    The fencing gear is actually rather elegant as far as fencing gear goes. Apparently it was custom made by a London gearmaker for the movie. My fencing jacket has a button closure with a red/white split, I'm actually quite fond of it.

      In college, I fenced using the schools gear and jacket. Since I was on the varsity team, I got to take the jacket home with me for convenience. Another gender commented on how well fitted was my jacket. Our coach let him know that I took in the sides and back. Those fencing uniforms had to have been custom or at least altered for them to fit so well.

      I have some cases of that in my fencing club and I would agree.
      Personally, I went with a kaftan in a mainly maroon colour with a deep blue at the edges and the same blue colour for the leggings.
      I consider swapping out the blue leggings for some maroon coloured ones or perhaps a split as you mention.

      I joined by accident. I actually joined the fencing club. We had some competitions. At the end of the year, I was given a jacket. I said, "Thank you, what is this for?" I was told it is a varsity jacket for being in the varsity team. That was when I found out I was on the varsity team. LOL

    My Top 5
    1. Tux, all the Bond's do the Tux justice, but my favourite is the White dinner jacket worn by Connery.
    2. Skyfall Scotland attire, especially the Barbour Wax Jacket, Scarf and Crockett & Jones boots
    3. GoldenEye, The casual attire while racing the Ferrari in his DB5, Chinos, Blue N.Peal cablenit jumper, Blue Turnbull&Asser shirt with the Cravat just about peeking through.
    4. Skyfall, Shanghai attire, the PeaCoat in particular, but I'd easily wear the entire outfit.
    5. GoldFinger, Golf attire, The Dark Red Slazenger V-Neck Jumper with off white shirt, Brown Golf Kilties shoes don't think the hat would suit me though, suites Sean Connery well and thats what counts.

    In the first movie Dr. No, Sean Connery briefly wears this one classic yet beautiful outfit. It's quite simply a navy sport coat, white shirt and navy tie, with charcoal pants and black shoes. He's in Jamaica but the outfit actually looks like wool, and he just wears it so well, of course.

    Now that I see them all together, I realize how lanky and awkward Brosnan was; tall and good looking, but weirdly unathletic. Craig muscular physicality kind of ruined it for everyone else. Moore was so handsome, even if too old for the part, and Connery was just perfect.

    Y'know, I heard something very interesting last night while reading about Bond style. It seems that Cary Grant was under consideration by Ian Fleming to play the role of James Bond, since he didn't approve of Sean Connery at first. I wonder how that would've gone over...

    • @EK_Beast
      @EK_Beast Год назад +1

      Just watch North by North West, and a few of the other Cary Grant films. I feel like they actually heavily express what Bond would have been like with him. I thinks he would have been okay, nothing like Connery and perhaps a bit too subtle and American. But he’d do some okay action and have some amazing line deliveries in his own way.

    This was BY FAR the best Kyle video on the channel. No mention of urban streetwear, no trying to convince others that jeans, T-Shirts, and sneakers are "classic" menswear. Just good honest information about the classic menswear styles of one of the screens top iconic characters. Well done Kyle. (And Sean Connery is my favorite Bond).

    • @themoderndandy713
      @themoderndandy713 2 года назад

      I think trainers and tees and jeans hold a place in classic menswear, it's just that they're traditionally regulated to the most informal of occasions. Trainers are worn for tennis or other sports, tees are worn to the beach or around the house, and jeans are worn for manual labor or other very casual events. All of these garments were around by the 30's.
      Technicalities aside, I generally don't watch Kyle's videos for that reason. There's also the fact he tends to wear not-quite-fitting suits which are too tight and slim-lapeled. I like the diverse perspective from Raphael and Preston, both being traditionalists, but his advice and styling definitely isn't for me.
