It's amazing how many of these bounce of the receivers hands. Mac has either some of the most unluckiest interceptions ever or some of the most why the fuck are you throwing, no in between. I defended him for so long before this, especially considering a lot of the interceptions were on other players with ball ricocheting, but a certain point you can't defend any of the pics he's made, they just keep getting worse and worse and it's due to the fact that's no confidence left what so ever in him. Mac never really had to face adversity like this in life before and he's just not responding well at all.

It's bad. Real bad. However, 6:10 is a sure touchdown for a high school QB. The first read is wide open from 20 yards away with plenty of end zone room and Mac underthrows him by about 7 yards with zero pressure in his face. He panicked at the sight of a defender, throws off his back foot for no reason, and puts an absolute floating duck right into the defender's chest. A touchdown that turns into a pick off an awful throw, with a bad read, bad footwork, and minimal defensive pressure that could have even been lessened further by altering the protection a bit (what the RB does here isn't very productive)--just failure in all areas from the QB spot.

A lot of these deflected passes are from poor ball placement or throwing to receiver who's well covered or both (not putting all the blame on him. His receivers needed to make a play). The pick from 1/15/22 against Buffalo (38 seconds) is a textbook example of what im talking about. #85 is well covered by a defender who has inside leverage and can easily make a play on the ball while #16 is wide open by the sideline. He opts for the risky throw and the defender immediately makes the play. #85 never had a chance.

As a born and raised patriots fan, Mac definitely has a lot of work to do. no doubt. The thing is, a little more than half of the interceptions are because the receiver didn't secure the ball or actually catch it even though it was in their hands. No doubt some of his reads are pretty bad but half of them are on the reciever.

I'd counter this by saying some of those tips are because he's not throwing very catchable balls. I saw at least a few that were either under thrown or over thrown. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of Jimmy G when he was with my niners. Dude would throw high or low, throw behind guys, and they try to catch it anyway, but the best they can do is get a hand on it. Which is blood in the water for the defense

I see your point. And I don't always agree with the way he's piled on in NE. But man, a lot of those picks were beyond awful. Like terrible stuff from a guy with no confidence. The receivers NE has now aren't the best but his throws too leave some serious room for the defense to cause problems. Either a knock-down or pick.

Every time i watch videos like this, i always think the same thing - a batted or deflected ball should not be counted as an interception. Why should the QB get penalized if the defender makes a good play, or if the receiver messes up? A better way would be to say the opposing team "recovered a deflected pass", or something like that.

After watching this, I have ZERO idea why Kendrick Bourne or Nelson Agholor even lasted a full season in the NFL. Even with how bad they are, the INT at 4:27 is HORRENDOUS and I think shows that Mac Jones just doesn't have the arm strength needed. Infinite time in the pocket but rolls out because he can't get the ball down field without a running start which allows the pass rush to get to him, then throws to the other side of the field after staring that way for 2 seconds. 6:45 is another HORRIBLE INT, open WR for first down and he is staring that way as that is where the play is designed to go but inexplicably doesn't throw until the DB is able to get there. The rest are bad decisions but nowhere near as bad as these 2.
