Battlefield 2042 has changed a lot over the 2 years it has been out, and since its release in 2021, Battlefield 2042 has managed to have one of the worst launched in triple A video game history, to a redemption arc where it is now actually a pretty solid game. The complete story of Battlefield 2042 2 years later is a crazy one. This will cover its history from BF2042 launch to where we are past Season 6. The most in depth Battlefield 2042 review and retrospective analysis. Is Battlefield 2042 fixed now? And is Bf2042 worth playing in 2023? - Игры
Im sad you didnt experience battlefield 1, for me its peak World war gaming let alone multiplayer gaming for me. Experiencing something like that was truly revolutionary for me at that time
My all time favorite multiplayer. Just the setting and grit the environment had was amazing.
They absolutely NAILED the tone in BF1. How gritty and morally vague some conflicts can be. They showed that war isn't "fun", it's maddening, scary, and horrible in almost every way. I miss the tone of BF1 the most. And the maps.
BF1 is The best BF game in my opinion. Never seen a WW1 game like that before
From the tone of the game and from a technical standpoint, BF1 is by far the best BF they've ever produced. I still think it's funny that it looks better than this game 😅
I got into it a couple months before the last dlc the apocalypse dlc, great game soo good!!!
Trend chasing is what made 2042 a disaster in BF franchise. For the next BF, I just want Battlefield to be Battlefield again.
@@bots4fun1 feels like EA forced dice to chase BR trends to earn more money. That’s why many old devs departed also.
@@PrasathMGM Well that's not just your feeling, it's fact. EA saw how much cash was flowing into their pockets with Apex Legends and attemped that model with Battlefield.
@ True
They said the next battlefield is gonna be "a re imagination" of the series, and that makes me more concerned than excited.
@@mohamednail1707 same here. Vince zampella is great in making cod or Titianfall like games. But for Battlefield, I can’t trust him. BF needs its old devs to be good as BF3 or 1. Imo, they don’t need to reimagine anything at all. A true BF fan knows what BF needs to be. I just want dice new devs to play BF3,4 or 1 often to understand what BF really is.
battlefield 1 was magical when it came out. there were some balance issues but i think i could ask anyone and they could pull out multiple memorable moments they’ve had while playing. it’s a game that sticks with you. sucks that we’ve regressed so far from experiences like that
I hated BF1, it's really unfun.
@@kieransol ur an anomaly, that acts like u a 'bf fan'
One of my first times playing I decided to play on a custom server for it with no hud and accurate weapons on St. Quentin scar
I was screaming charge at the same time my character was as we all charged, hearing explosions, emplaced mgs, being pinned down, hearing team mates going down. So feckin immersive.
I also detest BF1, feels the most unlike a BF game compared to its predecessors. It is by far the most Arcade-y. It was sloppy execution, and Launch version BFV was way better. Then they fucked BFV literally with the first damage rework. Smh.
@@longwingdetrain3183 bf1 is the most "you are the cutscene" battlefield which makes it very much battlefield.
Rule #1 Never buy a new Battlefield title at launch and wait 2+ years for DICE to finish it.
so is it fine to buy now?
Noooo it is still not as good as bf4@@silentwraith19_26
@@silentwraith19_26 No, I bought it two years after its release. I have played every other Battlefield since BF2, and 2042 is still a buggy, laggy, and slow mess. So many hits and shots do not connect, like hitting a helicopter twice with a tank and nothing happens, probably due to the game servers running at 12Hz, whereas BF4 servers excelled with up to 120Hz. The game has no balance, and most new weapons are far superior to standard weapons. Vehicles feel like you are driving in deep mud, and they get stuck at every possible object.
@@Der-Sensenmann 0 truth, only bullshit
@@silentwraith19_26it is fine
8:50 - 9:00 Its actually the exact opposite. No specialist had any specific role or "path" on the Battlefield. Instead of having classes with weapons and gadgets unique to them, we now had a total mish mash of medics using rocket launchers, sniper camping with unlimited ammo using an ammo box, engineers using medic crates etc etc. It totally destroyed the balance imposed by class restrictions in other games. Something that class re-work brought back to an extent.
