- This is the best salmon recipe you'll ever find! Cooking salmon on a cedar plank gives you a mild, sweet smoky flavor and moist tender fish. Perfect! I cooked these filets of salmon on my sunterra.pro/ Santa Maria grill using the versa lid sunterra.pro/our-store/versa-lid to trap the smoke and heat, turning the grill-top into a convection smoker. Perfect salmon!

Love it Ballistic! I love cedar planked fish!
Excellent Greg! Just as you mentioned, the combination of the cedar planks, the preparation and Versa lid grilled up incredible results. Great job!!!
Ballistic BBQ is back!
More fish and seafood videos please. Tks Greg!
That color looks unreal!
Not a huge fan of salmon, but man Greg! That looks good!
Wow, love how those turned out!
Thanks. I’ve just learned a new trick. Yum.
I agree cedar plank is the key!! Great job!
I love salmon! These looked amazing Greg. Keep up the great work brother 👍
If you have some leftover, using the smoked salmon for "tuna salad" is a really nice change up.
Food is, of course, a great way to meet people and make friends. When people share a meal, you can be sure the discussions about food, restaurants and recipes are going to be endless
Grilled salmon..beautiful color..nice job..thanks
Greg, I love that pit. Sterilizing the wood, pretty cool! Amazing color! WOW.... Awesome cook!!!
That looks very good! Salmon is my go to fish for grilling already, got to try this.
Beautiful. I love this style of cooking Greg and I really like that pit brother. Cheers!
😛 That looks incredible Greg!
I’ve never used cedar planks but I am now!
I see this on my menu next weekend. Cheers!
Absolutely gorgeous salmon, Greg! What a fantastic breakfast👍😊
That looks so good, I love salmon. It’s my favorite fish.
One of your very best cooks. Everyone nails ribs, brisket, etc. Average Joe has no idea how amazing properly prepared salmon (and other fish/shellfish) taste. Healthy as well. Have tried somewhat similar cook with mesquite here in Texas with mixed results. This will be next Saturday supper.
Awesome cook Brother, those Salmon Fillets look 🔥🔥🔥!! 🍻 Cheers 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
Cedar planked salmon is the way to go. It has a nice flavour to it. That looks great. Cheers, Greg! 👍👍✌️
Nicely done
Great Job Greg, as always - that's the way I Iike to grill my salmon too 👍👍👍
Nice job Greg.
Damn Greg, this came put great! Trying this on Friday
I've had great success with cedar planks on the Weber...look forward to trying our next salmon dinner with the lemon zest. Thanks!
Awesome grill
That salmon looked amazing
*Way to go!* 🤤
Nice grill man. Do a picanha video pls.
That looks amazing Greg! Have you ever used a glaze before? Thanks for sharing! Cheers y’all!
Yum.👍🏻
Thanks Greg - I love salmon and planking is my favorite way (broiling also works well in Canadian winters).
I'm not sure why I'm not getting your (and other) notifications any more, but I know where to look... 😉
Looks mighty fine
You forgot to check for pin bones.
Looks amazing.. gorgeous filets.
Try the same method sometime with Alder planks.
Bones ok except for Karen’s plate 🤣
Cider Planked salmon is on par the best way to have it
Tasty.
Is that a 30 or a 36 inch Santa Maria grill? I’m in the market for one and since I’ve been watching your videos I’m leaning towards one from sunterra
That salmon turned out great. Here's a silly question- can you reuse those cedar planks or are they meant for one cook only?
I would be interested to know if any other type of wood planks could be used (hickory, apple, maple, etc.).
I just pre-ordered a Wildfire 4-in-1 grill and it has an "asado zone" rack that can adjust height. Should I try to make something like that lid to collect smoke over the rack?
I can't wait for the delivery date, the other 3 functions are an 1,100° pizza oven, a conventional kettle style grill and a warming zone over the lid. So I should be set for gourmet Pizza, seared steaks, fish and all the typical grilling.
Very nice video, the salmon looked awesome. I am interested in getting one of those grills myself but honestly I an unclear about the differences between the Argentine grill and the Santa Maria. Seems like you can pretty much do anything on that Sata Maria grill.
Thanks
Actually you can, it is a matter of learning how to manage your ember bed and adjusting the grates as you cook for the perfect results.
My mouth was watering while you were zesting the lemon! Is the fish moist because it was being steamed by the cedar smoke while cooking? Could you do this with chicken breasts? Great video. I shared it.
Greg, could you cook meat like that?
Great video - I’ve never tried salmon on my kettle. Straight over the coals, vents wide open? Just let her rock?
Yes, directly over the coals. I like to sprinkle mine also with fresh dill and towards the end of the cook, some butter pads.
I honestly do NOT like salmon, but my sister in law came to visit last fall and fish is the only meat she will eat. So she grabbed some salmon fillets and I smoked them in the drum and basted with a 50/50 mix of honey and sriracha. Can honestly say I would cook and eat that again myself. I just cooked on the grate, no cedar planks.
Tacos!!!!!!
Looks great Greg . Love your videos and use many of your recipes and techniques. It seems like you got away from the people who have one or two grills . It seems as though you do more videos on the grills most people don’t have . Please don’t get me wrong I will continue my support for your channels. I just feel like the fancy grills have taken over your channel.
Noted Gene. I guess it's because I love those grills so much, it's easy to gravitate towards them when deciding what to cook. I'll start giving some love to the more common grills too. Thanks for the feedback.
Класс!!!
I have never seen anything cooked on a smoldering board!
I'm strange that I hate cooked salmon. Love cold smoked or sushi salmon.
I love these videos an the way you grill .. Awesome 👍...but me personally think salmon stinks an smelly ..I've tried to eat it a few times an my stomach will not let me digest that stinky fish ..but catfish an crappie an perch is delicious 👍...great video though👍✌️👈😁
what do cedar planks really add?
Flavor. Aroma. Just like hickory, oak, cherry
Frozen fish done right, is superior to the so-called "fresh fish" available from most super markets. To me, almost always this fish does not smell or taste fresh. Lower scrap rate with frozen fish, too. The scrap rate is unbelievably high in fresh fish corporate supermarkets. Indicating how inexpensive they are purchasing their "fresh fish."
This comment from a lifelong trout and salmon fisherman. Of course truly fresh is best.
never cedar, alder only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Truth being told by the time you get fresh salmon in your market it’s on the old side maybe good for sushi.
The myth that salmon will puddle after being frozen is just that a myth
