This is my favorite Gaiman! I love neil's humor and a more compact story w different types of characters whose paths all end up crossing and needing one another. I think his writing really shines in this one. Only Ocean was close to being just as good in my opinion, which is funny because they're both wildly different

Loved Anansi Boys so much when I read it. The humor hit all the right notes for me.
I agree. American Gods is definitely the more impressive book but I loved the Anansi Boys taught me about a religion / deity that (even though he is in AG) we get more background to him in AB. Both are highly enjoyable but I am grabbing AB when I want something to make me laugh.

I love that The Year of Gaiman got me to go back and reread all these books, Anansi Boys in particular. Thank you!! BTW - that sweater is perfect for this video!!! Chef’s kiss!

This is my last Gaiman adult novel to read. I kind of don’t want to read for then I will have no more Gaiman.

Great analysis, as usual, about a book that I don't really remember, I just know that I enjoyed but not that much as American Gods, so yeah, also not my favorite Gaiman but still a good one.

I remember rushing out to pick up American Gods when it first came out, but it is far from my favorite work from him. I loved Anansi Boys much more.

It has been ages since I read both American Gods and Anansi Boys and while I don't really remember why, I do remember that I liked Anansi Boys more. I should do a re-read to see if that is still true.

I do love this book but this is also formula Gaiman. Not that much different from Neverwhere in broad strokes.

Except that I personally think it’s way better than Neverwhere 🙃

@@LienesLibrary Sorry for the confusion but pointing it out more directly would have also been problematic!
