Hi Rocky. As a very experienced Gt Dane owner of many years, please ask the shelter to take away all small balls and replace with larger ones or they can choke, and very very important his food and water bowls should never be on the floor, they should always be raised to just below chest height or he can very easily bloat, and plus leaning down to the floor can also damage his elbows with them being forced outwards while leaning down to the floor to eat and drink. . Good luck Scooby. You are stunning xxx❤

Yes this comment is very important. Bloat can happen more readily in big dogs. GERMAN Shepard and bigger. IL is a very serious situation with little time to spare to have successful surgery. ( pet sitter for 15 + yrs and vet. Surgery aast. for 4 yrs)

I can’t believe the mother said “if u don’t feed him, I will take him to the shelter!!” How long did this mother allowed this poor baby to be starved!? Shame on her! Scooby Doo, you are adorable and I will pray for your safety and a loving home! ❤
And I will say this about that -- anytime I let my kids have/adopt any animal, they were told they would need to feed and take care of them; BUT I knew full-well, that I was responsible for that animal and that I would actually be caring for the animal & hopefully getting my kids to enjoy helping. Something more was happening here, and it is unfortunate - but maybe Scooby will find his right 'Shaggy' and finally be loved AND cared for 🤞❤

I rescued an emaciated, abused 2 year old honey great dane. Every rib stuck out, her hip bones stuck out, she shook any time anyone came near her. I had recently lost my childhood dog, a doberman, and had gone to the shelter to look around. Not a great shelter. she was already available for adoption, even though when I found her she was skin and bone, huddled terrified in the corner of her cage. When I found out her story, and that the shelter intended to euthanise her if she wasn't adopted by the end of the week I had to take her. She was pretty scared for a while, but actually very quickly adapted to a loving family and regular meals. She and I were best friends for the next six years, and all I hope is that I gave her enough to help her forget/make up for how her life began!
She was very similar colouring to Scooby, minus the black snout, and about the same size, though she had spent her growing years locked in a laundry room and starved so her development may have suffered.
I hope Scooby finds his dream family, and that they get to enjoy the amazing love of a giant, gangly goofball!
What an inspiring story. And, yes, I am sure the love & nourishment you gave her more than made up for her horrible first years. You are a hero. ❤

@@s7r49 I get that, but I bet you can't trace out every vertebrae on her spine, and I bet there's some flesh between those hip bones! My girl stayed pretty thin her whole life, but became normal 'dane thin', like yours. Great Danes are naturally thin, but emaciated is different!

Are you saying that since the children didn't feed the dog, the mother let the dog starve until his bones were showing? I blame the condition of the dog on the mother. She could have fed him and then given him up. She had no business letting Scooby starve.

The woman who brought him because “her kids wouldn’t feed” him, should be ashamed of herself, charged with animal cruelty and never allowed to have another animal agin. I saw the first video and cried. I can never understand the cruelty towards animals, they are furry angels. Im sure eventually she will pay for her actions but it doesn’t negate her/their cruelty. Bless Scooby, I pray he meets his forever loving family soon.

@@gypzs9That's not true. If that were true, we wouldnt have people like this guy showing their love. We are all pure love. But just like aggressive animals, people get aggressive. It happens when raised in a poor environment, going through tough situations in life and not learning emotional regulation and self control. When there is a lack of true knowing of unconditional love with in families. But it can be found again, like a lot of these animals find it here because ultimately we are pure love and consciousness.
I didn't know the shelter was so close! My neighbors have had Great Danes exclusively for decades! I'll tell them about Scooby if this fam doesn't work out!

@CC-uq4hu Unfortunately my neighbors aren't home yet and the shelter closes in a few mins but I'll still tell them! I would also take him in a heartbeat if I could but I have 2 senior cats. I would be so excited though if they could take him and could visit him every day! Either way, Scooby needs all the love and attention he deserves and pray he gets a loving home ASAP!

I used to have a great dane who frequently would clear the coffee table with her tail. Everything would go flying, and she would look so surprised, like "How did that happen?"

The family that had Scooby-Doo intentionally starved him down to skin and Bones and they should be arrested for animal cruelty.

We don’t know their story, their truth. Maybe they couldn’t feed themselves, their children. Scooby was not afraid of people, so wasn’t physically hurt, but certainly was starved. Maybe they lost their job, who knows.

Whether he is a great dane or not, what I do see is that he is gentle, loving, patient and hungry as he is he did not grab the treat outof your hand, so he's a gentleman too. How could the owners treat a loving dog like Scoobie so badly. May the Lord bless him with new owners who will give him a secure, loving home.

Doesn't look jowly enough for a pure great dane. What ever he is, he is absolutely gorgeous and deserves a wonderful forever home.
He's a poorly bred dane... we see these from people who we call back yard breeders. I show and breed them, since 1985. Show bred Danes do have more jowls... we breed for that, but if you don't, you'll get bad heads... he has a bad head. But he's still the greatness of the breed...

