Only thing. I graduated Benning in 03. No disrespect whatsoever but I got my opinion bout females being in the infantry. Not saying a woman's place is in the kitchen but a female don't belong in the infantry. If females had the same physical fitness requirements the males do it might be a different story. But they don't. Just makes me question if they really earned that blue chord
They're not very common. I've yet to see a single female grunt thus far in nearly 6 years. I can imagine that most of them get sent to the training room and push papers for a 1sg. Kinda like how females have been eligible to become rangers for the past few years but not a single one has actually been accepted to join the regiment.
There aren't many infantrywomen. Women interested in combat MOS's tend to go armor/cavalry or artillery where the load bearing issue is less of a problem.
Depends on the female, had a female in my osut cycle that (no disrespect) was built like a muscular Ms, Trunchbull from Matilda lol. The girl could move and throw weight, wasnt in my platoon but from what I heard she was a pretty decent shot too.
@@vancethompson3858I’m about to ship off to infantry OSUT and I’m a female. I understand women aren’t welcomed in the infantry but that just means I have to work very hard.
I held the same mentality until a female body builder/fitness guru in my company named Steiner was used by the drill sergeants to humiliate me one day. My arms were so tired I couldn't get the ruck up over my head with my arms extended when commanded to do so, so they got this absolute rock solid (regarding muscle) woman to stand directly in front of me and repeatedly state "I'm better than you. I'm better than you. I'm better than you. I'm better than you. I'm better than you" as she succeeded in doing the task. Throughout the entire cycle, at least the parts that I saw, she dominated. She was only like 5' 3", but consistently competed with the big dogs. She was the second fastest person in the company. Earned the nickname "Mighty Mouse" from the drills because they respected her so much. She *is* better than me. She made it to the end, and I didn't. I sprained my ankle on Gore Frost and when faced with being recycled almost two months in, I chose to go home with the intent to return another time. Finally got home after 16 weeks, and that was over a year ago. I'll respect her with every fiber of my being for as long as I live. Now I seek redemption, and part of me hopes that after I return to claim my blue cord, that someday I'll find a way to talk to her again to let her know how large of an inspiration she was to me. I really look up to her.
I miss the army, but goddamn we spent so much doing nothing after seasonal training ended. Would’ve love to hit the gym during off time or go to online school. Hopefully some changes occur during down time.
That's the army in general. It wouldnt be the army without wasting a lot of time and doing things like fucking off in the motorpool not just on "motorpool monday" but tuesday - friday with endless connex layouts. I can imagine that infantry is even worse with not only pointless connex layouts but also scrubbing toilets and mowing lawns for the lower enlisted. Even in the field, you're just sitting there in the woods for weeks wasting time I would imagine the marines are just as bad if not worse (although I've had marines tell me they don't do the motorpool like we do). I would imagine that the airforce wouldnt do their people like this and that more people in airforce would be doing something more productive like online college
@@golfery5119 I don’t miss MM, we literally did nothing for vehicles that hardly moved during summer through fall. I actually saw soldiers in the field who had to ride the vans because they were not allowed in LMTV's or Humvees, and they had their legs in braces and using walking sticks to move around. I myself a few weeks later after the field got a bad second degree burn on my arm (92g) and wasn't given quarters then the next day had to be in a mass layout in the goddamned motorpool and I thought that was bad. Biggest mistake the army could do was let females are in the infantry and male dominated roles. Not saying women can’t dish out the same, but the endurance level between sexes doesn’t come close to what a male brings to the battlefield.
It’s terrifying. And when a real war starts they are gonna get a lot of boys killed. Either trying to help these females or them just being incompetent. It’s gonna be a rude awakening. Better pray to god they stay in the rear with the gear when the unit gets deployed

And speaking of baby....you can't spell infantry without infant. People in the army in general (to a much greater degree than navy and air force) get treated like little retarded children and it will be even worse with 11b. So you got the baby right.
I served 8 years in the United States army infantry,. If you plan on following in my footsteps as my brothers you better make sure that you do it with pride remember your oath Never surrender. You are the infantry kill with extreme prejudiced and take no prisoners period welcome to the future.
It is okay to be scared and anxious and use it to finish the training, you will be tired, exhausted, hurting and feel like it is never ending and sometimes you might think that it doesn’t make sense anymore but just keep pushing and do what you’re told, the fastest way to finish the OSUT is to graduate, think like a leader and act like a leader but always remember good leaders doesn’t just give out orders and watch, you do it first proficiently and confidently. All the things that you are doing at BCT/OSUT will prepare you when you get to your unit and everything will make sense. “Consistency is the key” -it is easier to maintain than to restart all over again”
Stay out of trouble, keep your distance from female's because be wary of what you say and do near females or else you will get SHARP'ed/EO'd. Mind your own business. Everything is provided, food, shelter, etc., so therefore it's all easy and that is why remember that you are getting paid to do the right thing and do your job, EASY!. The only difficulty is the people, yes the job of the training/life but the difficulty the people, some may not like you and you to them, but remember that don't make things personal no matter what, it's all business, be mature about it, be neutral, don't take sides, be NEUTRAL, don't play favoritism, be a good role model as to help other's and don't be a singled out person which of course to be a team player, be understanding and help those that need help and don't make things personal, you are getting paid to do the job which is easy. Not everyone is your friend, it's all business, so therefore be careful, NOT EVERYONE IS YOUR FRIEND!!!!, everyone joins the military for different reasons. When in doubt, in regret for joining, remember that don't be suicidal, it's not worth it of being suicidal, it's still just another job because you are getting paid...money is involved, even if you don't like it and yes it's the military and not civilian world, it's still a job, you are still getting paid. You can still quit, just say that you refuse to train, and act upon and be ready for harassment and bullying but you can still get out of basic training if you regret the MOS and don't wanna continue, you will get general discharged.
Everything you need to know is in Forrest Gump. Do whatever the drill sergeant tells you to do and take care of your feet. Take extra socks to the field in ziploc baggies, keep your feet dry. Use Dr. Scholl's foot and body powders. Other than that, if its in summer, freeball it (no underwear) and don't be that guy.