You can still camp as a sniper with infinite ammo, which was honestly the most annoying combo
@@Courtesyflush52that’s true but the trade off is you don’t get all the useful recon equipment and lose the sniping buffs. So it kinda balances itself out I would think.
My friend is new to battlefield and just wants to snipe while holding RPGs just in case he sees a vehicle. He doesn't understand that each class has roles.
True, but also this versatility feels kinda refreshing after praying to Shiva for your team to have enough assault and engineers. Now you have gigachad assault engineers. Actually sends back a little to bf 2
What killed 2042 in it's launch was never the bugs, BF4 at launch was on par if not more bugged than 2042 with basic stuff like hit registration and server stalibity being an issue for lieteral years and even to this day that game doesn't have a good hit registration but what that game had that 2042 didn't have was a clear direction, a good gameplay loop and a constant stream of content, good content. 2042 today has barely more content than BF4 had at launch let a lone after the game was complete with over 30 multiplayer maps, literal hundreds of weapons and gadgets, a dozen game modes and a singleplayer campaign.
As a Battllefield franchise veteran that has played for 15 years now I think I say for the majority of Battlefield players that we are used to bugs and realeases with less polish than the iron you find in WW1 trenches but one thing we can't deal with is a game that launches with less content than Tennis for Two and the content that it does have is garbage on top of the usual messy launch.
Yes, im absolutely with u, but there is another thing... I absolutely hate that operator bullshit system it doesn't fit in Bf at all. it's horrible
@@cloudcobain That's one of the causes of the bad gameplay loop and content I mentioned.
You may forget that BF4 was also hated for a good long while and now is the game all the "modern combat" nerds want to return to.
@@McShag420 Just as every current COD is always the worst in the franchise, but people stuck with BF4 for it's entire life cicle.
@@McShag420 it was just the last great battlefield game. I honestly think their next move should be to remaster bad company 2, leave everything the same other than graphics and 64 player servers instead of 24. If they do that they will compete with call of duty again
The massive resurgence is awesome to see for a game but at the same time I hope it doesn't give the idea we want future games to have this direction.
2042 just really misses the whole Battlefield immersion factor that we used to have in games like BF3, BF4 and BF1.

Bf3 had me hooked. I had to come back to play 2042. I feel like it’s better now. But still no hardcore mode smh
Bad Company 2 was so much fun I really enjoyed it and the Vietnam DLC. BF3 and BF4 were also good.
Loved the music on that Vietnam DLC too.
Maybe I’m just a older fan of the series but bf3 and bf4 will always be the greatest titles in my own opinion. I had the most fun with those titles. Made way more memories on them too.
Real, battlefield 2042 is still the worst battlefield in my opinion. I would love a remastered BF3 and BF4.
To me Battlefield 4 is probably the best
Yeah those were definitely dice’s best titles imo. And i own probably like 6 or 7 of their latest releases lol. I preordered 2042 ultimate edition and played the beta and launch and it wasn’t any better than the beta full of bugs and no tdm so i like so many others abandoned it and signed the petition for a refund (appears the petition count was reset btw pfft) anyways revisited bf2042 the other day and it’s actually playable now thank God i can start getting some of my monies worth out of it hopefully as long as the player count stays steady enough to keep getting full lobbies.
The fact it's reaching launch quality at the end of its support cycle is tragic. I still want my money back
Yeah, I bought it two years after its release because I played the beta (which was a disaster) for like $5 and was still disappointed.
It's not near it's life cycle. It's been good for a year now.
@@Davidcharrod it's never been good and never will be, I think "playable" is a better word for your sentence
I subscribed after watching hours of your content. Just to be informed in one of your videos about your views to subscribers ratio 💀 love this quality of COD history. Been on an information binge. In other words I wake up to you and fall asleep to you 😂
I honestly believe that hazard zone could be a third main game mode much like breakthrough and conquest. Still two teams, just that the objectives fall and land out of the sky on the map. Think KOTH but on multiple hills and that hill changes throughout the match
I played BF 2042 for the first time about 6 months ago (didn’t know anything about the disastrous launch) and I think it’s a pretty dope game. It’s fun as hell to ride around in the vehicles with your squad and mess people up.
