モンスターハンターより、スラッシュアックスをダンボール工作しました。
斧モード/剣モードの変形ができます。
重量4.5kg/全長2.5m(剣モード時）2.2m(斧モード時）
重くて長いので腰に悪い武器です。マジで筋肉痛になりました。
もしコレを鉄鋼で作った場合、斧部分だけで120kgを超えます。
変形時、ものすごい勢いで120kgの鉄塊がスライドするわけですから、慣性でハンターの体も飛んでくかも。

It wasn’t that bad, but your right, imagine some dude with cardboard and glue does a better recreation of a prop than a AAA movie. They should hire this guy for the next one; I hope they try again at least.

@@stryker0ae It shows proof of concept, though. It can physically do the transformation without needing to rely on video game tricks such as changing its size or clipping into itself. Now just needa..figure out how to motorize it XD

I've been a switchaxe main for years and I'm only just now understanding how the weapon works from this video
I studied its animations for ages simply so I could judge what sword form would look like from the weapon previews, since they only show you Axe
Legend speaks of a mighty hunter, who had crafted a weapon out of nothing but cardboard. A weapon so devastating, that even the terrifying Fatalus, quivered like a newborn at the sight of it.

Yeah forget the fact that working out actually is healthy for your body, the byproduct is a nice looking physique. The real reward is you'll live longer than lazy people
you're used to swinging around those weapons in MH, you didn't realize how huge those weapons are irl...
Maybe. But you also gotta think. Thing's still ultimately made of cardboard. Even reinforced, it might still buckle from a really hard swing or have an unusual amount of drag from the corrugation. It wouldn't be terribly heavy, but it's not sturdy enough to take the style of swings you would normally see.
Other than that, I really like the design of this. Very on-detail.
@@dragonmangames2523 Thats the tradeoff for going down the cardboard tree instead of bone or ore, reduced maximum sharpness in return for lighter weight so faster attack speed.

00:11 the fact that the hunters only took a flick of their hand to switch the weapon's stands makes me realized how powerful they are physically
yeah think about that hunters can carry a greatsword of your door size and jump from 30feet high and land safely, they're superhumans
It's suggested that either physics works differently in MH or that the humans are made differently, enhanced by Wyverian science long ago or something.
That being said, the "reload" tells me there's some sort of mechanism that aids in the switch.
@@cptncutleg iirc most popular theory is that hunters are descendants of Wyverian warrior or something, so not all humans have that perks of enchanted physical strength. That's why you can still find normal humans and wyverians inside the game
Using a few mechanisms, you could it as simple as pulling something back for one mode and just pushing a button to spring into the other
With a proper design, it could be efficient enough to do rather quickly though you would probably have to change your grip

Honestly making a switch axe prop out of cardboard rather than eva foam seems like the better choice here as its light enough to have a gap core and still not wobble

Judge by the size, thickness and the structure that connect each layer. This switch axe it's not light weight. He do make sure when he swing the blade won't bend. So much though put into this master pieces. You have my respect sir.