you want to sweep motorpools, scrub toilets and mow lawns and waste a whole lot of time, moreso than other soldiers, and be treated like a little kid? go 11b!
There are infantry companies on Fort Hood. They act as mechanized infantry in support l of the Cavalry Units. Unfortunately a lot of the personnel in those companies are the low speed high drag, out of shape, low achievers, no ambition types. Possibly because higher quality infantry soldiers volunteer/end up going to airborne/light infantry units. Fort Hood is not ideal if you really wanted the infantry experience. But some enlisted leaders are trying their best to change things there so hopefully one day it’s different.
Infantry means ground troops who fight on foot. With rifles, machine guns, etc. Both the Army and Marine Corps have infantry, and no not every Marine is an infantryman. The difference is that, at least in doctrine, all Marine infantry is geared towards amphibious warfare, while the Army have Air Assault (helicopter), Airborne (paratrooper), mechanized, etc infantry. They also have slightly different unit structures. There are more men in a USMC infantry squad than an Army one. In practice they're about 95% the same and in most wars, they're doing the same shit. Just in a different uniform. Also in reality, the Army can absolutely do amphibious assaults (they did plenty of it in WW2, most notably Normandy), and the Marines can do air assaults.
Um... a soldier who has infantry 11b as his MOS as opposed to most other soldiers who only do basic infantry training in basic training and bits and pieces of it later?
Have to feel sad for the good kids who just wanted the real experience instead of this kindergarten experience. But that’s on senior leadership who sold them out to score political points. Our present day military is not ready for the reality of war.
Was in bravo 2-54 graduated December 16th 2016 that wasn’t too long ago and stuff looks way different. There were no women. And we didn’t have a 100 yard run or whatever that was we had a shark attack that was much more intense. Drill sergeant’s name was butcher and he was way scarier than these guys
Question. I’m wanting to be a infantry solider after basic. Do you have to do airborne? I’m not the biggest fan of heights but can deal with them if needed I just wanna be a field Infantry
No but If you are going infantry route i would get a school contract to airborne school its the easiest baby school the army has but airborne infantry is just a light unit they still practice jumps but i doubt it will be used in combat all infantry dedicates to train in the field too it dosent matter whether you are in a mech or light unit you will do the same shit
A ton of Airborne soldiers are afraid of heights. I'm deathly afraid of heights, but somehow helicopters weren't bad at all. If you get Fort Campbell in your contract, you can do Air Assault School. Beats jumping out of a plane. You just have to worry about all the crashes.
You know what's interesting is the people who keep parroting this are actually creating the lame ass culture. You guys don't realize YOU are the ones shifting the perception of the Army. Everyone else is doing the work or cheering the work being done. Maybe stop.

I get the need to make sure everything is up and running or the importance of being ready if something happens, but damn. There was a buddy of mine who begged his NCO to allow him to do his online classes after PT because we would just sit at troop till lunch (summer time). Good dude, he has the best PT score and knew his shit. So it’s not like he was going to jerk off for 6 hours.
@@Dee-ye2dk If I could do the military over again, I'd join the airforce. damn the army and I couldnt imagine doing combat jobs in particular.
@@golfery5119 I did infantry and was stationed in Germany. I will give the infantry credit for having me in the best shape in my life, but it’s not for the long term. My friend who passed away, SPC Diaz. We were doing a ruck march with 40lbs, NCO pushed the squad to run. You and I know that’s a no go. Diaz foot ended up separating internally. After he came back from hospital they asked him to come to duty the next day. I’m not shitting you either. On my life this is a true story.
@@Dee-ye2dk pure ridiculousness. that's worse level of bullshit as what I had at fort campbell where general jp mcgee ordered just about (some people did get to stay in the rear) the entire 101st division to sit in the field for three weeks in November 2021 and April/May 2022.
I hope your battle buddy was able to to as high a percentage of disability as he could when he was still living.
I'm not saying the entire military is bad and that the marines and army are complete shit and the air force is all good (it isn't) but yeah, damn the military and if anyone's going to join, join the goddamn air force where you wouldnt have quite this same level of crap to deal with like the army.

17 and honestly very scared but hope it all goes well, anyone have any advice for fort benning
“Consistency is the key”
-it is easier to maintain than to restart all over again”
Get in shape BEFORE you go.

@@davehayabusa996 It's 1st Cav, but there are combined arms battalions (mixture of infantry, tankers, and cav scouts)
Weak
There are infantry companies on Fort Hood. They act as mechanized infantry in support l of the Cavalry Units. Unfortunately a lot of the personnel in those companies are the low speed high drag, out of shape, low achievers, no ambition types. Possibly because higher quality infantry soldiers volunteer/end up going to airborne/light infantry units. Fort Hood is not ideal if you really wanted the infantry experience. But some enlisted leaders are trying their best to change things there so hopefully one day it’s different.
I don’t understand. Are infantries like Marines?
Who would want to enlist when the standards are lowered year after year?

No, you definitely don't have to Airborne.