You didnt focus on these elements enough or at all: lack of server browser, lack of squad management, hit registration issues, squad size relative to overall team size (an individual squad had less influence on the game meaning you felt like you had less purpose), maps were so big that you were running for 30 minutes just to get somewhere. So much more. The whole game was fried from day one.
I remember being so excited for 2042 because bf4 was my first battlefield and one of my favorite games of all time. I pre ordered the 100$ edition on BOTH my ps5 and my pc so I had the game on my main pc, and had it on my ps5 for laid back couch gaming because I switch between the two regularly depending on what’s going on at home. I pre ordered the gold edition so I could play “10 days early” . I couldn’t even play the game AT ALL when it first launched for the first 24-72 hours. The servers absolutely refused to let anybody matchmake and would prompt non stop errors every attempt
To think if this game had waited another year or so with what it has now. It might have been way bigger than we thought. At the same time it still baffles me that for me at least, this franchises best and most fun game takes place in a time period that a lot of people would've considered to be the most boring. I love Battlefield 1 way too much... I thought this game was going to far exceed it.😅
Yup. They killed Battlefield V and Star Wars Battlefront II, two games which had also struggled with their launches but were finally getting somewhere after years of hard work, just to make a game which also wasn't ready to launch and should've had more time on it anyway.
It's a never ending cycle. I 100% guarantee they will end support for Battlefield 2042 right as it's finally getting to it's peak, just to make another sub-par game. It's what DICE do now.
@@Perseus7567 I actually don't think BF5 is that bad. I played it for the first time the other year during covid and honestly it's fun. Think the game got too much backlash although they continued microtransactions in that game which is unacceptable. Battlefont 2 is also fun but the microtransactions didn't help there either. If all these games just didn't have microtransactions they'd be better.
if the game had proximity voice chat 9it would be best game on the market
its a bit like your first love, the old games just have somethimg, because they were original, content and language, technology, AI simply dresses it up, OTT
Also you forgot to mention that beloved QoL features were labelled as 'legacy' and didn't return. Plus it took them 4-5 months to implement a scoreboard in their multiplayer fps game.
I waited for a year for it to become free on PS+ and honestly it was kinda smooth but I stopped playing after a week, fell into the trap of mw2022 and after 2 months I got bored and burnt out of any fps game, I downloaded BF2042 again 2 weeks ago and it honestly felt refreshing and addicting, as a casual battlefield fan I wished they took their time on it I would’ve played this a lot more than the newer CoD games
thank you I have searched for 10 min, for someone to say what you have(I replayed) and it seems better
10:08 I wouldn't say it was just a design choice but destruction being less common or prominent in 2042 is mostly due to technical limitations with 128 and last gen consoles, as they have to work with entity limits and so they spread their bases too thin and so it became less common to see it besides Portal Maps.
What people also forget is destruction has a hidden downside of map design degradation as seen in BC2 where you can flatten a map as the match goes on and vehicles and snipers would dominate. Even Levolutions made maps worse to play as seen in BF4's Siege of Shanghai where once the tower collapse the map played worse, and other maps like Lancam Dam had a lackluster Levolutions.
Actually, 128 players affected server latency, directly impacting on crutial points like Hit Detection... not to mention map desing/flow... In perspective, duplicate the total amount of players was an error.
I played this game heavily from launch up until about April of this year. I just got burned out of it, but I will admit it has its fun moments. The biggest issue for me is the content. I've played all the maps dozens and dozens of times each and there hasn't been enough content added to keep me engaged. I will admit that it has been made much better over time, but it still lacks that BF feeling that I used to get when playing BF4. I picked the game back up for the Redacted map to see how it is, and it's okay, but not enough to really get me back into the game like I used to be. Hopefully the next game is good and comes out swinging rather than struggling like 2042 did.

