Pro tip soak the heat wrap before removing, also helps when installing water doesnt let the fibers turn to dust reeking havoc on skin on top of breathing it in
Yep. I’ve found working with the really brittle wrap, mix in a bunch of “ baby magic baby bath” keeps it wet longer and makes it easier on the skin, as well as keeping it from going airborne for much longer.
I installed a Katech remote bleeder on my ZR1 without removing anything. My hand and forearm were small enough but it wasn't pleasant. I sleeved the line beginning to end with a DEI heat sleeve, 500 degrees direct touch protection, 2000 degrees radiant! Kept it as far away from heat sources as possible.
Most of the newer HX Pumps need to have fluid head pressure before they'll turn on. You need to connect it to a garden hose and get water flowing through it then turn on the power and see if it starts up.
Hi, I love cars and I love salvage auctions! I just found your channel and I know I’m gonna be binge watching it! I love watching cars being repaired. I used to watch my dad when I was a little girl and he used to say, where’s your brother he’s the one that supposed to be watching me not you. Lol I’m still watching and my brother still isn’t but I’m glad I found your channel.
Also would love to see that join button so I can help support the channel and continue this premium content (what you do would be my drean job). Also extra bonus content for members would be dope, such short videos of cost breakdowns for stuff you order that you dont have laying around, and even the stuff you salvage and sell to recoup costs.
I had an 84 Corvette that caught fire almost exactly in the same location on the driver side. The thing that made it worse was the valve covers were made of magnesium. You know...to save 4-oz when you have a 3400 pound car.
After a forensic examination we can neither confirm nor deny if this was a Chevrolet or even a ZR1. It appears the car was an Autobot that got murdered about 1,000 years ago on some distant planet.
hes right that's why i love your videos and there's big money in salvage cars epically high end cars like this and like you said about buy parts a few years ago and now there double or triple the price love the videos bro keep them coming :)
I understand ranking each of the salvage jobs by profit dollars, but for me, I would rank the salvage jobs by percent return on invested capital. For example, the mustang returned $13.3k on a $8.4K investment. That's approximately 157% return on the $8.4k investment. Whereas, the corvette salvage only yielded an 88.5% return on the investment. Different ways of looking at it. Not saying one way is better than another, just different. I'm sure there are other things to consider, as well. For instance, the difficulty in salvaging the parts and how long it took to sell the salvaged parts. I'm sure there are other things involved that you may want to share. Btw, thanks for the content. It's informative and entertaining.
I hope when the parts are listed on Ebay you tell the buyer it was in a fire before they find out when bearings fly out from being boiled and stuff is warped
I dunno how you could have faith in any spare part from that car. Except maybe the undamaged panels. Even those probably went way over heat tolerance. Seriously how can you sell any part from this and give any warranty at all.
Im usually not impressed by allot of things but its pretty cool how all the resin burned away and left the carbon fiber mat, its honestly crazy how tough carbon fiber is.
I remember before y'all blew up commenting on the cammed uncamned yellow Z06 lol the good ole days you guys are killn it now keep up the awesome work and content...
Bro, first time watcher and i would like to say bravo on some of your projects. I could never buy that vette for that money and NOT knowing what the real pay check looks like LOL… Much props to you. Watching some of your other vids and you get a hand 👏
The salvage content just feels like you get my hopes up for something cool and dash those hopes to pieces.....pieces and pieces of car 😉. I like seeing them go back together not taken apart.
I had to laugh when you said "if you get these knobs in black anodized it's $56,000. That's a down payment on a house.". Lol Amelia. I forgot you're in Cali. I'm in Ohio. My 3 bedroom house was $34,000. So maybe $560 would be a down payment here. Lol.
*_You want a new number one on the board thats an import... go get a salvage BMW F80/G80 - F82/G82 M3/4!_* *_Your heads will spin with how expensive the parts are!_* *_(It is truly unbelievable!)_*
After dealing with LS3 heads that came off a Camaro that had a much milder fire there is no way that block and top end is worth anything. It’ll be nothing but Dropped valve seats and other issues. Any hardening the heads had was gone and will cause constantly lifting heads due to deflection, rocker arm threads randomly giving up etc… Sleeves/bearings/ all saw heat well over their normal tolerances.
I tend to agree with you, highly suspect at a minimum. It blows my mind he get's such insane money for used parts, especially highly questionable ones! But some of the content is entertaining.
Try to find a crashed LS1 Fbody, they've almost tripled in value since covid and the parts are getting a lot harder to find, especially for the Trans Am Firebird
I am a retired arson investigator and you did identify the source of the highest heat which probably means the point of origin. Part failure or insurance job. who knows.
Dammit. I need to keep a sharper eye on your website. C6ZR1 gearsets can still be obtained by my dealership but the gearset alone OEM is like $2500 at an employee price.
With the demon, on most Mopars coolant enters the oil pan when it sits so the oil sits on top of coolant/ water, and i remember the demon being sealed all though burned.
This is an interesting show. I just started watching and i cant believe you could get 13 out of that. Im happy for tou tho. It would take a huge set take that risk. Way to go.
Why not consider sandblasting with a very small grit that Monster clutch pressure plate then re-finishing it with a clearcoat? You could probably call it a salvaged kit and then sell for at least half the price... then again for that to be worth it- since your business is into salvaging I would consider buying a sandblaster.
when jacking up one end of car it folds in half then squishes down into the jack type of next project? the bolts are all perm-ah-rusted and one brakes 4 wrenches trying...
Hey buddy that car has a vegence racing performance pack stage 2 on it look it up theres vids on everything your looking at your deff right that car is a money maker 👌

Can someone explain the purpose of a torque tube?? I get the purpose of the transaxle for packaging and weight distribution.. but why isn't there juss a driveshaft connecting them??? Is it stronger or what!?!?! Thx!!
Def worth the 14k parts are getting hard to find zr1 parts at that would sell quick you can’t just go down to gm dealer and order the shit you may get lucky finding some but others will be hard to find

It's so hard to see 15k in that burnt pile of ZR1!
Agreed.
Unless you're in the part out business I bet it's hard for you to see how alot of things are done.
@@angelcelis9090 you would be correct!
@@angelcelis9090these are the same people who think a clean title actually means the car hasn't been crashed lol.

You probably could have found a buyer for that heat exchanger pump. Most likely easy to rebuild

I would make a table for my shed out of the rim that's trashed, which would make an awesome addition to the things I have collected over the years

I upload stuff like that when I can on @leec my side channel!
This is why car prices never go down smh.
Especially deep pockets like scrap life jeans have.... that looks like garbage if worth 3 figures?
What an idiotic take.
You guys are amazingly talented and looks like you have fun doing it - even if no money made sometimes! Keep up the good work!

Agree. Although, if we are looking for alternatives, you could also price it based on TOTAL labor hours. (He only counts garage hours)
Most recent odometer reading for this car was 38,453 as of 11/08/2022 per Carfax.

That burnt side caliper a good rebuild kit to replace the seals and it would still be ok.
Sounds like a Country song I can feel the knob not the shaft 😂😂.
It takes 1220 degrees to melt aluminum. That's insane how hot that got to melt that frame away like that.
I recently just got a 2008 zo6 with no drive train or motor , and need that trans , diff and torque tube!
That LS9 would look great in my 71 Pontiac Lemans GT-37!
Been doing the same thing, buying, fixing, parting out cars for a long time. Usually can make 100% profit if you know what you market is.
You can't make 100% profit, because you had costs.
You are not understanding what profit means.
