@@WorthyGibbon Same. The blues look to match, I was eying up that Takara Optimus with Mainframe but the blues don’t match and it’s the dumpy ER mold.
@@chadking375 when I saw dramatic capture Optimus I thought we peaked at mainline Optimus. But when ss86 prime was leaked yesterday I was blown away. But I’ll probably display the comic Optimus head with 86 megatron holding it when 86 megs comes out next year (since it’s Been leaked megs and the constructicons will come in 2025)
@@WorthyGibbon The proportions on the ER mold weren’t “heroic enough” for me at least.
This one fixes that and Marvel Prime’s only difference was the head and the stripe and the stripe is so inconsequential. After this all we’ll need is Commander-class Powermaster Prime, which will undoubtedly be a miniature version of the Takara one.
Siege was better than ER Prime, the fancy Takara Netflix one was my go-to Prime for years now, he’ll be be remaining as late-career/Regeneration One Optimus.
@@chadking375 yeah I only have siege Optimus since he is the better one. I would love a commander power master Optimus. Maybe we will get him in the next mainline!

The 35 extra for a mini masterpiece is definitely worth it.

@@epicphantom589That Unicron was for the WFC Kingdom line, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a titan class Unicron that's more screen-accurate and doesn't need a stand for back support

Now that we have the ss86 Optimus prime, the evolution of the G1 Optimus prime is finally complete.
First, the old G1 Optimus prime.
Then the missing link Optimus prime.
Then earth rise Optimus prime.
And now ss86 Optimus prime.
No wheels on the body and legs in the robot mode, cartoon and 86 movie accurate.
This looks incredible!! I'm so excited to get this as soon as it shows up on the market. Side note, they really need to reissue Studio Series Ultra Magnus. I missed out on it and i would love to get it as a companion piece. (I'm not paying $120+ for him though)

seeing the pictures and seeing it "officially" this figure looks really really nice can't wait for the bigger picture but as of right now I don't think I'll be picking it up my wallet is in pain lmao also was waiting on your video for this guy thanks for the coverage as always!
This was always going to be a day 1 buy for me. I’m excited to get my hands on it.
ITS PEEEEAAAAKKKKK. In all seriousness this looks awesome! The backpack isn’t bad at all and the accessories are great.. For anyone wondering about a matrix chamber there’s panels on the side of the windows/chest that seem to open, so unless it’s for transformation he does have one. Definitely an instantpreorder/10.
It does seem like he will have the matrix since we don’t have every product image of him.
It's more excusable on a smaller, more affordable figure than it is with a high end collectible costing 200.
IMO clearly one of the best OPs ever made - certainly at this scale. My only gripe is the lack of detailing in the trailer - at least put stickers in rather than gray sculpting.
Toy Hax will get a lot of business from this one!
From the images we see in the animation, the trailer is all grey on the inside. Maybe I'm wrong? In at least one of the images shown here the trailer is all grey on the inside.
Takara doesn't paint the inside of the trailer except for missing link and the G1 reissues but those use stickers. If I had to guess I'd say that's probably just the way they interpret how the toon trailer should look, because not even MP10 or MP44 are painted.

The only (small) nitpick that I have is the headsculpt, it's very similar to MP10s sculpt which is a little more round-ish; I was hoping for the more narrow MP44 sculpt with pointy antenna ears. Since the antenna ears are moveable, here's hoping they include a swapable pointy ear set. If not I hope a 3rd party co will make them as part of an add on kit.

Hope you feel better, Proto. I would like to get the Studio Series 86 Optimus Prime, but if Ultra Magnus is any indication, it won't be any time soon.
Best way these days to obtain what you looking for is to order it online (Preorder), Big box stores you can count on them these days.
Distribution, Low manufacturing, price etc. it all gone to &#!+$.
While not being part of some shots, consitently optimus had mirors in close ups
I have two guesses for SS 86 Optimus Prime:
1) He will not come with Matrix of Leadership. Why? Hasbro needs something for folks to want to buy the repaint.
2) I think that SS 86 Optimus Prime will be redone as the gray/black DOA Optimus Prime. If Hasbro does this, then I think the DOA version, I think, will come with the Matrix of Leadership. The budget for the paint will go into a recolored trailer interior that will kind of look like the hospital room, and probably new hospital accessories to replace all of his weapons, blast effects, Wheeler, etc. I'm also guessing that the exterior of this trailer won't be painted. The articulated fingers can be used to react the moment that Optimus Prime tries to hand over the Matrix of Leadership to Ultra Magnus.
If the SS Prime doesn't come with a matrix, I bet they'll expect the one that came with Rodimus to be used. If they repaint him into the "dead" Optimus, I don't see it coming with a trailer. Maybe with that table/bed that he was laying on, but a trailer wouldn't be necessary.
Hasbro is LAZY, Most likely it does comes with a matrix, The DOA maybe something they do. Keep in mind Hasbro will MILK a mold, All molds that have been released in some way have been repainted or sculpted differently.