One of the many problems I have with DICE is they release new modes and expect them to be hits out the door and if they arent they will abandon them FAST. Look at Firestorm...solid BR mode that was actually liked but got no support or updates. Hazard Zone...interesting but needed work. It got no meaningful updates or changes...it got dumped. Then we have Portal...assume mode but has yet to get ONE single old map added to it.
Dice always dose that with new mods. They hyped them up, released them unfinished, and then abandoned them.
@@mohamednail1707 it's like they don't see what Activision does and works. They release new modes and actually try and improve them.. such as warzone or DMZ.
@@jcaashby3 probably because they release them as a separate free to play game because their first BR attempt was with the blackout in black ops 4, and it failed miserably because nobody liked black ops 4
@@mohamednail1707 They should have really done that with Portal, cuz no one in their right mind would ever pay for Portal. Also contributes to the lack of players and support, the thing isn't free, less new players = less support.
While CoD MWII DMZ has problems, the fact that it's free guarantees that it will always have new players and will continue to get supported. That's not even bringing microtransaction into the equation, DMZ will live on for years to come while eveyone will just abandon Portal eventually.
The most comprehensive review I could ever imagine 🎉
I started playing this like two weeks ago thinking, hey I’ll give it a shot and see what it’s like. It’s okay and fun at times, but like you said, I’m mad that star wars bf2 and battlefield v had to die for this game to come out.
As someone who has been playing battlefield since the very beginning, I really want a cold war battlefield game. Something with more modern weapons such as main battle tanks, assault rifles and jets like BF3 and 4 but without all the lock on systems and weapon attachments like BF1. Throw in bad company 2 levels of destruction and DICE will have themselves a winning product.
Halo infinite, BF2042, Cyberpunk 2077, No Man's Sky etc....
When the hell will publishers learn to just DELAY THE DAMN GAME and release them WHEN THEY ARE ACTUALLY READY. I am so unbelievably sick and tired of the whole "fix it later" mentality. This game needed more delays. We cannot let devs and publishers keep doing this shit to us man.
Battlefield 2042 did get delayed it was poor development delaying a game doesn’t mean it would be good
@@bots4fun1the thing about it is no other game will be able to pull what no man’s sky did because no man sky worked their asses off to get to here today no other company is brave enough to even do that most devs would kill their games in a state like that by stopping support altogether or updating but not actually fixing anything
I unstalled it yesterday and installed BF1 and BF 4 again
Bf1 has taken years from my life I was still playing multiplayer well into 2023
Definitely need more destructible environments, if they could just keep making bf games with bf4 core fundamentals I'd never stop playing
Delays aren't an inherently bad thing, so I think the stigma around them shouldn't be as strong as it is. Sure it *can* be a sign that things aren't going well behind the scenes, but on the other hand a delay can be the difference between a bad launch and a good one. The more we complain about them the more publishers will be inclined to go with the *release it now, finish it later* approach that's been plaguing the gaming industry over the past decade. And another thing is if delays are more normalized, that could potentially reduce how much devs have to crunch. Just some food for thought.
Agreed. Delays are not a bad thing per say. The issue with 2042 wasn't the delay by itself but the fact thant they annouced it only 2 months before the original launch date and after anouncing the game development was faster than expected a few months prior.
Delays per se aren't bad but when E fucking A delays something it's as bad as it could get and should be the biggest red flag ever seen on planet Earth
I came into battlefield 2042 with ps plus essential back when they put it on there. I'm glad I did, too, because the game is so fun to play. Weather effects are cool, gunplay is smooth, and the ability to level up when playing with bots helps a lot as i just want to play by myself with the bots and not get smoked too early like i do in regular matches.
I hope eventually they put in the fn 57 pistol and some nightmaps. Even with the new season 7 trailer, I've not seen any nightmaps, but those could work very well for this game. Can't wait for what we are getting in season 7 tho, as those new guns look really fun to use.
The one thing I don't understand is that how does DICE, creators of the frostbite engine, fall behind on it. They literally get to choose when they update it or not
That's like if Infinity Ward said that they fell behind on the new COD engine for MW2
Battlefield 2042 is alot of fun now 👍🏻
Only if you have no standards.
