Honestly I thought 86 Optimus would have been a retool of ER mold, this I would have thought it wouldn’t be enough for me to buy. But hearing this be a commander actually opens me up to how much better this can be.
But still Magnus didn’t show me enough to get it over the Siege Magnus.
I actually have both and I actually enjoy my 86 Magnus over the siege/kingdom figure. Although I do miss my white prime with the 86 Magnus, but the siege/kingdom white optimus isn't really good enough to sway me from the 86 version.
But hey in the end they both have their own merits.
Hopefully his truck mode resembles the truck cab of SS86 ultra Magnus.
i get why people would be annoyed about another optimus figure but just think with this commander budget we will get a perfect chug optimus with no restrictions on paint apps or trailer size like the earthrise leader

Earthrise was a great figure at the time with the hype and all of that, but when you look at it without the excitement of a newG1 Optimus you can really see the flaws.
This Commander class SS86 Optimus I believe will be the definitive G1 Optimus Prime. This will be the classic Prime to end all Classic Primes. Hasbro legitimately can't afford to screw up what will become the ultimate anniversary product in a line dedicated to making the most accurate representations of characters, so we can expect something great from this.

The real elephant in the room now is with a SS 86 Prime being released, they have to release a SS 86 Megatron but the fact he can't be a gun. Oh boy, this is going to get ugly.
i never got Earthrise or Siege Optimus because i only got back into TF last year. the only Optimus i have ever owned is SS102 and i have my gripes with it.
i'm really hoping this Optimus is the best G1 Optimus we'll get in a long time in the mainline. i genuinely need it.
i love my Kingdom Rodimus and SS86 Ultra Magnus and i hope this commander class will be equally worth it.
i would not be opposed to buying a retool of the Earthrise Optimus with a bunch of extra accessories and a new trailer at the Commander price point, but i would definitely be quite disappointed. really hope its a new mold, with even more articulation in him
This studio series g1 optimus prime should actually happen for a multitude a reason, 1 being, we need a cartoon accurate g1 optimus prime.
Maybe it opens the door for some type of SS86 Megatron!

I want the no facemask cartoon accurate version.... I kinda hate the cartoon accurate term because the cartoon was badly made. I hate to say it's really a impossible figure to make since the figure changes so much it's more a tricky balance of what mode to focus on more and the hardest is trying to find that middle ground. Even the colors is a issue because some parts change colors the main saving grace for a bunch of that has been fake parts and collapsing parts. Like the truck grill/ stomach part that goes thru such a change compared to the windows chest area that seems to the be the stable component between the various figures but even then they change too. you can have this perfect robot and perfect truck but your not going to have both in 1 figure. On the good bad hasbro knows this and often tweeks each version slightly I would eye the rest like ratchet Ironhide and see what's the focus on on more to get a idea what the focus will be for Optimus prime. I do love the ss86 hot rod and that seems to be a great threading the needle between the 2 so I do have high hopes but I do have star convoy and god ginrai and a nemises pprime so I am leaving my collection at that I don't need 50 Optimus primes.

People being mad about this just boggles my mind. This is very much needed. Look at the SS 86 Ultra Magnus. We just had several UMs a few years back, and the amount of improvement with the commander budget is great. This figure if/when it happens will be very much appreciated.
I disagree with we "need" this. But as someone who got into collecting just a *bit* too late to get the Earthrise/Kingdom Prime, another chance to get a good one at a retail price would be welcomed. And if it's a little more tweaked and with some bonus stuff, all the better.
Hasbro acts like they have never heard of character fatigue, didn’t they say that nothing was off limits if people bought obscure characters like crazy?
I would like to see them hide the wheels on the legs in robot mode. Also a head sculpt that they really put some precise paint detail in. Perhaps a second face sculpt with the more rounded variant animation style in G1.
My biggest thing is having a G1 Optimus available at all times. Now I have siege and the Earthrise prime but for people that are just getting into collecting or getting back into it or for kids that are just getting into transformers I think it's crazy that Hasbro doesn't always have a G1 accurate prime constantly available. Sure they typically have a version of prime in each wave whether its G2 or Armada or the upcoming animated, but G1 Prime is an evergreen character that all transformers fans new and old recognize and should be available for purchase anytime.
I think people need to remember these are toys so they will be redone/ re-release every couple of years because thats how they make money and keep the licence

