Conversely, it's also "only sexual orientations I find sexy are real", which is how homophobic men are perfectly fine with lesbians.
But yeah, Rahjah was just salty as all hell about her previous "boyfriend" dumping her, and say OP's sexuality as a way to "correct" that previous "failure". She thought if she tried hard enough, OP would just give up and allow his character to be het, and she could worm her way into being his girlfriend. Needless to say, that would never have worked. As a polyamorous person myself, it really get's under my skin when people use polyamory as a cover for being an untrustworthy person with a cuck fetish / partner stealing fetish. Disrupting monogamy is NOT polyamory, that's just being a scumbag. Plus it then reinforces misinformation about polyamory, to the point where if someone learns that I am in a polyamorous relationship their first question is almost always "do they know about each other?". Okay so non-dnd related story but related to that "femcel". Way back in my teen years when I was still deep in the "discovering my gender/sexual identity" stage, I thought I was potentially a gay man (non-binary aro ace now). So I used this social site called Gaia online to try and test out this identity as it was one of those that allowed avatar creation like Club Penguin. The amount of times I would tell girls I'm gay only to have them aggressively flirt with me was ridiculous. Some thought I was just lying, some thought I just wanted attention, some thought gay meant bisexual and I could still be with them but by far the nuttiest that still sticks with me now at *31* years old was the girl that spent 40 minutes trying to convince me that men only "turn" gay when women aren't interested in them, that I "don't have to be gay' anymore because she was attracted to my character, tried to erp with me and said men can't be raped and she could fix me.

THIS. I'm fully monogamous, as is my fiance. But I've given him full consent that if he ever says he's bored in bed, we can gladly hire a SW and have a lovely night in a hotel. I feel no threat or insecurity, just logical thinking because my body doesn't "function" as it should. But of course my fiance will just be "cheating with extra steps." If it is consented to, it literally cannot be cheating. And consent is of your own choosing, not coerced (I wasn't, he hates that I brought the idea up lol) or forced! So if you're hiding it, or manipulating your partner into it, you're a piece of shit and not poly or mono at all! Piece of shit should really be its own relationship term, I feel like lol

.... That femcel story is a whole new level of stupid. I don't even know what shocks me the most: the fact she somehow thought he wouldn't notice she had modified his sheet while he had his back turned, the fact she still thought he wanted her even after he told her to her face he wasn't interested, on the fact she thought gay people aren't real and it's just... an extra step to get girls? WHAT?!
MAN I am not even gay and this woman still angers me. And the fact she thinks it applies only to gay men pisses me off even more. WHy is it so hard to believe that not all men are focused on getting laid or finding a woman?!

Rahja reminds me of the freaking guys who like to make weird insinuating comments and leer whenever a girl dates another girl, whether she's bi or not (but ESPECIALLY if she's bi). It's always just an "act" to these people. Hey, some women like that attention and they're valid, too, as it's all consensual fun, but oh my god... The whole "gay women don't exist"/"bi-women are just straight with extra steps" HAS to stop.
Edit for clarity: when I said that some women like that attention, I meant the bi women or straight women who are promiscuous, consenting, and trying to attract men. Some men in that case are already aware that lesbian and bi women are a thing and aren't dismissing it. But man, it gets so freaking frustrating how many people just see lesbians or bi women as non-existent, and I'm sure even in the scenario above, the women wouldn't be down if that's how they feel

Some of the Mundane playbook moves in Monster of the Week lend toward a "damsel" sort of playstyle.
"Always the Victim" gives you experience when you are captured by the Monster/Villain/Phenomenon, and causes other players that rescue you to gain experience as well.
"Don't worry, I'll check it out" gives you experience if you go off on your own into a dangerous situation.
"What could go wrong?" gives you bonuses for charging into dangerous situations without preparing.
"Oops" which causes you to find something important and interesting, though possibly not useful to the immediate story.
Of course the playbook also has "Trust me!" which makes it easier to convince bystanders not to go into dangerous situations. "The Power of Heart" which makes it really easy for you to help other players. "Panic Button" which helps you escape dangerous situations. And "Let's Get out of Here" which is good for leading bystanders out of a dangerous situation.
But yeah, being Danger-Prone Daphne and setting up drama for other hunters to save you is a recognized playstyle. And it works pretty well.
Of course... it's a playstyle you CHOOSE. Not one thrust on you.

