- This fly fishing trip has been forged into a full on tradition. Meat Hang is back folks and this year we went big.
Go up, up, and away. When you think you've gone far enough, go a few more miles.. A place like this at the time we went is truly an experience. The elk are bugling and ol Jack frost is starting to move back into the backcountry.. Southern Colorado has been very good to me this summer and that trend was going to continue. My buddy Kowalsky and I were back at it on yet another Meat Hang. This time we were going to be backpacking deep into the Conejos River Drainage. The South San Juan wilderness is one of four wilderness areas that make up the Rio Grande National forest. There are thousands of acres worth of public land with hundreds of miles worth of world class trout fishing. This is ONE of many folks.

Just got back from Colorado, tried fishing for 2 days on the Uncompahgre and the San Miguel with no luck landing one, but then again we are from Iowa and just trying to figure things out! Next time. Thanks for the inspirational videos, I am “ hooked!”

Thoughts from the first episode,
With them hitting on the dropper, and the potential size of fish- ya boy would 1000% try a big aggressive streamer. Also, mousing. That'd be sick.
It is a fine line to balance! You could only get so close to them before they would spook! Even a bad cast with a dry fly could result in the pool getting spooked. Maybe as the sun starts to go down that would be a good option!

Well thank you so much for the sub! We didn't see much sign of bear. Luckily for us, those meals don't leave much in the way of scent or waste. So what little is there is hanging high in the bear bag tree!