I have the Earth rise leader Optimus prime and for me at the time I love it but if this might be true, I might get it. Maybe.
I was all about this Commander Class Optimus Prime right from the get-go. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Earthrise Optimus, especially after all my modifications, but hearing about this Commander Prime, I already know it's gonna beat out ER by a landslide.
As for what I think this new Prime is gonna come with or do to make up for the Commander pricepoint? My guess is that it's gonna have a completely involved transformation, meaning the legs are actually gonna transform in some way and not just stick out the back like literally every other Prime. Not expecting SS38 levels of transformation, but I'd like to see the front of the legs not make up the truck bed and be on yhe underside like they're supposed to be and make way for some truck bed detail, maybe even an actual trailer hitch, on the back of the legs.
Secondly, of course I expect a fully functional trailer with all the bells and whistles. Like I mean if they can do it with a CORE CLASS Prime trailer, they can definitely do it with a Commander Class.
Thirdly, in terms of accessories, I'm expecting the usual Ion Blaster and Energon Axe combo, maybe even an alternate waist piece to slide in to mimic parts of his final battle with Megatron, but it won't be a dealbreaker if it doesn't.
Finally, I want him to LOOK like MP-44 in robot mode. I mean, MP-44 was a game changer in a lot of ways looks wise, like every 3rd Party company did a Prime that looked adjacent to that Prime, so I'd love to see CHUG get that beautiful square mug treatment too.
Will I be waiting anxiously at my computer when it is time to pre-order? Yes, this is my childhood hero after all. But when the ER version came out a lot of people complained about it being a leader class with a voyager figure. Now we will likely have a voyager figure with accessories at a commander price point. Seeing Ultra Magnus, I want to see how they can make Optimus Prime live up to that. Hopefully they pull it off.
I'll pay 100 bucks for a toon accurate SS86 OP, if they give him the good stuff this time!
I actually passed on the ER Prime, but got the darker Netflix recolor, so I am hyped for this. I expect this thing to have amazing paint and a higher parts count so we can get masterpiece level engineering.
I love earthrise prime, he will always be my prime. And I do understand them wanting to go and give that design one last swing, but I feel it’s unnecessary (at least for now) the earthrise one still holds up among all of the figures releasing now and the possibility and detail are both still great. And the accuracy is pretty good too. And I feel another g1 Optimus update is just not needed. I feel we should wait a few more years for transformers engineering to really evolve again before tackling this design for the billionth time. And the part that worry’s me is if we finally create this perfect Optimus then where do we go from there? Look at masterpiece, they created the best most accurate version of Optimus and ever since they’ve been spiraling downward (outside of their beast wars stuff) and I worry that might happen to generations, cause what do you do once you reach perfection, where do you go from there? I worry it won’t change the game it’ll break the game. (Also I like the siege weapon ports)
I can see them re releasing and repainting that commander class mold into SOOOO many things! I can see them repainting it in a cel shaded style and repacking it as a leader or voyager figure for a ss gamer devastation prime! I am so exited for this and the fact that it is coming out the same year as the missing link prime!!! 2024 is gonna be the best year for tf fans!
I really hope it's a new mold where transformation to bot mode has the bumpers actually hidden into body like the MP.
Just thinking about how much i loved the treatment given King Rodimus and especially Armada Prime, bumping up G1 Prime to that commander price has me salivating.
The price will probably bring me back to earth, but i'm sure it will be still be a sight
As someone who has collected for years, and I don't have an ER or Siege Optimus, i am grateful for a new g1 Prime.
This needs to be perfect. Including the lower wheels fording into the lower legs for once. If this figure doesn’t have a great trailer, included Roller, axe, gun, and really good posing all coupled with pristine paint and a beautiful transformation then something like this will absolutely not be worthy of a commander class title.
Also, at what point do we stop scaling up smaller figures into bigger classes? It’s actually starting to get ridiculous and if Hasbro can’t make a good deluxe-sized figure with a deluxe budget, then maybe it’s time to re-evaluate the budget given to figures instead of creating a cheaper solution that only detriments the finances of fans.
Im excited for it. Missed out on Earthrise because my Target bever had it on the shelves. I hope its not store exclusive.
I'm totally ok with the weird siege gimmick holes. Makes for a fun play pattern. Give me a fantastically great Optimus that works with my current collection.

