Wait! Hold up! You left your camera behind! 😃 Thanks for the thorough review! Regarding the handle-mounts, I wish Kelly Kettle would make a folding "double-D" handle like those found on many cups and pans, and this would make for a one-handed pour AND you could pick up the kettle without the comically complex two-handed ritual required to prevent your hand from being right above the chimney. I opted to get the Petromax iteration, as this has the folding "D" handles AND a threaded bung so that the kettle can serve to transport water in your pack.
Haha I know, I've lost so many cameras through this 🤪. That is a fab idea,I must admit, I've caught my hand a time or two with the way the handle is now. I really like that idea. Cheers for your comment matey 👍
Hi Snake, aww brilliant thank you very much! I try my hardest to chat to every subscriber that comment's as you guys are the ones that keep the channel alive! I really appreciate each and every one of you guys. Thanks you! Ant.
Hi Rick, yeah a beautiful place to visit matey. Yeah that's the plan, I wanna try and do them all and move up Scotland. It had a very remote feel this one mate from the drive in, to the paddle. Thanks buddy for watching
Mine just arrived in the mail. Got the basecamp model "ultimate" kit, so it has the hobo stove, the cooking grate, pot, plates, cups, etc. I probably don't need all that for myself if I'm using my mess kit with the kettle, but I figured it would be good if I went camping with friends.
Hi Kez, fantastic! Yeah I did like that set too, great if like you say you were out with others. I would definitely put that to good use. Let me know what you think of it will you. Thanks for watching buddy and commenting, Ant 👍
Yeah a lot of people did just that. They are so very easy to use, even damp fuel works although Tuesdays video which features the Kelly Kettle in a Vs match I did struggle keeping it light but that was due to larger pieces of fuel.
I have a Trekker model with the hobo stove and pot stand. I've used it car camping but I'm taking it on my next canoe trip. It is a bit bulky when numerous portages are involved but this upcoming trip only has one portage. so I thought I'd take it along. Most of my cooking is a fresh steak on the coals the first night, then my own dehydrated meals...maybe a breakfast of some eggs and bacon, but basic cooking requiring mostly just boiled water. Your video gave me some ideas. I subscribed. Cheers from Canada.
Hi Prospector, yeah, a smaller size that one too isn't it so you should gain a little space with that model then matey? I do get you though with tge portage, it's the bulky items you really get fed up with after a while on a trip but it all sounds like a great idea when your planning it at home in your chair haha! Sounds like the perfect trip though that mate, one portage! That would do haha but seriously though the places you have over there look amazing! One day I hope to get there buddy. I've just got into dehydrated meals on my channel so stay tuned for some ideas pal, and if you have any, please email me the recipe, and I'll be sure to shout you out!! Thanks so very much for the sub, I really appreciate it.
Thanks, great video. I've been using Kelly Kettles for years. Have a few of them. One tip is to stuff the chimney full of sticks (fallen birch twigs fallen are best), then add water and place on the base with a small bit of tinder burning. Gives you some time to take in the lovely scenery.
Very ingenius device, k have o e too. Tend to use spirit burner with it as its more controllable. It works different from other kettles, from top down rather than bottom up. Looking to make a slight mod, to retain heat, if not cooking on the top, so you dont get covered in soot and smoke.
I've recently purchased the ultimate Scout kit on sale, wasn't fussed about most of the extras but wanted the pot support that can also be used to raise the fire base off the ground. Amazing piece of kit I'm loving it, I mainly bought it for coastal kayak camping but have used it on a few day hikes too. Thanks for your videos that guided my purchase mate they've been invaluable 👍
Hello mate, ahh brilliant. Yes, you don't need the cookset if you don't want it. I wanted the full kit so upon adventures I'd be self-sufficient but if you just want it for heating water that's totally fine too. I'm really glad you're enjoying the Kettle pal. Ahh thank you man, that's very kind of you to say and glad my reviews have helped in some way.
Ahh cheers Si mate, yeah a beautiful place to spend 3 days relaxation matey. I highly recommend the trip dude. Haha I'm not back till Monday mate, was thinking I might get another in lol. Thank mate as always for watching! I'll get on yours tonight too pal!
I've got a couple of Kelly's one in Aluminium and the other (a kind gift) in Stainless steel with the hobo cooker. Great kettles. Looks like a great place up there Ant
Hi Sandy, yeah fab pieces of kit aren't they pal. Yeah that's the one I have mate with the hobo. Yes mate, a stunning location to relax and spend time with old and new friends in. You should get your bike up that way Sandy, loads to see and explore matey. Thanks for popping by pal.

