It’s really infuriating to constantly hear most Giants fans just scream “It’s the offensive line!” and completely ignore the mistakes that Jones makes over the course of a game. I didn’t know that PFF only attributed 4 of the 11 sacks to the line. I saw that Orlovsky breakdown though and yeah that was pretty eye opening.
Did u play the game? I know he's making mistakes and his play was poor in that game but u try going out there every snap getting your head punched in and then talk about making good decisions when u can't see straight while running for your life?? If u played the game yourself u would have an understanding of that.

a) I know the O-Line is bad, but Russ played with a bad O-Line in Seatlle, so thats not an excuse.
b) I know the O-Line is bad, but the O-Line isnt the reason why DJ missed Darren Waller and Isaiah Hodgins in the Endzone.
c) I know the O-Line is bad, but the O-Line isnt the reason why DJ missed a wide open WanDel Robinson.

100% agreee. Never realy understood why they paid him $160M. Drew Brees, Dak Prescott and Lamar Jackson were all franchise tagged, because their organisations were not 100% convinced of giving them big contracts. *THAT* is excactly what the franchise tag is for.

I believe Giant ownership confused DJ's education and passive demeanor with an ability to remain calm under pressure. Unfortunately, every NFL defense now knows that if you pressure Jones early, he is done for the rest of the game, and prone to make crazy rookie mistakes, mis-reads of coverage, and will invariable throw interceptions, and he also forgets to protect the ball when hit.
They saw that Eli had the same coach at Mississippi as he did at Duke and Archie and Peyton praised him at the manning camp. He’s a poor man’s and mobile version of Eli. They have zero in common.
I blame Mara more than Jones. I have no doubt the only one that really wanted Jones back was Mara and at the end of the day he told his GM and HC they had to build the team around him.
Mara is the reason that this team can’t get itself out of the gutter. He’s a terrible decision maker but he’s too prideful to remove himself and allow the actual football people to handle things.
The fans blame everyone but Jones it's so fustrating. Change the line and coaches and the team always quits. Can't be Jones though. Fans say no qb can play behind this line. Than act like Jones would have beat the bills. We have the worst fan base.

Edit: The *only thing* impactful the Giants add on Offense was getting TE Darren Waller. Other than that, the off-season/draft, the Giants focused on Defense. I knew this was going to be an issue, but the entire Giants offense is an atrocious mess.

Ok let’s start with the running play. Daball said it was a miscommunication, it was suppose to be a pass play. It wasn’t a lack of confidence in DJ. I will say this though, DJ should’ve been smart enough to realize “hey we shouldn’t be running here.” The PFF stat was alarming, but DJ is getting hit on almost every play. He’s starting to look a little punch drunk. It’s definitely affecting his decision making.

That's an exact part of it his Brain is literally getting scrambled out there and that's going to cause poor decisions but u can't try n tell that to people who never played the sport. Depends on the QB. Teams like Indy had Peyton and Luck call the protections. QBs can see way more than the center and a competent QB is able to read defenses from what they see. Teams like Jacksonville had center Brad Meester call the protections because they had garbage QBs like Bortles who can barely read a grocery list. And even a 13 year veteran like Meester had trouble protecting when he had such an awful QB.

@@POLARIS2 Because stats and injuries or two separate things. Also you can compare two players under the same conditions. Both played 4 full games while healthy. Tyrod averaged 273 passing yards vs Jones who averaged 191. Tyrod threw for 4 TDs and 2 Ints while Jones threw 2 TDs and 6 Ints.

There's a number of clues subtle and not that tell me there is exactly ONE person in the Giants organization who foolishly believes in Daniel Jones. Unfortunately for our fan base that one man is John Mara, the owner of the team, and so his vote is the only one that ultimately counts.
Our offensive line sucks and there are players like Barkley and Jones who don't want to play for the Giants anymore, they should have let them go.
Seahawks fans here Will again Lauren. Loved the live show and chat last night! I am happy we won for sure, but I was stunned and thought the giants would at least put up 14-21 points against our defense but didn’t happen. I think they should figure out a way to move on from jones after this year… Jones and the coach clearly have issues.

He physically looks like the prototype star QB, but you could always tell he's not the guy. You can just see it in his eyes. Although he may be a genius for playing just well enough and at just the right time to get himself paid.

that's the going rate for bottom of the barrel qb's. look at how much money derek carr made. $40 million was the minimum and it goes up every year because the salary cap increases every year. back in 2019 for example, the going rate was $30 million a year. they bet on him improving and it didn't work out, but the point is that you sign a guy if you believe in him, because the price only goes up each year. the franchise tag would've costed them more and this contract is essentially a 2 year deal.

A ton of people picked the regression. That is why people were saying to franchise tag him to see if it was a fluke year in 2022.
if they franchised him they wouldn't have been able to sign anyone in free agency or even resign saquon. the extension gave them more flexibility. obviously it didn't work out but at the time it made more sense to do that.

I believe last year they had the lowest point differential among playoff teams which means they won a lot of close games that could have gone either way. We're seeing a reversion to the mean this year.

It’s funny me and my friend who is the Giants fan we were just talking about Daniel Jones on my podcast, and he mainly believe it is the offensive line but as I think about it, that is only part of the problem. And I agree with you on that. There were a lot of adjustments they could’ve made but in seeing this now I’m surprised that he is still struggling with the same things that he had struggled with in the past. And as I watched the Monday night game last night, Jones just looked so like a lost puppy who can’t find their way home. and it is sadly becoming more evident that they should not have given him that contract when he signed that contract I did not think he deserved it. I thought they should’ve gave that money to Saquon Barkley.

He shouldn’t have gotten it either but they also shouldn’t have drafted DJ. Same with Barkley. We had the worst offensive line that year. We needed a lineman.
I appreciate the honesty. Too many people are in denial and look to blame anything else but Jones. Also on that run play, Daboll said there was a miscommunication and that they didn't want to run the ball. If you read Daniel Jones' lips after that play he may have said "I thought you said don't pass".
Just to comment on that draw play, that seems to have been a miscommunication, daboll wanted a pass. Either way, as QB, he should've seen that one guy hanging back and realized a draw wouldn't get them more than 6 yards and called an audible and maybe do a quick screen to the left side where they were weaker. It might not have been a first, but it would have a chance at least and still take time off the clock.
Daniel Jones signed a 4-year, $160M contract who made a lot of poor decisions, has 7 turnovers (6 of them being interceptions) and now sitting in a huge hole with a 1-3 record, and their next 3 games isn't gonna be looking pretty good for him.

You hit this on the head more than a lot of other RUclipsrs! Love your breakdown! I told everyone giving him that money was a terrible mistake! That was his first good season and it wasn’t a great season. He was in a contract year so I knew he would most likely play better but if he got that contract after that, everything was gonna go downhill. Jones never passed the eye test for me. This was the PERFECT ideal situation for the franchise tag! Here’s a guy who stunk his 1st 3 years. Then his 4th year, played really good. That’s when you slap the tag on him to make sure it was not a fluke or a one year wonder type of thing! You do that so your not financially screwed for the next 4 years! Yea I think they can get rid of him after 2 with not too much of a hit but that still an extra year of paying a bust QB 40 mill!! Teams are way to eager to throw money at qb! This year should have been the year where they went with Jones on the tag, not give Barkley a deal and then next year, let Barkley go and access whether or not you wanna get rid of Danny! After this year, you would be able to wash your hands from both and move on!