Not sure what you mean by that... my pure-bred great dane did not have the hanging mouth on the side. Just because someone decides to breed for that doesn't mean that is all that makes them a great dane. There are also a variety of heights. Any breeder with any ethics also would realize the dog in this video is starved and that until he puts on weight it is difficult to tell anything. The obsession over breeds is why there are so many in shelters.

My 2nd cousin who lived in Vancouver Guys, CA had many dogs and he had a Great Dane and when Billy would sit in his chair the dog would put his 2 front paws on Billy's knees and tower over Billy's head. It was so hilarious!! Billy went from a Great Dane to owning a Chihuahua!! Such a difference in size. I hope the good news will be that Scooby's adopted!! He's such a loving, sweet dog and will be such a great dog to own!!😍😍💗💗

His temperament is so much too. He was so scared. You could tell by how much he tucked his tail so much. He is so much happier. He still has a long way to go, but he looks like he is heading in the right direction. Hopefully, he will get a good home soon.

I can't imagine a beautiful Dane boy like that waiting very long. He's beautiful and sweet. We had a Dane once, and he was the gentlest, most intuitive sweet boy we ever had. He was gentle with newborn kittens (he got down on his stomach and crawled across the floor to get to them in their basket and then stuck his whole head down into the basket and let the kittens try to climb up his face) and when he met a small child he would stand still and let the boy, perhaps 2-3 yo walk up and hug him. I wish we could take him, but right now we aren't able to. He will be ok, though. I'm sure he won't wait too long.

Sure he is lovely but yeah you should have space for this boy and unforturnatly many of us have to live in appartments where smaller dogs doing fine but he deserves space and good care
@@bodaciousmos Time is also a factor for many. The bigger the dog the more activity they need. Hopefully he'll be quicker adopted thanks to the yt exposure.
@@CenerothXaris That's not always the case! Danes are people dogs. They can quite easily adapt their activity based on their humans. They can quite happily be couch potatoes.
@@bodaciousmos While he needs space in individual rooms to simply get around, large/giant breeds don't have to have big backyards. If someone lives in an apartment but has good park space nearby, that can work just fine. Or someone who likes to run and can give the dog a chance to stretch their legs even on the footpath. Danes are necessarily really energetic. They just like to be with their people, whatever's going on.

It really never fails to amaze me how quickly most of these dogs respond to love and nourishment.
He looks like a very well bred probably registered Great Dane. He cost a lot of money originally. He's got a wonderful sweet friendly personality.

Great Dane's are known for their sweet and protective temperment. We raised and showed Great Danes for over 15 years and they are one of the most loyal, loving, sweet gentle giants known . With a little love and care, this pup will give years of happiness to whoever adopts him.
Some breeders are actually reputable and breed to make a better dog. Then there are the puppy mills that just produce dogs. That does not make the dogs they produce less able to be a loving companion, but possibly be more prone to genetic disorders or not as "up to AKC standards of the breed. As much as I dislike puppy millsand wish that they'd be shut down, , I can't abandon the pups that have love to give that come out of them.@@MG-pj2oo

LOL, everyone knows when I walk in with my Great Dane, first thing is to grab your drinks off the coffee table. My Murphy was very social and his tail was always wagging.

lmao - for the first six minutes, i kept thinking, "oh, there's hammering in the background; they must be doing construction!" NO-ho-ho! that's scoob's tail hitting the wall! 💀this excellent boy kept his tail between his legs during the first video, so we never heard that happy noise. what a testament to how well he's doing and how quickly he's improved! he is going to make the best addition to some lucky family.
What a transformation in that good boy. Gonna need to do drywall repair after all of that demolition work he's doing with his tail now.
They get something called happy tail where they actually split the tail open and bleed. We had to have one of ours have her tail amputated because it wouldn't heal
Scoobie is a sweet tall dog. I'm thankful he has someone to help him. We have a dog who is tall like Scoobie he was a stray we took him in. He is a cross German Shepherd and pit bull. He is the most loving dog I've ever had. He is so sweet. Anyone watching please adopt Scoobie. These dogs have an endless supply of love.❤❤
He looks a lot like a Rhodesian Ridgeback, they can get pretty large too. Maybe he's a mix of RR and Great Dane. I hope the family coming to meet him is good and decide to bring him home, he's so adorable.