I can't wait. The ER robot was pretty good but was always disappointing because the budgetary constraints were so obvious. I just hope they go to town on this new one. Kingdom Rodimus Prime is a good benchmark for what they got right and what they got wrong, and they have MP44 to draw from. Let's pray it's as good as it should be.

But I'm still disappointed.
1: its commander class truck + trailer number 5. Magmatron, Sky Lynx, and Jetfire being the outliers.
2: Studio series only has 2 commander class toys, and theyre both 86. No live action Commanders.
Hopefully it's a new mould, I'd like to see them turn the trailer into a stand and could see them doing battle damage version as a leader for 2026 😅. So what could legacy Deluxe g1 Optimus prime be? Alligator?
To be honest I would like prime and his trailer to at least be a bit bigger. The earthrise figure always felt a bit to small to me. Also I would like to get rid of the colapsing gun, and give him the regular beefy ion blaster. Although it would be interesting if he came with a replaceable front torso to show the battle damage he took from Megatron in the iconic showdown scene.
Grant it would be pretty cool if they took a page out of Fans Project's Paralax G3 trailer with the flip out mirrored panels. So it could simulate the trailer just vanishing off screen all the time. But at that scale it would be a bit difficult to pull off.

Siege has the best bot mode still, so I never pucked up ER Optimus....but I did pick up SG ER Optumus....and I have Toxitron will be fun to see them together

A great video and truly prophetic words. The rumours of its release actually brought me back shopping on behalf of my son and future family members as I did for my own. I’ve already pre-ordered ss bumblebee. May I ask, when are we likely to be able to start pre-ordering the Optimus figure?
I am happy with Lifeline not being locked by Generation Selects. There is a Lifeline with Ratchet. from the Amazon series of Generations Selects.. that set is stupid hard to get.
Hope it has a more accurate movie head and chest. Plus a battle damage swappable pieces. I already have Earthrise and SS 102 so I’m not really in any rush. Was hoping more for a SS 86 Soundwave or a reissue of the G1 coloured Grimlock.

The proportions on the ER Optimus always seemed off because how they modified the siege leg transformation. I wonder if the Mainline RotB Optimus was a test to work out a better way to handle that transformation.
If they take the best of all of the recent Optimus figures and spend the rest of the budget on making the trailer the correct size and with all of the proper accessories, it will be a must buy. I just hope they plan the Optimus figure to be able to be a standalone release for his eventual redecos. I almost wish they would do Voyager 86 Optimus and a separate Leader 86 Roller that includes the trailer and all of the accessories. I would not object to a roller that can transform into a robot by combining with the repair arm/turret.

I will never say no to an Optimus Prime and honestly after getting that hot rod and Ultra Magnus I want to see what mini Masterpiece they can make out of this.

