I think I just enjoying diving in headfirst in most things I do in my life 😅 it doesn’t always work out, but I’m glad I took the same approach in this craft! I also know myself and the way I would wear my knits which meant that sweaters would make the most sense in my wardrobe! Happy sweater knitting!!

Fellow CT knitter here 🙋I can't believe you knit multiple sweaters this past year! I also really appreciate you breaking down the cost of each knitted object. It's making me reflect about my own consumption (and fiscal decisions) when crafting.

I have to echo the "fearless" sentiment. Following your journey is so much fun. I held myself back for ages due to not wanting to make something "wrong" and rarely made anything until i got over myself. It turned out allowing myself to be bad at things helped me be better, who knew.

To say you amaze me is a boring comment at this point, because since I discovered you I have not commented anything else. What an inspiration you are and how proud you should be of yourself. Your enthusiasm and sense of humor are probably the two things that make you a great knitter and great podcaster. I'm nosey about your March birthday. I have one too, on the 15th. Go pisces. Keep swimming girl!

Hi Nora!!! I would say the Christmas dress was my favorite, and it looks stunning on you; but the other things you have knit have been beautiful as well. I found you during the ranunculus drama, as I was having my own ranunculus drama. After about 5 cast ons, I found Sundragon Knits videos, and cast on November 14th. I am on my last row and will then will bind off🥳. I really have enjoyed it: I have wanted to make it for a while. I’m planning a lace weight one to wear over a slip dress for my son’s wedding. And I like the Frank Ochre too😂. You have made my knitting journey more fun!!! A great big ol’ thanks to you!!! Happy New Year!!! Jane

Hi Nora👋🏾! Congratulations on a fantastic first year of knitting. I appreciate all of your projects and am impressed by your dress (and the modifications)! I have been knitting for almost 10 years and love that you jumped into a sweater so soon after picking up your needles for the first time (as I did lol). I have 3 favorite knits of 2023 : the Tomorrow Sweater by Alicia Plummer, the Bobbles Optional pullover by Melissa Clulow and the Reading Cardigan by Brooklyn Tweed. I chuckle every time I see the knitted doggie pop whenever your pooch makes himself known too :). I wish you the very best for 2024 and will be watching as I knit along to your podcasts🌞

Hi! I love all of your podcasts but I especially loved this one. I'm inspired to try more new things in 2024 because of your "take it in small chunks" philosophy. I really like that and one of the stitches I've been afraid of is Brioche but I'm going to find a beginner pattern and tackle it so thank you for giving me the guts to DO IT! I think I am overthink things sometimes but you've definitely inspired me so I'm going stash diving tonight. My favorite project of yours is definitely your dress - so beautiful! Hugs from Texas!! This was one of the most enjoyables 2023 Knitting round-ups I have watched, especially because it is so interesting to see your learning and knitting evolution through the months. You are most definitely a fearless knitter, throwing yourself into a cable sweater for a test knit! wowzer! Definitely inspiring me to take risks more often! Happy NY Nora, looking forward to more episodes and to witness your second year of creativity.
PS: My most favourite knits are complete opposites: I have a super fun multicolor Lento sweater that reminds me of the joy I get of mixing colours and having fun with them in a simple sweater. And then my Alder sweater, a great pattern and a test knit experience I enjoyed thoroughly, and a proof to myself that I can learn whatever when I put my mind to it, if I give myself permission to try and succeed.

Such a great video! My favorite knit I made this year was my zipper sweater by petiteknit. I finished knitting in July and finally sewed in the zipper 2 weeks ago. I have been wearing it daily! As for the project that you made, it was definitely the ranunculus! Seeing your journey knitting helped me be more accepting of my mistakes, learning to laugh at them , and being okay with frogging back. Plus your finished object was beautiful! Excited to see the Christmas dress!

I also started knitting this year! I found your channel a few weeks ago and I just assumed that you had been knitting for a while haha. Your fearlessness has definitely inspired me to push myself even more. I started knitting with the sole purpose of knitting socks because I like how they look. I have made a few pairs of socks, 2 oslo hats, a beanie, and I had a novice sweater, but I didn't like the yarn combo I chose so I frogged it. I'm also amazed at your speed of knitting, I couldn't imagine knitting as much as you do in a month or two. It takes me like 2 months to knit a pair of socks lol. I'm excited to see what you'll do in 2024!