Extra context:
1. S6 f2p weekends were not even close to being the first free weekends for 2042. There were similar sales and free trials during S3, S4 and S5. The highest player numbers ever gotten during that was 36k. S6 launch crushed not only this number, but it also was bigger than ALL other free weekends combined. And AFTER free weekends ended the game beat its all-time peak and was for 2 weeks in steam's top-10 global sales charts, even once staying at top-2 above the likes of CoD. I guess 2042 never cost less than 10$, but you can't claim that free weekend saved 2042
2. S6 was never directly confirmed to be the last. Quiet a lot of pieces of info point to S7 and S8 being real and already in development. I wouldn't disregard 2042 as a game that is ending its live-service any time soon
I actually really really liked bf 2042 because the shootibg felt smooth and certain modes like 120 player rush felt like actual battles. The matches were massive.
I’m so addicted to 2042 right now. It’s so damn fun for me. Can the devs PLEASE just build off of this for the next game and not try to fix things that aren’t broken.

In addition to the great points you made on the narrative elements, one unfortunate factor we also should consider was the sudden passing of Irish's voice actor shortly after the release of the Exodus cinematic. This of course was far beyond DICEs control. The Exodus cinematic set up Irish as the main character of whatever potential narrative they planned and since they were chasing trends at the time, they probably would have tried to copy COD and released a new cinematic for each season. That of course all went up in smoke. At that time, the other specialist had not been introduced yet and so there was no suitable in universe character that could have replaced him. The only other acceptable character would have technically been Pac imo but he was already killed on screen.
It’s honestly gone through a redemption arch like you said. If you never picked this up I highly recommend you try this game, as a former cod player, I feel like I’m not punished for running around, the DLC guns you can actually earn and not just buy a bundle, the maps are improved and the class system is better than ever, the portal mode is actually fun with multiple types of different game modes and you can even earn XP points in them as well. BF games don't die this hard when certain changes detract from the vibe of Battlefield. 2042 died on release SPECIFICALLY because of how dysfunctional it was.
- It consistently had Tarkov-level desync. Now it just sometimes has Tarkov desync.
- It was missing baseline features that allowed you to coordinate in-game. It took months to work in a scoreboard, and over a year to bring in squad features.
- Focusing on 128 players when Dice devs CONFIRMED it wasn't conducive back in 2011.
- The maps were the worst in the entire series. Some of the remakes turned out even worse.
- Movement is delayed and clunky. None of it flowed at all. Never fixed.
- The game had fucked up mouse/controller input for its ENTIRE lifecycle. Patched multiple times but never fully fixed.
Now it's only kinda bad instead of being the absolute worst. yay
This is also the game that took 2 years to add fricking Medical and Ammo pouches, in LIMITED amounts (I think) in the BATTLE PASS (yes, in free tiers, but still).
When both BF1 AND BFV had both on launch, where you could keep using them infinitely. Hell, in BFV, it was impossible to not have some sort of ammo or medical resupply pouch/box on said classes.
I still think this game never should've existed, because we lost both BFV (just as it was going in a great direction with the Pacific stuff) and Battlefront 2 (easily the biggest turn around in gaming history....besides maybe No Man's Sky) to a game that's still adding basic features from previous titles years later.
I've been waiting all this time to play. Over the years whenever I tried to play it was always empty lobbies unplayable
The thing I absolutely HATE about this game is the specialists or whatever they're called and the fact they are not faction-related

Im getting pretty sick and tired of games having "comebacks." Its a horrible trend and it only hurts what the core principle of gaming is. Having fun.
Would you prefer games that have bad launches be abandoned entirely?
Broken game launches suck, But if a game has potential, Id much rather see that potential achieved, than have them pack up all dev work on the title and start working on the next game in the series 🤷♂️
Yeah but we also have to question when is the “comeback” for some is when the bugs are fix and for others is when certain content releases and most of the time is when the gaming community starts to play it again.
