I wasn't sure if this board was real as it's not listed on the Brook website. But it's pretty cool. Finally a replacement/alternative to the old, discontinued PS360+.
I only wish the retro board included N64. I still have a lot of fight games on the system like Killer Instinct Gold (which is still my fav on the system) fighter's destiny and some Mortal Kombat games. It plays on the NES so I wish they would have just went the extra mile for the Nintendo 64
Do both boards need their own set of function buttons or can both boards be wired to the same 3 function buttons? I have limited space in my stick that will only fit 3 function buttons. I notice that your stick has 2 set for each board. Lmk pls thanks.
Sort of related question to the video. Can I just use the 20-pin multiplier kit with a PS360+ board and a Pico Fighting Board to share the main buttons and stick inputs? I have my wires set up like yours including a board that goes to RJ45 jack and the other board to USB jack. All I really want to do is just share inputs between both boards.
I have 2 brooks retro boards in a New Net City but only player one works correctly and i cant figure it out. Player 2 the buttons are mismatched or not working. Do I need a Brooks UFB?
That’s a tough one to troubleshoot with one more details. How are the boards interfacing with the control panel? Jamma breakout? Directly into the PCB? These are older PCBs nowadays, might be beneficial to update and add some more console compatibility.
Since Brook made retro adapters such as USB to PS1/PS2, USB to Genesis and PC Engine, USB to Saturn and Dreamcast, and recently USB to NES/SNES, the Brook Retro Board is almost redundant...
for hardware solutions you can look for upscalers or possible hdmi mods to your consoles. Software wise: emulator setup on pc or a a raspi setup via a recalbox or retropie
so whats the deal with multiple systems? say i want my stick to support snes, ps1 & pc engine? do i have to open and rewire buttons each time or is the external connector/adapter swap enough ?
Hi. I know this might not be seen but I'm very interested in doing what you did and having two neutrix ports, can I do this on a ESPADA? as it only has holes for one port. If you see this, Thank you for your answer 👍
Bit of a weird question but have you tried to connect your stick to both a retro and newer console at the same time and see if the stick works on both simultaneously? The reason i ask is i made a cab and have both a retro pie and dreamcast hooked up to it and Im trying to find a way to easily transition between the 2 without opening it up every time i wanna switch.
In order to do that you can’t setup the boards the way I shown. You’d have to link board boards power and grounds and connect each console to the boards separately
I have a question for Jonyfraze. on the Retro Board you are reviewing there is a long blue part on it. Could I connect a cartridge harness to that spot? It does look like that I could. What do you think.
can I have both cables plugged in? I'm planning on having one plugged into my PC, and the other plugged into my dreamcast. So I can just have a KVM switch the input over to the DC, do the command and switch it over to the Retro board without any issues. Reason being is that I want a permanent solution for my arcade cabinet.
hi jonyfraze, love the vid! regarding the ps4 compatability its not stated on the item description for any of the sellers. Does it work fine? thanks dean
jonyfraze which screw terminals would I need to use? The retro or the UFB? Someone told me that I need to bridge the screw terminals together with an cable, and use the 20 pin multiplier for the new I puts for simultaneous work
I'm confused on one item. Does this board support pc as well? It denotes that it is pc compatible, but how? I'm assuming it uses the generic joypad Windows driver for this and not the native windies Xbox type drivers. Does the ps3 usb cable support the PC option or would I need a separate pc sub cable? I was hoping for native pc support. It would be great if the retro board could at least support xbox360 as an option for pc use. Many pc games work well with 360 support.

Hey Jony. I can’t seem to find anything for the physical switch to switch between the boards. Where would one find one?

i have the same setup inside a 1 player astro city panel! brook boards are awesome! 🥰
thank you so much for doing this, i was interested in this combo!

Yeah should work. Just make sure to link power and ground between both boards. Power draw may be an issue though when connecting to consoles, etc.
@@jonyfraze Alright thanks! So pretty much my last step is to install the 4pin cable between both boards.

Do you need to remove the USB link cable if you’re using a switch to switch between boards?
Power and ground must always be connected to each board so you still need it
nice Astro city mockup!
I'm definitely interested in this setup. How would you go about making the extended cable?
you have to cut the USB cable, splice the wires on each side and bridge them with extensions wires.
Do you ever build american sticks? With IL/Eurostick and concave happ buttons?
unfortunately i dont get many requests for me to make it worth it. check out layershift soon though he may be making something youll love *wink *wink
jonyfraze yes thank you. I LOVE american sticks

Instead of a UFB can I do this dual Mod with a wireless FB?
Yeah just not sure if the commands work
@@jonyfraze also you said there was a switch that can be added to the retro board to differentiate which board is being used. What switch is that?
@@kmart014 it’s just a dpdt switch you need to patch split the usb signals to the switch.

Does turbo mode work with this dual setup on old consoles?
Only if turbo bridges between the 2 boards.

Yes

Do u have pinout for making a gamecube cable ?
Sami reach out to brook directly for the schematics. I have it however I’m not at the liberty to share their internal documents.
What would be the best way to hook up the manual switch to switch between the 2 boards?

Yes
I have a question for Jonyfraze. on the Retro Board you are reviewing there is a long blue part on it. Could I connect a cartridge harness to that spot? It does look like that I could. What do you think.
No sorry it’s only a screw terminal for loose wires
Im thinking about picking one up soon. Would you suggest I dual mod my Hori VLX or modding my Madcatz or Obsidian?
I would pick the one you want to play on retro. I say the VLX though
jonyfraze thanks for the advice. I brought my Saturn back to life and olan on bringing my Dreamcast back to life. So many good fighters on there.

Don’t think that will work
Or I think I should just use a usb kvm switch and then do the brooks ps4 to dc converter
hi jonyfraze, love the vid! regarding the ps4 compatability its not stated on the item description for any of the sellers. Does it work fine?
thanks dean
The retro board does not work on PS4 you need to dual mod with either a UFB or PS4+ board
also, if I'm running happ parts, can I just use the screw down terminals on one side? or do I have to use that center 20 pin to wire up my stick?
Screw terminals will definitely work
jonyfraze which screw terminals would I need to use? The retro or the UFB? Someone told me that I need to bridge the screw terminals together with an cable, and use the 20 pin multiplier for the new I puts for simultaneous work
samgao so buttons/inputs plug into the retro board screw terminals. Then 20 pin multiplier goes to the UFB to link the boards inputs.
jonyfraze since I’m not using usb, but a DC output, I wouldn’t need to link the usb together right?
Yes the UFB needs to be bridged to the retro board via usb. You can still use the rj45 jack to access the UFB via the command I showed on the video.
I'm confused on one item.

It shows up on PC as a DirectInput Controller (not XInput)
Very upset they did no include LS/RS like on the PS4+ Audio. There are so many titles on original xbox you cannot play.
Great video but your music was so dang loud. I could barely hear you over it (at least on mobile).
