Loved Drew in Seattle. Very humble and capable athlete who also is a terrific person
I'll be rooting for Drew. I wasn't keen on the Wilson trade and have always believed that if Drew had a competent offensive coordinator or an offensively minded head coach, he could perform well.
Drew Lock is gonna give ol Daniel Jones a run for his money.
Lets hope he doesn't trip himself up!!!
Drew showed a bit of a spark in that victory against the eagles last year. Man plays with passion and fire. He will definitely provide a serviceable second option, if jones doesn't play well. I do believe both aren't the answer in NY though in the long term. They'll need to draft a qb next year for sure, and Daboll will most likely be fired, because that roster is atrocious.
Remember DJ is Mara’s boy, you’re going to have to beat him out if you want to start!

No one watches either the Broncos or Seahawks except locals. The national pundits don't watch those games and base their opinions of people like Lock on very little data. Lock outplayed Justin Herbert more than once when he played with the Broncos. But the national pundits love Herbert despite his failure to prove anything.
When Geno and Drew were competing in that first camp it was not at all certain Geno was going to start. When it cam time for Drew to start a practiy game, he came down with Covid and played a few days later. He didn't play well. Geno's the starter. And rightfully so. At one time Drew held the SEC season TD pass record. SEC.
Lots of rumors saying that Jone swon't play at all because if he gets injured it triggers a guaranteed money injury clause.
thats why u need more than ever to have a young upside qb backup.... from geno smith to jarrett stidham now drew lock who 3 of them could be starters somewhere.

Tyrod played WAY better than Jones last year. It was all mental too - Tyrod was visible calm under pressure while Jones was clearly flustered and scared. Unfortunately Tyrod hasn't been able to stay healthy for the last 5-6 years despite being a backup. So I'm very interested to see the competition between Lock and Jones.
Tyrod also getting hurt led to both Baker Mayfield and Justin Herbert taking over the starting job
It's interesting that Florio and Lock have completely different takes on this. I wonder which one I should believe?
Drew was told he is the back up and DJ is the starter. Not sure what these two are talking about.
DJ will not be fully healed and ready for week 1 and probably several weeks after.

What else do you expect the coach to say? Drew is competing.
Drew will have all Spring season to show himself with Jones on the sidelines still mending. If he impresses and build chemistry with the speedy and talented Giant receivers- Nabers, WRobinson, Hyatt, and Slayton- he could keep Jones on the sideline when the bell rings…assuming Jones can play some in preseason. I’m sure Daboll doesn’t want to screw this year up and if Jones is playing scared because of injury and doubt, Lock can easily come in and take the job. Plus, Giants don’t want Jones to get injured…that would affect his 2025 contract guarantee.

While QBs like that are pretty damn rare, I'll take Super Bowl winning QBs anytime.
Daboll and Company will take Drew Lock and make him a legit starting NFL QB. Look at what they did with DeVito. Maybe they trade down with the Viks and get their 2 first round picks.
Drew will compete for sure. He knows he has limited chances at this stage of his career.

DJ has a bad knee and a bad brain. Drew Lock knows how injury prone DJ is. Drew won't have to outplay a 40 million dollar per year guy; the PUP list will take care of that.

It's not like Duke is a QB factory. They produce a QB prospect once every decade or so. Jones still was the 2nd best QB in that draft.
this is why Florio is clueless and clearly had no insight on teh NFL. Literally, a day later, Locke said he knows says he knows he's a backup and Jone's is the starter. If Simms didn't carry him, he'd have no audience.
Eh, Lock said that to be respectful. He will have every opportunity to compete and potentially be the day one starter.
Jones is getting $46 million. They won't let him sit on the bench and collect it. If he is well enough, he is playing. Lock is battling Devito and, anybody else they bring in, for the #2 job or starting if Jones isn't ready.

Winning is paramount. They still have to pay DJ regardless, but if they continue to lose with DJ Daboll's job is on the line. If having Lock on the field = wins then DJ will absolutely be sitting.
