The reason they have the logs is, that if they get stuck in the mud, they will tie the log to the tracks to help get traction.

No dude the American tanks had really shitty armor all around because they were made so cheaply to be able to mass produce like you can make 15 Abrams from ww2 for right around the same for 1 tiger tank the logs could have some use for that in the mud but ultimately it was to add extra protection to the sides from lighter rounds being fired

Fun fact: The reason Russian tanks have the log is because it was used to help them get out of mud and bad terrain. As I understand it, the log would be chained to the front of the tracks when stuck, and when the tracks were moved, the log would be pulled under the tank, giving it a sort of hard ground to drive on. It was fairly effective and very cheap, so it became standard on heavier Soviet vehicles where recovery was more difficult.

So basically yes, it's a spoiler, in that it's also supposed to increase traction, but it's tailored for use on Russian roads where traction problems may be not what you'd expect...

The Death Claw was easy...after killing a level 30 cave cricket 🦗 with a security baton at level 5. It took almost 20 minutes of nervous sweating and desperately eating everything in sight and what did I get for it? Enough XP to hit level 16. (Word of advice before using a mod that makes dlc monsters spawn on the main map, get to level 30 first)

It does have a really formidable gun, if you bring HEAT in it you can easily frontally pen (and often one shot) any WW2 design and quite a few post war designs, the downsides are huge, no armour, no roof, slow, only 18 gigantic easy to hit rounds and a reload time only a KV-2 could be jealous of

Logs are for unsticking tanks that are bogged in the mud. You chain them tothe treads and it applies an irregular force on the mud and allows the tanktoclimb out. Even modern tabks such as the T-72/80s use them just in case. Just thought i would post this. great video lol

As soon as I downloaded the game after watching a Badger Vid, I got a War Thunder ad, and I've never gotten one ever before, now, they're commonplace, even though I literally have the game
The log on the back of Russian tanks is actually a standard issue, yes, official standard issue, undiching device. If the tank gets stuck, the crew gets out, chains the log to both tracks on the ground side, then drives. The log apparently usually gave the tank enough extra traction to escape even deep mud. So yes. At one point, logs were standard issue Russian tanker gear.
Blerp Derp I’m fairly certain that logs, and other log like equipment, were also a feature on British tanks. I don’t know, though, the last time I did any research was five years ago.
@@felinecube4953 I definetly remember reading about about and seeing photos of British WWI rhomboid tanks that they had basically a huge railway sleeper on top, so in case the tank bogs, its crew would chain this sleeper to the treads to give them an increase in surface area.

Logs were careid around for the purpose of being used when the tank got stuck. Nobody really saw them as extra armor and the *could* work that way only with heat rounds
Russian tanks have logs to help with muddy ground.
The logs act like a portable "stepping stool" for when the tank gets stuck.
You put it in front of the tracks and the tank has something solid to grab on to.

Fun Fact 2, The reason the Russian school bus looks like a... School bus... Is because of how they had to house the engine. Whereas every other heli in game used a Turbine (or multiple) to create power, in the nose of the Bus is a russian radial engine; exactly like the ones in thier fighter planes/bombers. The engine, being much taller and wider but shorter in length than the turbines nesscitated a tall, wide, but stubby design. You can actually see the intakes and exhaust for it on the top of the nose.
What about the big ass log on the tank.
Actually the Mi-4 is a literal copy of the American H-19 Chickasaw, made a little bigger to fit the Russians needs.

Such a good example of Hollywood being the best propaganda machine... Now 2 funny facts:
1) the number of losses USSR had for 10 years in Afghan is 2-3 times less than a number of people Russia loses in traffic accidents every year;
2) speaking of WW2, USSR had terrible losses of ~ 25-27 millions of ppl, BUT. Half of these were civilians, who were starved or gassed or burned by the Germans, so if we count the military losses, the score was about 9m Germans for 12m Soviets, which isn't such a spectacular result.
Yeah, the Winter War, which is always shown as a massive Soviet fuckup. Well, it was quite a fuckup at first, mostly because of bad logistics and lack of training. And all the Western world was happy to see the Red Beast stopped by tiny Finland. However, Soviets learned that valuable lesson, spent 3 months on training and after that they mowed 2/3 of the Finland army and all Finland defenses in less than 3 weeks. At this time the Soviets had enough power to take Helsinki in a month, and Finland had literally nothing able to stop them. Yet they were kind enough to stop at the line they declared before. So, after all, USSR took what they wanted and got away with it. And these mistakes of the Winter War were quite a lesson to upgrade the Soviet Army before the German invasion. A fuckup you say?

There are two ways to start, gain a sponsorship account from the developers with everything unlocked and be a shit ( these guys are exceptions ), or start from the bottom of the pit and be a master when you get to the helis and jets.
There's no actual WW1 tanks. It's interwar tanks up to modern.

Actually, funny story about the tire iron deathclaw. My first playthrough of the game. I had ZERO guns, but I did join the brotherhood, so when I was marching into the radioactive zone (I forget what its called) I was only armed with power armour and a shock baton. That day I killed 2 death claws, and many other terrifying creatures

funfact: soviet tanks had logs on them to deal with mud season, tank treads would get stuck so you place a log under it to get purchase and move forward.
logs are for armoured recovery in mud you put it in front of the tracks and when it is wedged between the tracks you drive forward and it gives you traction also can detonate HEAT warheads if they hit it possibly making it inaffective
