your friends. Since I didn't have any friends that had a 3DS at the time (except for 1, but he wasn't interested in the demo) I hopped on Twitter and said I'd give them away. I went from someone that had like 12-ish followers at the time, to over 300 overnight, it was insane.

    "I wonder how many people play Eddy because he was one of the only characters in the Tekken 3 demo." Suddenly I flashed back through time and realized a Gamecube demo disc is the reason I play Cassandra in Soul Calibur to this day. Couldn't tell you how many times I played the Viewtiful Joe demo on that disc, too.

    • @TheSeventhForce

    It's interesting you bring up Street Fighter not having a lot of demos as two demos I can never forget about are the MS-DOS demos for Super Turbo & X-Men: Children of the Atom.
    I specifically remember the ST demo having Ryu & Chun and the CotA demo having Wolverine & Psylocke with only the Savage Land stage to fight on.
    Also, in that same category are the demos for Virtua Fighter 2, Last Bronx & Virtual-On as well.
    Computer lab memories for sure!

    • @TheSeventhForce
      @TheSeventhForce  5 месяцев назад +1

      I actually wanted to have a section for demos for PC ports in the 90s; I recall playing the CoTA and Last Bronx demos back in the day, but the video was already big as is. 😂
      I think most of those demos can still be found today relatively easily, I know the Sega ones can, at least.

    My most remembered demo experience was when I let two classmates play the Pokken tournament DX demo on my switch during lunch and so they were finishing up a match as class started. The art teacher got really pissed they were being noisy and walked over and swatted the switch away and it slid across the carpeted floor like 3 yards

    Talking about fighting game demo disks is SUCH a good idea! Alot of great memories comes from demo disks, being able to experience all these games without having to pay full price. Especially when it comes to fighting games, the Soulcalibur III demo was a big influence in us wanting to play and buy the game.

    Didn't know about the xbox cvs2 demo, gonna have to look out for that lol.
    Also great to see some doa love! completely agree that the doa games are still beautiful to this day, and had no idea about the story mode in doa6 core fighters, suddenly now makes sense how weird the story is structured.
    here's a couple interesting facts about doa1 and 3
    the ps1 version of doa1 was also ported to arcades as dead or alive ++
    and the costumes of the doa3 booster disc were originally only added in the pal and japanese versions as those came out a few months after the american release, also in doa2 ultimate in order to unlock the booster disc you have to grind for items in survival and takes a long time

      The Smash 3DS demo was insanely hype to me since I got the Club Nintendo code. I actually downloaded it in a lobby of a hotel in Japan since I was traveling at the time. Just being able to play as Mega Man alone was enough for me to put over ten hours into that demo despite the lack of options

    I actually checked out the BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle demo once despite already having hundreds of hours in the full game because I was curious what the game was like before Season 2.
    Because the demo was released before the full game and never patched, you get access to a crazy glitch that grants you full, permanent control of both of your characters at once.

    Tekken 3 wasn't my first Tekken to play but in the arcades, I saw the intro and one guy playing King against the computer with multithrows.
    My main was Eddy because he did Capoeira. But my second was King because no matter what, a wrestler doing a cradle to kill was always instant awesome to the kid I was. I didn't play the demo, just the arcades to become my mains when I got Tekken 3.

    The only demo I remember getting to play was MVC: Origins' demo. Sadly, this was days before the title got delisted (thanks Disney) and I couldn't buy the whole game in time. I think it was also around the time Maximilian Dood was doing his first MVC Legacy series of videos and I learned about Fightcade. Go figure.
    I don't remember playing MSH, but I do remember MVC's demo only let you play as Ryu, Chun-Li, Wolverine and Spider-Man. Makes sense though it sucks Mega Man and Hulk, my two favorites, weren't playable.

    Oof, didn't need that nasty reminder of the awful demo usage limitations on 3DS xD
    As a PSone kid, of course demo discs have a big special place in my heart, I've even somewhat taken to collecting them (not just for PSone, but any console I can!) and even today they've shown me so many games I never would have thought I wanted.
    I, too, have the JoJo demo on my PS3. I kept meaning to buy it and saying "oh, I'll get it later" aaand then it got delisted xD
    And I absolutely grabbing that Xbox demo disc off eBay. I have CvS 2 on PS3, but having basically a mid-localization beta of almost the full game is just COOL.

      I forgot they were in the PS3 store! I still might get the physical versions to play on PS1/PS2 (PS1 & PS2 classics have some input lag on PS3, it's especially noticeable with fighting games) but I still might snag em just to have on the PSP and Vita side of things.

      @@TheSeventhForce even if there's some lag, I honestly grab them just to have them there as an option.
      Also, I seem to have whatever magic brain thing some people have that lets them adapt to lag without really noticing xD

    Y'know, given how people like to tear the newer Disney trilogy of movies apart (some complaints agreeable, a lot of 'em not), it's honestly kinda a breath of fresh air to see someone less knowledgeable on Star Wars. That said, if the TV movie you were watching was Phantom Menace... yeah, I don't blame you for falling asleep. I got through the "Prequel Trilogy" just fine, but I already know that my brain is built very different for better or for worse. George Lucas had to essentially create a multiple-season long "get out of jail free" card for that era of the series.

    Since you brought up SSB I may be alone on this one but am I the only one who thinks that some of the hate FE reps get is a bit overblown I mean sure 8 characters is a bit excessive and the fact they there all just the main protagonist is a little disappointing but at the same time people don’t realize this but Fire Emblem is huge in Japan whereas in the west it defiantly has its fans but in terms of Nintendo franchises it’s not quite as mainstream as per say Mario or Zelda.

    • @TheSeventhForce
      @TheSeventhForce  6 месяцев назад +1

      I think for some people, the frustration comes down to FE characters almost always sticking with a swordsman/woman moveset archetype, which can get old after a while, I suppose. While I don't play Robin, Corrin or Byleth (I'm a Lucina main, hilariously enough lol) I appreciate their distinct playstyles, at the least.

    • @maxtubb
      @maxtubb 6 месяцев назад

      @@TheSeventhForce Personally I think how they should have handle it from the beginning is to have each FE character represent the weapon triangle like you have Marth but you could have also have other characters from Fire Emblem who don’t use swords like Micaiah, Tiki, Anna or Hector if they done this I think the reputation for FE reps could have been better.

    I dunno about how much is/was on PS4 and PS5 but PS3 more than likely had the most demos I've ever seen on a console. I spent so many hours just trying out demos that were interesting me, and I'd say especially with my Japanese account, which felt like they had even more. Sadly, that was only around 09 and they've been wiped a few years later.
    And yes I got cucked by only having the demo of Jojo's. Apparently I was on the fence on it for too long b4 they took it down. Pretty unfair imo considering All Star Battle (which I bought along with the DLCs) was coming out and HFTF still had a strong following. FightCade has great controller support btw (was able to play HFTF with Gamecube controller). I used to play DOA5's demo too; Def one of the longest lasting demos on PSN