This is more than likely going to be the most definitive Optimus Prime that many of us G1’ers have all wanted ever since 1984. This is a dream come true for myself personally, and though I liked the Earthrise OP, I believe it’s going to pale in comparison overall to the SS86 version depending on if you’re into G1, or not so much. Either way it’s room for everyone, and it’s definitely an awesome time to be a toy collector.
all we need is a budget masterpiece, maybe try releasing a standalone figure and one with the trailer
Hoping Commander Optimus won't turn out to be a MP44-style panel origami nightmare. If that happens, Siege will remain top Op for me.
I agree with everything but I would like to see a Sparkplug instead of Spike. I see Spike as being with BB and Sparkplug being with OP as his little helper in the trailer. Daniel with Rodimus etc. But who cares what I think! Thanks for letting us know the lowdown!
I definitely do not regret buying Earth rise optimus prime. that figure is amazing and I'm so happy to have it and I've got a lot of fun with it. I missed out on the centurion drone pack because it sold out so fast and I'm p***** about that! Now I'm less p***** about it. And i'm happy to get the next iteration with all the bells and whistles... Do you think it will be a hybrid of the siege and earth rise designs or a brand new sculpt ground up?

i didn't get the chance to get earthrise one and i think this one will be a new mold so i really want it. i think it will be more accrete to the 86 movie also.
I already spent $100 on Earthrise OP (Figure + Nonnef + Toyhax) twice (Netflix Scourge/Nemesis Prime) so I don't mind paying it for a SS86 commander class version if they do it right and include everything he should have this time around.
In 5 years we got 3 Ironhides, 3 Rachets, 2 Seaker Molds, 3 Ultra Magnus's, 2 Primes, 2 Datsun molds, 2 Sideswipe/ Red Alert, 2 Hounds, 2 Soundwaves.... its a bit much and feels like a shill move to try and justify this.
While in different circumstances spending a commander budget on meeting petty nitpicks would eclipse _Studio Series_ Ultra Magnus as the most useless _Transformers_ toy in the history of the brand, on its 40th anniversary for its single most significant character it makes sense. to release it in the _Legacy_ line instead of an obscure villain from an obscure Japanese-exclusive line as well as commemorate the 10th anniversary of _Age of Extinction_ with commander class Scorn.
I'm not excited at all, and you kind of pointed out why in this video. Things like the grey elbows on ER Optimus actually make the figure look better. Sure, it's not 100% accurate to the show model, but the show model was designed to be animated as cheaply as possible rather than to look good. My guess is that the new SS86 Optimus is going to look like MP-44, and that figure was hideous.
If I ever buy a new Optimus Prime figure, it'll be something like Volvo Prime or Reactivate Prime that expands on the original show model and does something new with it. Earthrise Prime is already better than what Dery's art deserves.
The only way it was really deficient was in the trailer, but I already fixed its biggest problem by drilling a small hole to convert one of its 5mm pegs to a Mini-Con port and attaching an Armada Broadside to it.
Skipped ER Prime, didn't like the grey part in between the legs and the trailer didn't add much. So I'll be considering this one. It's got to beat the Seige prime. I'm hoping for a mini MP 44 :)
They need to make his ion blaster the right size for this one

Don't get me wrong, I like the Earthrise Prime, but for me, he's just that little bit too small so that he looks out of scale to some other figures, and he's the Boss-Man. Leader of the Autobots He's supposed to have presence, yet he looks positively anaemic when standing next to someone like Legacy Blaster.
I hope he's beefed up just a little bit for the SS Commander Class figure, so he actually looks like a REAL Leader.
It's not what I initially paid for Earthrise Prime that's the problem. Rather, it's how much I paid for all of the Nonnef/Toyhax/Matrix Workshop upgrades on top of that to make him right. 😂
But this announcement only promotes the question of….is a SS86 Megs coming next? And what the heck would that be?

