- Baker's Gas is here with an update on the latest Lincoln Electric Ranger 330 MPX with EFI. Do you need the EFI version? Is the Ranger 330 with EFI worth the extra cost? Andrew does a quick overview and answers the most popular questions.
MORE POWERFUL
With 100% duty cycle at 330 amps this Ranger can take on any job! This unit is the new EFI unit built for all seasons. The biggest advantages to EFI are:
Excels in high altitude applications
Quick and easy starts in cold weather with no choke required
Constant operation and improved fuel efficiency
SMALLER
20% smaller footprint and 25% lighter than other machines in its class. Front panels open and close for protection for receptacles and welding leads.
SMARTER
The Ranger 330MPX offers a suite of new technology that improves weld performance and productivity. New digital user interface makes it easy to see changes and settings. ArcFX provides instant graphical feedback is provided on how your setting will affect the outcome of the weld. Chopper Technology provides easy starts, smooth and consistent arc and low spatter. CrossLinc allows remote communication through one weld cable. Plus lock out the machine with a passcode to avoid tampering with your machine.

That's a very nice looking machine. I like the smaller footprint than my trailblazer 302. Plus the multiple options for other processes.
My company got about a dozen of these when they first came out, as the maintenance guy I’d trade them for Miller 302s or ranger 305s in a heartbeat. All the bells and whistles look fancy, and they do help you get your settings right, but they have reliability issues and all the parts are stupidly expensive once the warranty stops covering them
Very nice looking machine. 👍🏽 I have a Forney 220 welder for the small projects I do from time to time. Was looking at this to run my Forney in the field for the occasional side job that I don’t have access to clean power.
It is a sweet unit! Let us know when you are ready!
Iv always ran the 325 trailblazer with excel power. I would love to try this out but I have two questions. 1) does it idle down while welding. 2) can you run power tools at idle? Those are the two things I’d like to know before purchasing
i changed the oil and air filter, how to i reset the hours, it says its overdue after the change
Can you do a weld review on it? All processes?
Guess mine was built on friday
I’m looking to buy my first welder, it’s between the 330 ranger and the sa200 which one would you recommend
Are there spark plugs?
Did he say there was mig welding
Would you recommend the 330mpxEFI or the miller trailblazer 325EFI? Mainly doing pipe welding
Hey Justin, really depends on your brand preference. The Lincoln is smaller and the technology beats the Miller right at this moment. Let us know when your ready we do have these in stock!
Could this replace say like a Lincoln electric sa 200 for the pipe lines or no and why not?
Nope. It’s not as cool looking and doesn’t sound nearly as good. Plus too many electronics. Them sa200’s got like a cult following. Ain’t nothing gonna take them away from pipelines. But if your asking if you yourself can use on the pipeline than yes. Some people have them out there. Most of the guys that do run them are not really the type to post a lot online though.
Would it hold up on pipeline? Do they make a remote for it?
Good question, the air cooled motor will not run all day especially in the heat. It would be great for welding / fab where you weld a bit fit a bit. Continuous 10 hours a day would tucker' it out by 3000 hrs. Like Baker gas said " light weight perfect for smaller trucks. I would like one in the back of my truck. I have the old Lincoln " three phase " using it's little 20 hp Kohler air cooled motor. Most of my welding is in the cooler weather of the San Francisco bay area so that has helped its engine life. As air cooled motors run hot frequent oil / filter changes are necessary. First oil / filter change at 5 hours per kohlers owners manual. Gets the smoo out from manufacture. Good review...
Where is the spark plugs
Wonder if the main board is going to go out within the first yr on these new models like the old ranger models?
These have been out for a while and we have not experienced that issue/feedback from any of our customers or in our service center.
@@BakersGas that's good to hear. I'm not a brand guy. Blue, red, yellow... Doesn't matter. Reliability and performance is it for me. Thanks for your feedback.
I've had 2 305G and not one lick of trouble with either, one even has over 8000 hours on it and still been used daily
Do you know anything of the brushes in this machine? Manual says 1k hours change rotor brushes, gives lincoln part number. Impossible to find this part. What gives?
Its not designed to make it past a thousand hours. You have to buy a new one.
@AddyEspresso well it's been a while since I posted that, and can confirm brushes can be replaced, worst thing about those machines was the main motherboard replaced 2 on 3 units around the 1k hr mark
@@eviloracle That is just unacceptable. The motherboard is called that because it contains almost all the electronics in the machine. Replacing it twice is just too costly. I stand by what I said.
@AddyEspresso both were under warranty luckily.
@@eviloracle I don't care about warranty. If I like the machine I will pay for parts. If I can't do that its worthless to me.
Maybe it's the sound of the video but that didn't sound to healthy running.
Ehh could be the muffled noise of the speaker its hard to do a demo and talk at the same time
You know instead of screaming at the camera you can put the machine on idle instead of MAX rpm…
lol please explain to us what a dB is?
