Yul Brynner was, hands down, the greatest looking "lighter skinned" man to wear a shaved head. (I don't necessarily classify him as "Caucasian" due to his ancestry--which some say contained both Mongolic and Japanese elements.) That shaved look was absolutely perfect for him--it accentuated all of his exotic features. (Especially his eyes and facial bone structure.) Combine that with his physique and deep, commanding voice and it's no wonder women just absolutely swooned over him LOL!!

And to have him do that role so magnificently- you couldn't have a truly great movie that stands the test of working on 70 years of time without a bad guy who is totally relatable and memorable and mesmerizing. He still is. The terrible sadness of Ramses, continually in the shadow of Moses all his life- **all his life** undercuts all his meanness and you grieve with him. Especially when his son dies. And he finally sees what Nefertiri really is, she who has loved Moses this whole time, and understands that again Moses was the fortunate one. He escaped her. Now Ramses is stuck with her. Stunning.

Saw it again in 1965 at a re-release at a drive in with my family. I was 17.....and this time I realized why I never forgot him! He was so sexy, dangerously alluring and devilishly handsome....I couldn't take my eyes off of him! Of course, I couldn't have made that kind of assessment when I was 8 years old....but at 17 I totally got it! He is probably the singularly most exotic, intriguing, somewhat mysterious and unforgettable piece of masculinity that will ever grace the silver screen!

IMHO in all of Hollywood the best embodiment of Pharoah, any Pharoah goes to Yul Brynner. The chiseled face, body build and Edith Head's costume mastery...dang, does it get any better?

They said that eye makeup was required for the role of Ramses, but I don't see any on Mr. Brynner. My favorite movie of all time, and I'm 70.

You can see it most clearly in his final shot in the film. If you look at random photos of his from that era, you can see where the makeup must have been.

10 Commandments is the best biblical production of all times. Brenner and Heston were perfect and authentic. Yule owned Ramses.

If a movie was made decades ago but you can watch it in 2024 and still root for the bad guy you know his presence in this movie completely eclipses Heston who is no slouch in his role. The second most notorious role of bad guys is Edward G. Robinson as Dathan, unbelievable we all still say his movie lines in our house when we talk over money or greed in the world "Did you carve those stones to become a prince over us" "A god of gold a golden calf".