They need to work on the trailer an give it the arms that come out an roller an better back half
we should have got something else like something from the live action movies instead of another g1 prime especially this soon we had earthrise prime and the kingdom reissue,we had the Volvo optimus,legacy core g1 optimus and another one with the trailer with more g1 accurate paintjob, and two missing link g1 primes one with the trailer and one without and lastly we’re getting a deluxe legacy g1 optimus. This is just overkill and unfair to other transformers that desperately need brand new figures in the studio series line 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I just hope for the figure itself that they make something that can be rereleased as a voyager later on down the road. I'm not really interested in buying another Commander class to be honest.
To justify yet anothwr Optimus Prime on the shelves, it needs to be the definitive, mini masterpeice rendition of the G1 cartoon iteration of the character.
I would be happy with a Sleep mode redeco of him, dont have one of those yet.

I think Earthrise Optimus Prime is as good as I need for an Optimus Prime but that trailer really does just sit in a drawer nowadays. Can't be said of any other trailer in my collection.

I don't get it like what each line has their Optimus prime version and most have a bumblebee beast wars is a exception to a point it was kinda a more what if concept that morphed into something else. We have not even seen it yet and if you don't like it don't buy it spend your money elsewhere be happy. There is thousands of Optimus primes and variations recolors and guess what there will be more because of the backlash from the 86 movie. Its good ina. Way people bitch when they care it's when they stop caring but this is absurd we will be getting many many many more Optimus primes some better some worst then what we got now, that is reality of this hobby.

A billion dollar company having a scrooge budget mentality is only going to be the downfall of the company one day. Cost cutting and expecting premium prices. I hope this stupid mentality ends and we see better products for the future.😅
Same mentality that LEGO has. Neither put enough emphasis on detail because they know whatever is released will sell. So the onus is on parents who just buy their kids the toy, without much thinking to it.

It's already started a while back with the big MTG backlash. Alot of people jumped ship including some of their biggest shareholders. And yet they still persist to keep the greedy business practice even though its sinking the ship their on.😢

HASBRO will still cut corners as long this is not a haslab. You will see cheap looking weapons, lack of paint, hollow areas and waffling on molds which I cannot comprehend why Hasbro does this on their steel molds. 🙄. I hope I am wrong. We shall see in the coming months. I really want this figure to really be good. I'm looking forward to this Op, that's why I passed on the Kingdom one. So it will be disappointing if Hasbro does their same old MO and cut corners.

It's about time. Not a fan of the Earthrise mold and trailer.
As I wrote a comment on the most recent news break, I came to give my thoughts:

Leg the past die. Many dislike ER and mdny like it, but a G1 Optimus to me should not be a commander. I hate accuracy, I love the small uniqueness in many toys and Studio Series is the main window dressing for that idea: very boring toys that are dedigned just fir accuracy. SS86 and the 86 shoe ins are often the worst G1 updates, they are boring, they have no personality, and very little in the way of just feeling fun in hand. Galvatron is a goid example, legacy is accurate but honestly, besides the deluxe, it is the leadt fun Galvatron toy overall. SS86 Prime could be MP01 or a 40th anniversary fuel but I feel could easily be a waste if money as it would just be a boring, weirdly over designed, and mostly accessories. Rodimus I could excuse as he had a weird trailer and its the only difference between him and Hot Rod, but Optimus just is a disappointment and a buzzword for size class, like Tidal Wave.
COMMANDER CLASS IS TO BIG FOR OPTIMUS!
I think they could’ve made a good voyager G1 Optimus. If the Issues with ER are due to being a retool. Making a commander just feels crummy

Ironhide is a voyager that couldn’t get inserts or double hinges instead of offset hinges or even his stripe despite being smaller. I don’t think he should be representative of the limits of the voyager class when there are so many others that do more
And DOTM Leader Optimus had a much more feature filled trailer as well, so it’s not like ER Optimus’s trailer was impressive for a leader class
Mot quite on the 86 Ironhide. Yes he's bigger than his earthrise deluxe figure, but not by enough to be a full voyager scale. Ye's alot like the 86 Hotrod in that reguard.
And we're talking a $35US increase here. That's the cost of a voyager class being added on to it. They better damb well do more than add a couple more accesories & paint to the old mold. Because that would be a sure fire way to get me to never get this.
