      I'm ashamed to be white, I was born in 1948 and I was never brought up racist and my heart hurts so bad for all the black and brown people who suffer from any white people who suffer inder the hands of white people.     I have a fourteen year old grandson and this is so horrible to imagine that these people could be so inhumane as to inflict this upon a child! I was four years old when this happened and it was all the talk in my home and neighborhood. It still effects me only more so. It absolutely breaks my heart. I praise GOD for this woman and her courage! You two reat in Paradise as you well deserve!

    It's so inspiring to hear Mamie Till herself open up and tell us what happened. I know it was a long time ago that this was made, but those memories must've stuck with her until she passed. I know now that they have reunited once again in Heaven.

      I was 12 yrs. in 1989 when my mother first showed me that famous photo of Emmet Till in his casket and that image of him frightened and haunts me even today. It made me understand who I was in this world and that could have been me had I been born during this time. Everytime I hear about another black on black here on the Westside of Chicago or on the Southside, I think of Emmet Till and what he endured for nothing at the hands of the whiteman. We are a psychologically fucked up I swear. This little brother was a sacrificial lamb in the most horrific way and we killing each other like it ain't shit. R.I.P Emmett Till. Your death was not in vain.

      The Pythagorean theorem, the Valance of Beryllium, Beowulf, and the Normand Conquest of 1066 were also taught in school. Just because we may not remember them, does not mean they weren't taught.

    This is so sad to me .
    This young boy should not have had to experience something so painful , cold and un - normal . I remember my mother , grandmother talking about this , from the jet magazine .
    My siblings , cousins and neighbor hood children looking at the jet book pictures and we were asking our older relatives what happen to him and why ?
    We were all so sad , my mother did some things to make us happy !

    Thats the only way they used to talk to the family of the blacks back then. Told them to get out of town by sundown but Miss Till stood the test of time in spite of all that racism. She still remembered the whole experience in detail. Imagine having to recall that horrible event each time someone asked you about your son. She had to have amazing strength and sound mind.

    I can't help but be astonished at how she handled everything with such grace and integrity. No mother should have to experience what she did, but she's with her baby boy now. My dad was the same age as Emmit. Bless his heart, what that baby went through makes me shudder.

    The strength, grace, courage, restraint, faith, and determination of Mamie is just absolutely incredible. I can only hope to be be half the woman she was. We've all seen the Jet mag photos, and to think she considered that viewable and what she originally saw was WORSE?! I can't even imagine. With that said, I couldn't help but notice she kept saying " that body" a lot wen referring to Emmett's corpse. I can't help but think that was a defensive coping mechanism.

    The strength and overall professionalism of Ms. Till, after the animalistic brutality of her child, is just remarkable. This kind of miracle strength, could only come from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 🙏🏽

    Strongest Woman to have graced this earth.....it hurts my heart when I think about how Emmett Till felt and how scared he was and probably calling for his Mother to help him....I'll never forget him, his Mother, or the four little girls

    Lord ah mercy… This dear warrior spirited lady’s recount of the horrors perpetrated on her baby boy brings me to tears 😢. I wish I could have 1/10th of her strength to weather the storms of life let alone something as diabolical as what she had to endure…. As she kept say “the body,” that is indicative of her strong faith to know that her baby’s spirit was released from that corporeal shell to be absolutely free from that hellacious pain. May you rest in eternal peace our Queen and thank you for your selfless service you provided via your strength and determination to make it through such a tragic and historical time that will never ever be forgotten.

    Bless this woman, she was his mother, and she had every right to open up that coffin, I completely understand why she wanted it open, why she wanted to be sure it was her baby, her bo, she's right, they could have put anything in that coffin, if she just had let them bury it without knowing for sure, it would have always been on her mind, not knowing if it were her son or not and I think that would have made it harder to live with, yes it wouldn't have been nice to see but at least she would have got to see him one last time

    The fact that she said what we saw in jet magazine was viewable Emmett till and was she so when she first opened the casket since chills down my spine...... This woman had the strength of God with her, because if what we saw in jet magazine was viewable, Lord only can imagin what she saw at first

    Such a wonderful lady, how sweet and gentle, it breaks my heart that she had to go through so much pain, how strong and brave she was to show the world the evilness of the south mentality and that thanks to her bravery and strength, such evil was exposed. Emmett Till and his Mom are now together next to God. Rest in peace sweet Mom and Son.

      I forgot to mention that there is a new book out that seems very interesting with new information. The book is THE BLOOD OF EMMETT TILL, by Timothy B. Tyson. I have not read it yet but I plan to.

      Have you read Mamie Till’s book? That’s worth the read and not from an historian who sat on that woman’s confession for years and also trying to profit off Emmett’s story.

      Even more dispicable is those 2 devils were found innocent by a jury knowing full well they were guilty. They even admitted to it after the trial for a few dollars!!!