First up: Raja sounds like she has more issues than Time Magazine. Secondly, in relation to the bit about playing as yourself, it's not always bad: some 20 years ago, me & several of my friends in the Navy were stationed at Dam Neck Naval Training Center, and we got invited to play a Robotech RPG game by a retired sailor who lived nearby, and we played as ourselves, but with the premise that it was a sorta Temporal Operative mission, where we were supposed to have died in RL, but these inter-dimensional police rescued us so we could help out in the multiverse instead, with us being assigned to the Robotech/Macross universe.
We actually had a lot of fun, even had some random bad-roll hilarity: Like my one friend decided to go as a Battlemech pilot for a Spartan(?) mech that had two huge missile pods on either shoulder, and for some reason, everytime he tried to launch a salvo from the left shoulder pod, he either failed his attack roll or fumbled (nat 1), so he built a custom Robotech mini for that mech, and named it Mojo, with the phrase "Mojo know voodoo" on the mech's chest, with the right missile pod painted white with "Good Juju" written on it and the left pod painted black with "Bad Juju" written on it.
As for myself, I decided to be a Valkyrie pilot (transforming fighter jet/mech), and ended up with the callsign "Misfire" because, while I was a crack shot with the jet/mech's laser cannons, every time I tried to fire a missile, I would either miss or roll a nat 1, lol!

Fun fact about this first story: there's a system for this. It's called Maid the RPG and it's hilarious. The game is 100% comedy and the GM takes a much more proactive role as he not only narrates the NPCs but also a character of their own, the Master. All the other players play as Maids and the whole objective is to compete to see which one of them will accumulate more of the Master's favor, so at the end of the game (it's usually better for oneshots) the Maid with the most favor wins. So it's more like a very interpretative board game, it follows a very competitive style but it has the RPG spirit with a lot more freedom than a regular board game and all the roleplaying.
Honestly, I've watched a couple videos of people playing it and it's absurdly funny, I distinctly remember all the people playing were all dressed as maids and were constantly pulling out bottles of beer in the middle of the game, visibly indicating that this is a very good game to play while drunk. 🤣

From playing The Dark Eye, over writing "Pen & Paper" (which I have only heard in Germanophone regions when referring to TRPGs), to saying "make use of their domiciliary rights" (ger. "von ihrem Hausrecht Gebrauch machen"), which is a inherently German turn of phrase.

I agree on your view of romance in dnd. Honestly? I haven’t much played romance in dnd. Even then, I’m not comfortable doing so with other players, even with my girlfriend’s permission (we had a thorough discussion on this when I started the hobby and even since then to stay in the same page). I have gotten a bit more comfortable lately with adding romance to my dnd games but it’s still more as a side thing than front and center. For example, I have a character who will flirt and maybe have a one night stand (fade to black) but will not be in a committed relationship or entertain it. Heck, they hardly do the flirting or otherwise much. And this is because the character I made is still grieving the loss of their fiancé who died in a rampaging creature attack that they still feel survivors guilt over and unmoored since their life plan has now crumbled down around them (spending their life with their fiancé). The character isn’t meant to have romance in my playing of said character and I made this quite clear. Seduction? Especially as a distraction? Maybe. Playing that by ear, but actual romance? Not at all. For the most part I play asexual characters and even some tables are just outright “no romance” tables which I’m ok with. I haven’t really much gotten the experience of adding romance to my dnd games. I’m only even playing this character who does have a romantic history because I trust the dm and players a great deal and we have thorough discussions with each other before and after games and even, if needed, take a break and discuss it in the middle of the game. It’s a safe space for it. And this has been the only way I think I would ever be comfortable playing out a romance if it wasn’t my girlfriend at the table (my girlfriend has no interest in dnd so that won’t happen, she still sweetly supports my hobby though). Anyway, this is just my opinion and experience. To each their own. I know plenty of people who have and do add romance to their tables. And I’m glad for them and hope they have fun. I’m just not much into it or comfortable with it, not directed at me at least. Like I said, only recently playing with it as a plot device and not in a way where my character actually has it happening in front of them, more a “this is why they are like this” type of thing, or “this is why they know that person” type of set up. But to each their own right? Even takes their tea differently and that’s valid.

About trying to find a group: To any who suffer from this issue, this is just kindof how it goes for a great many people who enter adulthood. They often have to split up because life not only happens but takes priority. GMs are also vulnerable to boredom and really just feel uninspired and quit often. My only advice in dealing with the latter: DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU THEIR CAMPAIGN PLANS. There's a strong chance they'll get it out of their system and give up on the campaign.
It's a common experience to have to try several tables before finding a stable group.

As a polyamorous gay man and an advocate for guys, this is the kind of thing I wish people wouldn’t turn a blind eye to as much. There’s so much talk about incels and guys being desperate or manipulative, but femcels and manipulative women aren’t called out nearly as much. The gal in this scenario doesn’t have a chance with any guy, but she seems just so baffled by guys not being desperate for her. And if a woman has to put in the initial steps for a guy in a straight relationship, that can just be normal. Guys have been doing it for centuries, women can and should make the first move if they’re interested. But complaining about it is sending both genders back to the dark ages. And being poly but only interested in guys, but refusing to accept that guys are only interested in other guys is just a whole new level of self-centered and not understanding what polyamory is.
Also, guy is lucky to have a boyfriend like that to make him feel safe.
    Stay safe out there, guys.
