    Thanks for doing this! I just jumped from my 633 to the 833 without doing much research. Love my new machine. Picked up a few tips watching this!

    Nifty tip of using the InputStick! Going to order one of those now as a work around for Metadata entry, while I wait for a SD-Remote app to come out for phones and not just tablets.

    When applying compression post-fade (because I need clean ISOs) is there a way to specify a make-up gain for the L/R busses? Obviously I can use the send gain for makeup when sending to any other bus, but I don't see any way to send a compressed signal that saturates at 0 to L or R.
    I understand why setting the fader based on the uncompressed portion of the signal range would be "reasonable" in most cases, even when mixing compressed and uncompressed inputs, but I also think there are scenarios where having a bit of makeup between the compressor and LR bus would make the "meaning" of the faders more consistent across uncompressed and compressed channels.

      Well take it as a feature request for make-up gain!

    I was using the scorpio for a TV commercial shoot today. It was working fine in the 1st half for about 6hrs. Post lunch it started giving me a problem. Whenever I hit the record button it gives me a long continuous single beep also and none of the front panel switches works properly except the record and stop button , Even the gain controls. I can playback and check the take also. But I can't got to the menu or change the Channel settings by pressing the PFL switch. I can solo the track and hear it by pressing the PFL which is next to the input gain switch. But the channel settings were not displayed. I tried many times but the recorder was behaving the same way. Later I figured out after powering the recorder ON and once the recorder boots fully I could access all the controls within 10-15 seconds . If I record within this 10-15 seconds it will record without the error beep.But won't be able to change any of the gain controllers after this time. the recorder doesn't respond and when I hit the stop button the recorder gives the same long continuous single beep. I have checked all the files are there in SSD. But please help me to resolve this issue.
    Also since my recorder was busy in another film and I was using my friend's recorder. The recorder has the older firmware and this recorder was purchased in 2022 only. Two lectrosonics SRC receivers were put inside the SL2 unit. And one AES out of lectrosonics SRC receiver uning a SRAES3 bottom plate.

    Hi, I am Tenzin from India and we have a Scorpio in our office. I am completely new to it. The purpose of buying this machine is to be able to record all the 12 language translation tracks of teachings by the Dalai Lama independently. We are getting about 6 translations from across the globe through Unity software into our Yamaha QL1 mixer. We have translator’s audio coming into Unity server computer first in our office and then via dante into the Yamaha QL1 from the Unity server. My question is that, i was able to set all the inputs on the Scorpio to Dante. I have also named the channels based on its language input..Ie Channel 1 is Tibetan, channel 2 Chinese and so on. I see that meters for all the languages are peaking but only in greyish color and when recording i only get one file instead of all the individual channels. I have set in the recording settings to record ISOs to card and drive too… What should i do to able to record all the input channels with its channels names in one folder….I am sorry to bother you and hope my question was clear. I am not a native english speaker, so please let me know if it is not clear…Thank you for your time and attention

      Hello Tenzin! Are the channels armed? If they are being recorded they should show red in the channel number box on the meter screen.

    • @AllenCavedo
      @AllenCavedo 3 года назад

      Sound Devices Not really. I think AES is a stretch for me needs-wise but Dante has advantages regarding possible remote or semi-remote audio connections due to covid. But mostly I’m interested in Dante for the fun of learning and deploying a new technology. Also having 16 inputs on the 888 would not hurt my feelings long term. My main objection to the 888 is that I love my smallish 633 bag and worry the 888 is too big and heavy by comparison.

    • @sounddev
      @sounddev  3 года назад +2

      @@AllenCavedo the 888 weighs in at 4 lbs so 1 lb 7 oz heavier than the 633. Obviously it isn't the only thing in the bag but we're seeing a lot of mixers with an involved bag to cart workflow being very happy with the 888. Quite a few bag only, run and gun mixers are using the 833.