Let’s look at battlefront 2
It was horrible at launch not because what the game had to offer but because the loot boxes and progression being tied to it. The first update of the game 4-6 months later fixed it and from then on I would consider it fixed but the greater public didn’t think so till the celebration edition
What I usually do with dumpster fire launches like 2042's is wait a year or so, have the game get better, and buy it at a heavily discounted rate. I bought 2042 a little over a year ago for $15, and honestly for that price it was totally worth it.
@@dankmctwist6575We would rather games worked at launch. F**k a comeback. The time spent bringing a game back to life could've went to vastly improving an already good game. The destruction really was a big deal to me for earlier battlefield titles, not to mention the classes.
They really should just 100% get rid of operators. And add destruction back.
I also hate the attachment switching, makes zero sense, and makes people have a weapon for all ranges just by changing attachments. I actually like the switching of weapons and attachments after death way more. Made you more wise to what you use in game.
Actually they should just make another battlefield title that is just modern day, no future gadgets. Skip all the trend chasing and get back to basics of Battlefield 3 and 4.

While it is fun now the soul of 2042 still doesnt feel like classic battlefield. The older battlefields would be so fun that even after thousands of hours on each title i would still have a blast in them. Meanwhile after a few hundred hours of 2042 it just feels meh. I definitely recommend it if you haven't played it in a while but if you continue to play it for roughly 200-300 hours you'll just start to get bored which is a disappointment but its still 100x better than it was at launch.
I played BF4 for awhile and still do from time to time. Myself and a friend played the beta of 2042, and within 5 minutes we both came to the conclusion that 2042 was basically turned into Call of Duty. The style of gameplay, the movement, the graphics, the maps, etc. It was literally COD. We played for a few more minutes then we both deleted the app for the beta and never looked back. We play COD but that is because it is COD and we know what to expect from it. Honestly, they should have kept BF with it's original feel. There is a reason we still play BF4. It is not like any other game. It has a specific feel that we like, as well as the way the game had objectives and teamwork. I don't have any interest in going back to 2042 even if they made improvements and even if it is available at a lower price now. If I feel like playing Battlefield, I will stick with BF4 until it finally dies. For now, my favorite servers are still active.
i still play bf4 too the best bf in history
I picked up battlefield 1, 5 and 2042 this Christmas when they were on sale and honestly battlefield 2042 is one of the most fun shooters I have played
First FPS I had played since the original Halo. I was divorced in 2022 when I bought an XBox for my kiddos for Christmas and subscribed to GamePass. BF 2042 became an outlet for me to decompress. I knew there were issues and I’ve seen the significant changes. For the most part, it’s a ton of fun for me. I switch up roles depending on how I can help my team. I think it would be a cool one to actually have play with people I know. I do wish it had a campaign mode. The stories are only teased. Maybe they can backup a few years and let the campaign mode tell the story that got us to BF 2042.
"It has no singleplayer that Battlefield has always done in the past."
Well ackshually...
As an old Battlefield player the first four or 5 games had no singleplayer. It started as multiplayer only title (which at the time was kind of new). The first campaign was Bad Company I believe. So for me when I heard that I had no problems with it.
Also as a long time Battlefield fan I have switched to Battlebit Remastered and it recaptures that Battlefield experience.
Though 2042 made many, monumentally stupid ideas, I still feel a deep pity for the dev team. I can't imagine how soul crushing, stressed and burnt out they were just trying to salvage what they could with it.
And it was probably exponentially worse when they released the game and started seeing the review bombs. I'm happy to see that they largely turned the game around.
The big But in the matter is that DICE cannot let this happen again. The franchise should be canned if they drop another dud like this. They have MASSIVE expectations for the next game and it's make or break, baby. Just go back to what makes Battlefield "Battlefield" and fuck the trends.
1998 Honda Accord is a classic of the working man.
Is it worth buying for Portal mode now?
I’m glad more and more people is acknowledging the recent come back and Interest in the game. Us bf contnet creators were struggling for the last 2 years lmao.
Really sad that the term DICE and Comeback have been the norm for their recent games
I've actually gone back to it within the past week cause I've pretty much sworn off call of duty at this point. I've been having a ton of fun, very happy to see where the game is right now
DICE are the makers of the Frosbite engine and they are the studio which update and maintains this engine.
