  • Installed a new Tillotson TCT Carburetor on a Tillotson 212cc engine and we are showing you how we like to tune our carburetors. The mods on this engine are an air filter, header pipe, PVL flywheel, fuel pump, top plate and the governor has been removed. Everything you see on the video can be picked up at www.gopowersports.com.

I've seen a lot of people disappointed with this carb when they pop in a MOD2 cam and try to turn 6500+ rpms with it. I'm running an ungoverned Stage 2 Tillotson 212E (Ducar hemi) with an EC Carburetor's Bansai .265 short duration cam and mild head porting, PVT flywheel/28 degrees advance. Does it pull above 6000? No, but it instantly explodes off the line and continues doing so up to 6000. My point is that it depends on what you want, high straight line speed or tearing up the hills and trails with a low and mid-range mini torque monster. I love this combo on a Coleman ct200u-ex with a 30 series tc here in the hills of Northeastern Kentucky.

Wouldnt this model be considered the Tillotson TFB Mechanical Fuel Injection Carburetor instead of the TCT? According to your guys website it states......
"How to choose the right carb":
Tillotson TCT - Stock air box
    Tillotson TFB - Stage 1+
And it looks like theres a stage 1 air filter on that bike not a stock air box.

@@kiheirc3195 Nope. Don't touch the governor or throttle linkage. Just install a torque converter and the stage 1 and back out the throttle screw. With this setup the governor does nothing at top speed and adding 18lb valve springs are a waste of time.

That little plug seems to be a design issue. A buddy of mine lost during a ride and had to limp back to camp. I was also wondering if a TCT requires a pulse pump... or can it play nice with just a gravity fed tank and fuel filter?

@@OVERKILL_SS so that's hard to answer cause the valves should close way before there should be contact, however with compression release can be near top dead center on some engines, this is a issue so what I'd do is crank by hand see if compression release doesn't smack valves then if all good get a rev limiting coil, i have a 6500rpm coil on mine and run 14.5:1 compression

@@lerabidheavy7437 Well I know I haven't smacked valves yet, the lil sucker runs great! Other than sounding like a hit an miss at idle. lol
Idk what you mean by turn it by hand to check for valve smack though, what I'm worried about is when they start floating at night rpms since it don't have valve reliefs in the piston no more not sure if its possible for a valve to float open right when the piston hits tdc and instantly cut HP in half. lol
      Thank you!
I might look into the coil limiter though, I was just hoping to find out if its safe to let the engine run wide open or if I gotta let off and when.

The fuel is not sprayed directly into the cylinder, it is sprayed inside the carburetor in front of the throttle valve. The better term is just carb.
