    OMG - this is my first time meeting/seeing your channel. So glad I found you! Your energy and detail is amazing. Thank you for sharing all this research. I just bought the yarn to make the Lulu pattern, and now I recorded 4 more. I think you might be making that long vest or the one over the hoody. You are right - fabulous idea to put over a hoody. Thanks for showing black sweaters and black with cables....now I won't shy away from using dark colours. I truly look forward to watching you in the future as I just "subscribed". Happy Holidays.

  • @TrudySchwartzBurrill
    @TrudySchwartzBurrill Год назад +1

    Love this thanks. I didn’t thinkI’d make a vest. Now its which one will I do? I think I might buy two patterns and combine elements from them. This was a great way to highlight the various elements which I fine-line between them. For me I think I want the clean lines frillies or the buttoned sides and some textures would all work. Love a split hem.
    I wore vests in elementary school. I had a couple outfits that included a vest. Dickies were Huge when I was a kid in the 60’s. I had a few in neutrals light and dark. It was cold in Pittsburgh, PA where I was born. My mom dressed me very traditionally for the East coast. Plaid kilt type skirts with a vest and button down Brooks Brothers shirt with monogram and Brooks Brothers loafers or saddle shoes, lol😂
    Which made me reminisce 🤓😉😏…
    Pants and Jeans were not allowed to be worn to school in my lifetime until I was in my 8th grade year. My friends and I all brought our jeans to school one day and we all put them on before lunch. There was a city wide sit out. I have no clue how it was organized but somehow it was LA /City Schools which goes very far into some counties far outside of Los Angeles proper. The schools gave in after out sit out which was “no one went to class after lunch we all sat on the quad. In our jeans.” They finally allowed us to go to class in our jeans and we were never kept from wearing pants again. We all felt so proud and important to be part of a positive movement in fashion and school rules.

    I love these pattern round ups, you have a great sense of style. I would love your thoughts on patterns that are good for color-blocking or combining single skeins into garments! You inspired me to check out the local thrift stores for yarn, but of course the prettiest options were 1 skein only. As a solid-color only sort of person I've been struggling to find multi-color patterns I like, in the clean/modern sort of style, and stripes go sporty so quickly. Anyways, would love your ideas, esp on styling the looks!

    So, I have to admit that I'm not a big vest-wearing sort of person unless it's one that I can wear open (like a cardigan without sleeves). But this video definitely has me thinking that I now need to make myself a vest, lol. I love Irene Lin's patterns so the long version of her vest is what I'm considering with added side ties to help give myself some shaping. If you look at all the pictures for that pattern she always has something in front of the vest in her styling (an arm, a bag, etc.) so I'm thinking that it will just look like a dress-sized bib without something to break it up a bit. My thoughts are to add iCord ties to either side that are long enough to wrap around my waist and then tie. I think the iCord would be a nice contrast to the chunky cables and you can use an iCord mill to make them so it isn't quite so tedious. Anyways, thanks so much for this inspiring pattern round up and convincing me that I really do need more vests in my life, haha! ^_^

    I recently bought a corduroy dress. It is black with tiny printed flowers. I felt it really needed a cropped top or a vest. I have noticed a lot of vest patterns appearing on Ravelry. I thought I could buy one and looked at the nearest department store. NO Vests. How can they be so prevalent in the knitting world but not in commercial production? So now I am knitting the Burgos vest. This is after I failed with the Meander vest.

      So weird! I see them here and there, but they’re usually very “cool” and “trendy” and meant for someone half my age 😬 I think I’ll stick to making my own! I’m intrigued by your outfit! I hope it turns out!

    I've always said 'button down'. Somehow 'button-up' snuck into the vernacular a few years ago and then it took over. I think it sounds juvenile. It's button down.