I had a mastadore (1/2 lab 1/2 mastiff). He was so beautiful and very loving. He always tried to sit in my lap. Sadly he passed away 7 days after my husband died. That was 2 1/2 yrs ago and I'm still heart broken for both of them. It has been a long road of recovery for me and my pug. Two great losses in a week's time. But I know God will get me through it. Scooby is

I am so sorry. 🙏 🙏 🙏. Treasure the memories. I will pray that you will open your heart to love again and let in one of these pooches or even a stray kitten like I have. I have been alone for ten years and have a few health issues. I would have got a pooch but i am planning to move out of State. I spent all my time on YT after I lost my GSD, just watching every video on GSDs and it helped me cry and heal, as we must go on. My kitty now sleeps with me and it really takes away the loneliness. It is so sweet when she grabs my arm so that she can fully embrace me. I will say a prayer for you. God Bless. Take care.

And and where I'm moving. I am only allowed to have a dog 20 pounds or under. It has been hard for Bandit too because he misses our dog Moose and my husband also!

Despite their sheer size, Great Danes think they’re lap dogs, really a sweet breed of dog. Praying for Scooby, and all the dogs who need loving, fur-ever homes.
Absolutely right. So many people think they are outside dogs because of their size but they're not. We had one similar to Scooby. He was fawn with a blue mask. So handsome!
In my experience over many years, the bigger the dog, the more they believe they are lap dogs❣️ My friend’s Newfies sit on me the moment I sit on the couch. Well, I should say “their” couch😂🐾♥️
@@debrassanders A lot of people also think that large breeds must have big backyards and big houses. But often they are quite happy being couch potatoes who get good walks, and really just love being where their people are.

I watched the first video on Scooby and it does look like he put on a tiny bit of weight. I am so excited that people are already interested in him. I hope he will find a family that will do a lot of research on the breed and give him all that he needs to be healthy! He is such a beautiful boy! He deserves a good life and family! They actually do well in apartments to. As long as they get plenty of regular exercise. You won't even know he is there . unless he barks. We do great Dane rescue and currently have 4 males.

@@IamSquirrel Danes are generally good-natured and easy-going. Obviously any dog and cat need to be introduced carefully and slowly to facilitate a good relationship, but in general Danes can get along with anything or anyone.
To me he looks like a great dane/black mouth cur mix. His jowels and ears don't look like great dane jowels and ears. He is gorgeous and sweet either way! ❤❤
I'm with you. It's the ears and jowls. Still, mostly a Dane. Such a good boy too.
He's also very underweight and jowls will decrease in emaciated dogs. His ears are exactly like a great Dane puppy...he's young.
The mouth could just be genetics. Not all great Danes have those big lips/ jowels. He Does have the face and temperment known to Danes

Black Mouthed Curs have wide, powerful heads. This dog is absolutely a Great Dane. That is a classic colorway. ❤❤

He's such a sweet, happy, gentle giant. I can't believe anyone would maltreat him. It's not that hard to remember to feed your dog. I've got a super senior whom I wake up around 7 or 8 am by singing "Brand New Day" by No Doubt, have him go out to do his business, and get him some kibble breakfast. It's a blessing, not a burden.

I have 5 Irish Wolfhounds and one of my grand dogs is a Great Dane. You need to watch him beating his tail on walls and doorways they can need partial amputations from the wounds. He is beautiful!

I rescued a lab/dane mix from the pound a number of years ago when he was a 6 month old puppy. He was the best dog. He lived to be 14. I still miss him. It was 5 years before I got another dog. Thank you for what you do to help these dogs and the love you give them in their time of need.

I had Great Danes when I was in college in Florida back in the 70’s. The best dog I ever had! Loving, lap dog/horse ever! 😂 I’m older now, and not able to care for such a big dog. I hope and pray Scooby gets his furever family! ❤️. I so love watching your videos

The pointier snout & slender statue ( despite being malnourished) makes Scooby look more like my friends 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks … They are huge dogs but my other friends Great Dane has more of a Snub nose his legs are thicker… he stepped on my foot & it felt like a horse stepped on it…honestly thought it was broken 😳

Great Danes are intelligent and such gentle giants with great affection and very playful. The enormous amount of energy they have needs to be channeled with long walks and play. He will definitely get along with other dogs, he wants friends to play with! I hope he has a fine family this time!

Dear Hearts, I'm a semi-retired energy Healer and I saw Scooby's first video a couple hours ago. Fell in love with him then because of his sweet loving personality. You do amazing work with the dogs. He's already looking so much better....and that wagging tail brings a smile. Whoever adopts him is going to have a HUGE loving lap dog. All Love

I too had Danes, whomever adopts him is very lucky as they are so gentle & great with children & babies as we found out. They are truly gentle giants
I love how he boxes up his ears to show interest in something!! I've always wanted a Great Dane... 💞💞💞 The thump thump of his tail warms the heart. And he knows "sit!" (Not that he's consistent in the sit 😁)I hope whoever gets him just showers him with so much love that he becomes a spoiled couch potato!

I’m so pleased to see how quickly he’s picking up! Was very concerned there might’ve been a serious medical issue. It might sound strange to say I’m glad it was ‘just’ neglect, but that’s recoverable from.
