Every time this comes out it's just about 9-10 PM for me, and I've listened to every single recap before bed for the past week. Thank you so much Levy for the bedtime stories :)
I just want to say I really love the chess championship system. One would think that chess players would have picked something derived from the seemingly mathemathically perfect elo system with maybe a tournament a year to seal the championship. But no, instead we get a drama-filled tournament of candidates before they get to personally challenge the Champion, who might as well have a check patterned championship belt. It seems out of wrestling or an anime tournament arc.
@@dan1RR Yeah, it's a drawback of having a championship title to defend, you can't really have the champion participate in tournaments made to challenge the champion. On the other hand, we get gems like Carlsen making drama from the outside saying he wouldn't play the championship match if the level isn't good enough for his taste. If I wanted to know who's most likely to be the best I'd pick a metric with elo plus high-elo tournaments. I'd rather have a tournament like this to spice things up.

He was finding so many good moves and just punishing everything in Hikaru's position.
