Nicely done on this video sir. I have been hunting public land with a saddle the past two years now, I have really enjoyed this style of hunting. I think you did a great job explaining to others how easy and simple this style of hunting is. Thanks for taking the time to share this video with us and I hope you have a blessed week. Dale
@@TheBudgetSportsman Yes sir, I was the same, but I honestly dont think there could be a better way to hunt public anymore, Im convinced, its perfect for me. I know everyone has their own opinion, and I even bought a lone wolf hang on last year to take on the longer all day hunts, never used it, it is still hanging in the garage on a nail. I used my saddle the whole time I was able to hunt prior to my thumb injury which cut my season in half,. But I have a hang on, for back up I guess.? Keep up the fun videos my friend and have a blessed weekend. Dale
Good job with the saddle videos! The saddle bug has recently bitten me although I had talked smack about them for a couple years now. I tried a buddy's and I could immediately see the benefits for me and my style of hunting. Leaning toward the Phantom as well.
I use a ring of steps and do the off-side shot like you demonstrated, simply rotate slowly around the tree. For you, you can add a couple of steps to the strap for your platform and it would help you a lot with the same shot.
Not at all. One thing to point out is that shooting 360 degrees is very possible but in a hunting situation some shots do require a lot of movement. I still set up expecting deer on my strong side.
do you think it would be possible to pull off those shots without a platform? i planned on using the top step of either stepp ladder climbing system or climbing sticks so i dont have to drop $170 on a platform
I tried practicing off the top steps of my sticks and found it much more difficult and uncomfortable than using the platform. With some practice it’s probably doable but not as easy. Also some guys will use 2 or 3 WE steps for a platform/ring of steps and that probably would make it easier to maneuver as well.
Hawk has a small platform that attaches to the top of their Helium sticks. That costs about 40 bucks from their website, and their sticks are great. You can also get a "ring of steps" from the Bullman Outdoors website for about 70 bucks.
You will typically not move as much as I showed in this video. You will set up for expected deer movement on the strong side of the tree. The other shots are possible but not what you would plan for.
@@TheBudgetSportsman 👍👍👍 I'm 6 ft and a petite 235! I'll be a half a century old Thursday and not as agile as I used to be!🤠 I need a firm place to plant it!!!
Ok. Glad we all have options that fit our personality. The idea is that you are going to plan for shots to be on your strong side, but can make other shots if things don’t go as planned, something I can’t do from a treestand.
One of the best videos on the subject!
Great video. That's EXACTLY how I teach people to make those shots. Well done.
Thanks Greg! I found it surprisingly easy and natural. Big thanks to AJA for letting me learn in his phantom. I’m a huge fan!

Thanks Dale,
I was skeptical at first, but after trying it I’m becoming a big fan. Looking forward to being more mobile on public land.

You make it look easy! I would probably have my pack hanging in the way 😜 Thanks for putting this series together 👍
Well I did consider that the pack and camera arm might complicate the situation 🤣
Again...more to come...
Thanks for the video. I agree with you keep it simple is the best way to go. Well done.
Thank you!
Ok this was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching
Great video!
Just started practicing with a phantom and a one stick/rappel method. Gonna bring the bow up soon. Thanks for the insight!!
Thanks Ben! I haven't tried one sticking or repel yet though I have to admit I am a bit intrigued by the idea.
Eastern Woods Outdoors. They build your stick to order. Also carries the rappel kit.
DANO is the MANO!
Yes, I’m familiar with them, I even met Dano last year. Just can’t bring myself to cough up the $$$

My experience was much the same. Really wasn’t interested until I tried it one time. Then the bug bit hard.
Great pointers. Thanks
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
Great job man. I subscribed.
Thank you!!

Thanks for the tip. I’m pretty happy with just the platform for now.
Great video, thank you. I will be trying a saddle this season.
Good luck and enjoy!
Great vid. What's the saddle that you use ?
Tethrd Phantom.
Great video on this subject. I’m new to saddle hunting, so did you find that you needed to lessen your draw weight to shoot out of a saddle?

Nice video. Have tried late last season didnt like much. But you have to trust ropes!
I hunted from a saddle all last season and I loved it. I think the key is starting slowly and at ground level until you learn to trust the equipment
You mean practice at ground level not hunt at ground level. Thx for your reply
@@DavidGonzalez-ek3zh yes practice before season.
Swinging around the tree like thet is a ton of movement. I havnt tried it yet but I hate the tether over the shoulder shot. It feels so off to me.
Yup, gettin a saddle setup.
Awesome! I'm sure you will enjoy it!

But the movement issue to me says you will get busted alot? Great vid

Time to upgrade that bow lol
Why? It shoots nice, it’s relatively light, and I’ve killed more deer with it than any other bow I’ve owned.
No Sir! That is definitely not for my fat butt! I will not try fishing out of a kayak either. Thanks for the video. Stay Safe and GOD Bless!🙏🕊🇺🇸
I guess that’s why we have options! Thanks for watching.