Your carry handle lugs if you wish you could streathen them by getting some stainless steel folks or spoons from the charity shop 10 P upwards cut drill and bend them in to shape and then solder them in to place with a specialist rod you can obtain of ebay or Amazon the only other bit of kit you need is a blow torch up 1100 f Jobs a good en . Hi mate, yeah I looked at those at the Bushcraft Show before getting this, looked a decent bit of kit too. Ahh right well, you never know what can happen. The only way to eat it isn't it matey haha, thanks man. Yeah cheers, its definitely a cookset to look at mate if you're I'm the market as I say. Yeah I boiled the coffee on mainly just dried ferns as there wasn't many sticks knocking about that area so yeah you would be hard pressed not to get the boil. Thanks matey for watching

Like the video and another look at loch trool. I've never considered the Kelly kettle I've thought it's on the bulky side but it's starting to appeal to me could be because I'm getting older. Because it's a rocket stove that boils the water so fast draws me to it. It may be my next purchase
Hi matey, thank you as usual for watching, I really appreciate it. Yeah it’s bulky definitely but when your out and about on a canoe trip it’s just perfect and great for boiling water quickly if you are gasping for a brew. You can get the smaller version, the Scout, which I’m sure you’ll love.
So what happens with the burning material down the centre of the Kettle Ant? Just falls out the bottom? I always thought it a bit cumbersome to carry about and weighty though in a canoe I suppose that's not an issue unless you need to portage. I need to get back up the highlands soon.

I have one of the larger stainless ones that’s about 1.8L or so. Great piece of kit but a bit of a pain if no dry wood around. It does dry wood out nicely though. That whistle used to be a solid bung and they’d explode, that’s probably why people to tell you to take it out. Mega scenery BTW, guessing that’s Lake District somewhere?
Hi Dave, yeah they are fabulous. I've always found it OK drying damp wood, as long as you start very small and thin plus some decent tinder your laughing matey. Yeah that's right mate, used to be a Cork in the top. Not too bad because you could carry water as long as you didn't tip it up lol. It's Scotland Dave, the beautiful Loch Trool, gorgeous isn't it pal. Thanks very much for watching and for your comment 👍
@@AntSurviveTheNight - Thanks for the reply Ant, I must check out that Loch Trool sometime. Shame they’re not a bit more permissive around the North West. Scotland has a much better attitude to camping and tourism and it shows.

@@AntSurviveTheNight I checked out the smaller ones so definitely would go for a trekker and pot stand. Just need to find a way to make it sound like it's a good purchase to the boss..
Hi mate, depends on the fuel really. Your good to go if the weather as been dry but in this video, everything was either wet through or damp. It soon heats up though and evaporates the moisture fast! Thanks got commenting, Ant

The handle and daft chain. The petromax is a better design, but more expensive.

@@AntSurviveTheNight I checked out the smaller ones so definitely would go for a trekker and pot stand. Just need to find a way to make it sound like it's a good purchase to the boss..
Haha tell her it would get you out of her way for a bit, works for my wife 😄

Lol
A bit smokey for a smokeless stove
Hi mate, depends on the fuel really. Your good to go if the weather as been dry but in this video, everything was either wet through or damp. It soon heats up though and evaporates the moisture fast! Thanks got commenting, Ant
No such thing as a smokeless wood stove!
😊
Thanks Jack 👍