No way issues are caused cuz they had to use the latest version of the engine.
we were really in the trenches in 2021 bro holy fuck I get the shakes whenever I remember the game's first released times.
I'll say this too. I love Portal, but all your points on it is TOTALLY valid. I'd live to see more content in portal tho. I would LOVE to see Portal again, maybe as it's own game? I'd just love to see more and more and more games added to that thing. Imagine mixing stuff from BF1, BF5 (Lots of stuff from BF5 is actually 1942), BF Hardline, BF BC 1 and 2, BF 2,3 and 4, BF2142 AND EVEN maaaaaybe a few cosmetics or actually fun stuff from Battlefield Heroes??? :) Come on. you do hear the manu songs already
COVID was absolutely ONE of the reasons the game came out like it did. People need to stop denying that. COVID disrupted the whole world.
The game had no direction and no identity!
Um, IW made Modern Warfare II - the biggest CoD in term of scale - within the Covid time-frame and it came out just fine. What did you think they was doing from 2020 to 2022?
Stop giving DICE and EA more excuses and let them face the wraith of their own doings, they totally effed this up from the get-go, Covid made it worse but it wasn't the main cause.
Lotta the early description reeks of what happened at bioware during anthem’s development, where there was a mass exodus of devs during development due to creative differences
15:36 Don’t forget the fact that it launched without tdm. I for one was pissed as hell i dropped ~$90 on a bf title and it didn’t even have something so basic as tdm. Glad they came to their senses and brought it back.
They tried to compete with cod by doing exactly what cod does and that's a no win situation. It has operators and is a bad imitation of MW2019 groundwar. I loved BF because you can play a role and if everyone did that it was fun where now the role is just get the most kills. I love destruction and that's why I played the old titles to blow $hit up. We get enough arcade style fps from cod just go back to doing what BF does best.
It is pretty fun to play 2042 now, and it's on sale for dirt cheap most of the time. However, I'd advise anyone who is thinking of buying the next Battlefield game to hold their money until a couple years pass before purchasing. You'd do well not to preorder any new game that comes out, really... Great video though, thanks for sharing!
My PC is now so old - 12 years - it couldn't run it on minimum settings, and I won't be building a new one till maybe next year.
I agree that it broke down the team aspect of it because of all the different specialist you can choose and stuff
If you look into the layout of the vanilla maps + 128 player count, you can see how they originally envision this to be a Battle Royal, but the map can be played as a classic battlefield match at the same time.
Now with them releasing the newer seasonal maps, they released it on a traditional Battlefield fashion. And the latest locker/metro like map (Redacted) shows how Battlefield 2042 should have been if they didn't developed it as BR game in the beginning.
Thing is this redemption arc put BF 2042 as this good case scenario when really the game is just ok/good now. Bare essentials like bringing back the classes (ish), fixing performance/mouse input, having a variety of maps including the long awaited infantry only map have all been addressed either semi-recently or very recently.
Meanwhile this stuff was done at launch for the likes of BF3, BF1 and BFV with better maps both gameplay wise and destruction wise (which is still nowhere near the levels of BF1/BFV given the bar of destruction).
Also let's not forget BF Portal is now long gone into the forgotten realm because they forgot to make a competent Battlefield in the first place and had shifted all their efforts.
At best its a B-tier Battlefield, but the lesser stellar maps makes it C-tier. I implore you to go back to the BFBC2-BFV for a taste of something better that has some really well aged aspects that a 2021-2023 game forgets to do.
Even today i don't know what to do in this game. There is nothing to do, no goals, nothing exited to unlock, no cool rare skins, nothing. Not even a server browser to play my favorites maps. And the menu still so bad designed, navigating trough the menu is so hard. Also, they show you a list of agents skins, and i cant even tell for which agents there are for. And after every round i need to restart the game, because there is the same bug since release with the blackscreen. This first problem i had this week after coming back was, that my mouse wont move, i had to modify the config files. There are still typos in the menu i reported a year a go.
