Dove-tail Magic Box: Here’s an easy to build, seemingly unopenable wooden box. Keep treasures secret in the hidden compartment.
Ideal DIY gift.
The Body is made of ashwood. I used 12mm birch-plywood for the top and the bottom. The same plywood makes the gliders (which are cut at a 30° angle). I drilled an 8mm hole for the hidden lock mechanism. A small magnet holds the 8mm bolt in locked position.

Very nice. It is a lot easier this way but cutting the "Dovetails" out of a solid block of wood. I think I will use your way of this box for a bigger project. Thanks!

I love this, my son Thor is practically obsessed with lock-boxes, this is so clever! One thing about videos, not to nitpick but I love when smart people tell me things to improve upon...is you should show the box at the intro, maybe just because I'm a woman. I almost didn't watch it because 'magic box' sounds like David Copperfield and I ain't into fake! Lol I hope there is a link to buy this box I'd forgotten to look.
I'm going to send this to Thor and I can tell you exactly what he'll say,"I need this box in my life"😆.

Not really "DIY", but nice video though. To watch with sound off, I can't stand this ASMR sound :(
You used a brand new drill bit for a pin. wtf? It would be cheaper cutting a lag bolt (the none threaded part) down for a pin then using a drill bit. The drill bit is more useful then a bolt.
When you make your own, let us know how you did it. Even better, make a video. Until then...
