I love mine. I got it at a thrift store for $6 and it had never been used. I got the 1.5 liter Kelly kettle. It didn't come with the grill but that was easy to make.
I like to fill it and get my wood and tinder in it before I go to bed at night. So that in the morning all I have to do is hit it with the fero rod as soon as I come out of my tent. Water's boiled by the time I get my boots laced up.
It's a bit bulky for backpacking, but ideal for kayak trips and car camping.
Great deal! They are so fast it’s amazing. I’ve never timed it but I’m sure it’s much faster than a regular kettle👍
@Woodswalker1965 Oh no doubt it's faster and takes very little fuel to boil up a liter. Plus it's quite convenient. You only need a tiny fire, which is totally contained. Once your boil is done there's only a wee pile of ash to deal with. And it cools down quickly so you can put it away quickly. Also it burns pretty clean and doesn't make a lot of smoke.

I’ve got a Kelly Kettle which is an almost identical system. This looks just as good or maybe even better.
They boil water very quickly with a good fire.
I like the whistling feature, mine just has a stopper.

I'm in. Although I already have a "Kelly Kettle" , I have it planned to take a trip to the Tefé , Amazonia, this coming winter. The canoe is the most common mode of transportation where I'm going and it would be nice to have an extra one to give to a friend down there.

I have the same kit here & it's a great offer you have there. So to all my friends in the US & Canada, for a great & light bit of kit that's really safe to use in dry environments, yet heat efficient to use in the cold, not to mention the "camp" cookset that comes with this version, take it from me that this is tough to beat.
Because the heat travels through the kettle & the water is held in a thin layer with the heat running through it, the boil time is really quick. So cooking on top as it boils as well as on it's own as demonstrated, is a smart way to get hot food & drinks into you swiftly. The fire design is also useful in windy weather as once you use your body & pack to shelter the fire starting, it'll go & go afterwards especially feeding it from the bottom or the chimney. I even use mine at BBQ's.

Kelly kettle, and ghille kettles very simular. Kelly is irish.
There is also an austrailian version to. Good bit of kit, i have kelly kettle scout, simple idea, been going since 1890s.
Brilliant all versions you can put spirit burner in fire pit, it works i tried it.
Only draw back it takes up a lot of space in a rucksack. Apart from that its brilliant.

Way back in 1997, I was on exchange between the Oz and Kiwi army. We used those kettles, and they're the bee's knees. They used petrol for fuel. 🇦🇺