I played for less than a month and I will definitely come back to battlefield if they can recapture the feeling of playing 3, 4 and 1 but idk if that’s a possibility anymore with the mass exodus of developers
It׳s not much better it’s just that the bar of expectations from them is much lower.
2042 is a blast. But I really do hope Dice has Learn a hard lesson. But there is new managment now and I think they will be going back to basics next time. I hope we get more support for at least another year. They need to step up map production of they want to keep the player base. It took a year for bf4 to become the game we all know now. But it has tons of content. Content is key
Hardline was my fav back playing it on Xbox 360
That ‘98 Honda Accord is probably still running.
Portal is actually a saving grace for bf2042. It allows us to access modes DICE once offered yet took away a week later. Though with how poorly the Jets are worked air superiority has just failed. Also you would have to think how much money did EA lose by having to put the same amount of money and time into the game to get it to release state and only be able to sell it for 3% of its $140 pre-release cross platform price plus the loss of cosmetic and battle pass sales and any revenue from deal with in game advertising they could have done. Talk about horrible business decisions.
Yeah portal was left to die we have gotten 0 new content since launch no operation metro no daven peak
2042 still feels like a knockoff version of mw2019
That’s why 2042 is a failure. They didn’t created a Battlefield game. They created a bad CODish clone.
MW2019 was the last arcady fps game that really worked amazingly and hit everything on the dot.
Everything since has just been meh at best in comparison....we need something new, fresh, fun, and just as arcadey. Just well polished.
No it dosent 😂where did u even come up with that
Not close to true smoothbrain. Go drive a tank/helicopter in both and you'll realize COD is lacking massively in many regards. Especially at this point.
@@jordanjoestar8839 in vehicle physics, cod needs 10 or 15 more years to be like BF.
It’s still brutal. The hit registration is the worst I’ve ever played in any online game in my entire life. It’s insane a 30 round clip barely kills people sometimes.
Battlefield 1 was amazing. Everything about it. The destruction, the game modes, weapon choices, maps, gunplay, and music. Not to mention the graphics at the time were nuts. Was a masterpiece and a lost art. Really wish more people could’ve experienced it
The game went from bad to aight the gun play was dry and guns are generic tactical modern weapons
Also there aren’t many portal guns in Normal multiplayer can’t have private games in portal bots still use lame copy pasted guns instead of random weapons with random attachments
DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS RUclipsR! LYING! BATTLEFIELD 2042 ISNT FUNCTIONAL IT IS MISSING A LOT OF FEATURES AND MOST IMPORTANTLY MOUSE INPUT STILL DOESNT WORK! AVOID THIS GAME!
I think the unexpected consequence of No Mans Sky recovering after their disastrous launch is now devs think they can push out unfinished, bland, buggy/broken, content deficient games and once they get things sorted out 2 or so years later you have everyone like “See the game is good now” and everyone conveniently forgets about what had to happen to get to that point. Just like with anything in history, failing to acknowledge the past means the same thing will happen in the future
It’s still bad
💀
It’s a lot of fun so no it isn’t bad.
No bad just stale and boring guns are laser beams with no difference between them operators can be seen in groups like clone troops can’t forget the forgettable personalities which is the most memorable thing about them
It's always going to be bad
Maybe you're just bad
yes, we DID notice the tarkov music in the background....
im playing this game since dark days of its disaster release and now its a almost a perfect game but so much to work and now some people still say this game is trash but i have a question for them, what is your suggestion for me in this genre ? THERE IS NO OTHER GAME LIKE BATTLEFIELD AND NEVER WILL BE, I hope DICE learnt its lessons and we never witness another disaster for next battlefields, Thank you for your video
Its still feel like I'm fighting my clones, and I'm unable to get any skin with helmet for some operatives without spending extra money. Rely its not fun to play old lady, die killed by old lady, and another old lady try to pick you IP and Is killed by old lady. And we all lay on the ground 4 old ladies same face same hair, waiting for revive.
I've purchased a cd key today, standard edition for 15€... is good time to begin to play with it ^^