Well thank you for joining me on my knitting journey!! I think speed is always relative, but I also like to make it clear that I am not a particularly fast knitter! I am just fortunate to have a lot of time to knit and do try to squeeze in those rows whenever I can!! Happiest knitting!!

That's an impressive first year. Good for you!! I think I've worked on 5 things this year. I finished 2 and need to block them both. 3 of my projects are Stephen West shawls which will get done eventually. One of those is a Westkints still needing blocking. I am so slow. I hope your enthusiasm for knitting stays with you as long as it has for me. I was 26 when I started knitting and will be 65 on Friday. The learning is still part of the great joy. Happy New Year!!

Nora, congrats on such a rollercoaster first year of knitting! Love the black hat looks chic & the red one looks so cozy. I love the eyelet detail in the Sandy Shore sweater. I like the neckline, it’s giving boatneck/bateau elegance. Those shorts are super adventurous, way to go! Ok you have inspired me to make the following projects: the Minto Sweater (super cool), the Korshavn Sweater (so chic), & the Lykke Sweater (beautiful!). I see you with that COMPLETED Christmas Dress. Congrats!! It looks so good on you. Hope you had a merry happy Christmas & Happy new Year! You are an inspiration.
To answer your question, my fave thing that I made this year was my first sweater (ever): The Fata Morgana by Sylvia Watts-Cherry out of Berroco Ultra Alpaca.
    Take Care, Anna

I'm a crocheter learning to knit and what I loved most is your use of dirt cheap yarns. It was so comforting to see a sweet deal create gorgeous pieces.
Since lurking in knit spaces, it felt like fancy, handdyed yarns were treated as a standard. A shock, since the crochet world loves a good deal 😅.
Anyways, I've been itching to see a knitter who appreciates the cheap yarns too. So thank you for being that person😊

    • @akaNoraKnits
      @akaNoraKnits  6 месяцев назад

Must be that post-crochet life still running through me! You can knit with whatever you want!! I think that knitting tends to use up less yarn than crochet does, so people tend to justify the pricier yarns a bit more. But I think that balance is key, and really happiness! I hope you fall in love with knitting literally anything! 💛

Impressive first year Nora. I’m ending my 4th year and just finished my first sweater in November. You are an inspiration to all knitters. The perfect state of mind to be successful too. I found your channel when I did a search for the Ranunculus (i haven’t made it past the lace yoke because my count got off so the little flowers don’t align up. Can’t decide if I should rip back or keep going.)
Your knits are truly amazing. I will be following you to see what you knit next year.
    So

One of my knits that I was so proud of this year was ‘Look at my holes’. While, (by the comments), it came easy to most, it was a huge challenge to me! However, after ripping back several times, I got into my rhythm. It turned out beautiful! I didn’t let the mistakes defeat me! Cheers to our 2024 creative journey ! 🧶🤍✨

🌴☀️OMG the red DREEEEESSSSS 🤭 you finished it 🌸 so beautiful on you. I can’t even take it so many advanced knitting projects in a first year of knitting, no one can tell me that girls don’t ROCK💃🏽I’m totally celebrating with you Nora🌷. I’m working on Andrea Mowry’s Big Cozy Cardi which has a huge square from hell to knit. I’ve already modified it by working a chunk of stockinette instead of the pattern stitch to give my hand & arm a break as I was for the first time ever feeling pain during knitting.
I’ve made many things this yr but my favorite knit this year is the Daily Pullover by Purl Soho. I also made it with Malabrigo Surroro, I think its one of two knits this year that I’ll definitely make again, the second is the Musselbrough Hat. I also made the Easy V sweater by Caitlin Hunter with Fishermans Wool & a Patons wool.
You’ve done a fabulous job with increasing your knitting techniques toolbox. There is NOTHING you can’t knit now💐 Thanks for this surprise video, happy new year to ya…and guess what…your next scheduled podcast is on my birthday…wooohoooo so thanks in advance for that video in advance..🤭total birthday present to meeee☀️🌴

Adventurous! Bold! Inspired! When I was a new knitter I was afraid to try big projects and learn all the new techniques! I think my favourite garment you knit is the warm-up sweater in the lite lopi just because of how much fun your stripes are! You played around and created a sweater that looks like it came off the rack! My favourite knit this year was a FlaxLight sweater by Tincanknits that I made using impulse bought yarn from a vacation to Montreal. Looking forward to 2024 and super congrats on finishing the Augustine dress!! 🎊🎊🎊