A few more guesses on what Protoman brought up with the SS 86 Optimus Mold:
1) Why does this SS 86 Optimus Prime have side mirrors in his al mode? I think that Hasbro gave themselves the option to retool this mold into one of the live-action Optimus Primes. The live-action versions of Optimus Prime, at least from Bumblebee and RotB, have side mirrors in his alt mode. (Added for Item #1.) The side mirrors might also give Hasbro the option to retool this mold in Cyberverse Optimus Prime.
2) The robot head for SS 86 Optimus Prime is picking at my brain for some reason. This robot head looks very Masterforce to me. I won't be surprised if Hasbro retools this mold into Commander Class Masterforce Super Jinrai, and then releases a new Commander Class Masterforce God Bomber. And then, we'll have a Commander Class Masterforce God Jinrai. Why? With the buzz that the MPG Super Jinrai has gotten, Hasbro probably thinks that they can cash in on Masterforce God Jinrai. If this happens, Hasbro will release all of this...before Takara Tomy releases their MPG God Bomber. I won't be surprised by this typical Hasbro tactic of hoping the fandom buys the Commander Class version, and then buys the MPG version.
I don't like the loss of detail on the legs compared to the Earthrise version.

from 6:00 we can see that the trailer is actually longer than Earthrise's.
and a part of me hopes that you can put blast effects on his backpack so you can pretend that its sideswipe's jetpack.
It looks great overall and Im looking forward to it. As for the interior deco on the trailer/combat deck, the animation models never really had it either. So cost-cutting or screen-accuracy? You decide, lol.

Interesting about the side mirrors. I bet they hummed and hawed over it. My guess is that they went witb trying to make the truck mode as actual truck authentic as possible. The lack of side mirrors in the cartoon was likely a time/money saver and when the movie came around they just stuck with it.
It doesn't disappoint me. I'm happy with them there, but I wouldn't have been upset if they weren't.

Is someone that has seen the pictures the last couple days last week it looks good for what they're trying to do which I know they're kind of going for the more animation accurate and I will say it is kind of won me over it's better looking compared to the new madness we got but me personally picking up will be a very debatable things I still love the earthrise prime and this is basically masterpiece all over again when they went from realistic to tune accurate but for other figures that could be coming up I cannot wait to see studio series Megatron SS 86 this gives him the way to pave the way for it no all they have to do and I keep saying this they need to take the older mold from the older generation model the Nerf gun one if you will since Hasbro does on nerf version it would make sense all they'd have to do is tweak the design a little bit they don't have to go into much of the realism I understand that's going to upset a lot of people but it would still work

Hopefully Hasbro includes swappable battle damage parts and 3 extra heads as well. Like mp-44 they can include his G1 pilot head sculpt, 86 movie head, and his battle damaged 86 movie head sculpt.

He looks awesome! Great seeing you at TF Con again! My concern isn't him being Commander price. My concern is being able to find Commander Class anymore anywhere at all due to stores not stocking it or preorders selling out in mere hours. I really would love to have a better strategy regarding this, especially for when we eventually get an 86 Rodimus someday. (2026?)
kingdom Rhodimus fills that role.
Theres nothing they can really do to improve upon that figure.

At best we’ll see a re release with a light blue painted windshield under the SS86 line.

Even if there are more photos to be shown later down the line, I'm already sold on this Optimus Prime from the photos we got. He looks STELLAR.

As much as the majority of us would love to see this, Hasbro just doesn't have the balls to do it. Make no mistake, with how SS86 OP looks, this has upped the ante for SS86 Megatron! I have no doubt SS86 Megatron will be a new mold. They probably make him a stupid tank again, but I want them to design it that the tank tracks are detachable and that he has the gun barrel sticking upright properly behind his right-back shoulder in robot mode. My preference for his alt-mode would be something like a Cybertronian Cannon. The tank mode is a big injustice to whom Megatron was originally.

I'm hoping this is the last Generations Optimus toy with a G1-styled trailer for a really long time. I'm just tired of the sheer amount of them we've gotten over the last 4 years. They take up a lot of space and don't add enough play value to the overall set to warrant the price increase.

I hate that they interpret the animation colors to literally be white or gray. It’s supposed to be chrome, or at the very least silver.

I hate to say this, but if the figure is taller than Galvatron, it's not an instant buy. SS86 Magnus scales horribly with most SS86 figures, let alone anything from Siege through Legacy. If you really want an affordable mass market MP figure, then by all means. It's a clear deal breaker if he scales awkwardly with everything else I own.

Other than the missing link Optimus prime, This is quite possibly the greatest prime figure I have seen. With that said, a great looking figure does not mean enjoyable to play with. I vastly enjoy titans, return, hot rod over studio series 86, because of how enjoyable to play pattern is with the figure let us see how that plays out.
He looks great but I'm not biting. I'm keeping my Earthrise figure. After getting Toyhax and a upgrade kit, Earthrise is near perfect. Not spending anymore on this character.
His face is so wide I don't like it at all. Not great. It should be thinner. At least for me. It looks he had a Donuts diet.
C'mon man! It looks great overall, but considering that it’s SS86 it makes no sense why he shouldn't have a more screen accurate MP-44 style head sculpt which is toon accurate compared to MP-10.
Guess I'll have to use my
customized R.E.D. Optimus Prime head sculpt to replace it, unless maybe a good 3rd party company can make one instead.
This thing sucks! Everything about this is just wrong to me. I dont like the back kibble which can pose some difficulty attaching Sideswipe's jetpack, the torso is too blocky, the chest windows are larger than they should be and are opaque, I prefer them clear and a little less of that shade of blue. No ab crunch or butterfly joints for better possibility for a "commander" figure. We've yet to see the matrix of leadership, I doubt we'll get it with this one. Missing decals like the stripes on his arms which can be seen on the side of the truck cab in alt mode and gray parts are missing off his shins which makes the legs look bland, and again, blocky. The trailer still looks too bland and dare I say only better then Earthrise's version by a slight margin. Why on earth is the Ion blaster cast in grey instead of the usual black? And now, first the leader class figures are getting smaller, now commander class is getting smaller release, and all this is worth paying $79.99-$89.99??? Definitely easy pass for me.
You to used to the earthrise version, what you just typed describes earthrise, this is studio series 86 and is accurate to the movie
