Hahaha
If they didn't change those buttons in seconds after....
You can see he actually switches to the *BEEP* mode on the wheel. We don't hear it but can see it shortly after the cut to the car on the track. Probably strategy 5.
Hahahaha good one
Definitely strat 5
Legend has it Kvyat's steering wheel has a 'crash with Vettel' button.

@@danielchong5032 They can probably remap the strats at a moment's notice anyway.
outstanding move
in the past merc has always used strat 2 for quali mode and strat 3 for the highest race mode
lol I was about to post this XD
I love how they beeped out what his favorite mode is, but the dial is still on the number he is talking about.
But is that the one he was talking about? 🧐

This was filmed a while ago I guess.
Just before Australia!
You should replace the 'talk' button with 'it's James' button.

Perfect
Valterri saw this and replaced it with 'it's Valterri' button
My steering wheel has a volume button on the back 👍🏼
Ferrari?
Mine has cruise button
Mine has a steering wheel
Everyone here asking what type of car you have as if a volume button on the steering wheel is an innovative design on a very select few cars
Cool mine has a indicator switch on the back
Bottas about the reverse gear:"I think I never used it"
goes on to use it for parking the car after his win in australia :D
Came back after the race for this comment))
You just blew my mind 😂👌🏻, attention to detail my friend I like it
sal dambra Haha I saw this video just before the race and couldn't believe my eyes when he used it and posted it right away. 😅
i am guessing he did it because of this video he realized he has to try at least lol
Lance Stroll: “This is my 2020 steering wheel”
Good god, 7-8 adjustments per lap?! I practically drive off the track trying to adjust fuel mix once or twice a race! F1 drivers are super human and VB77 is one of the nicest human beings I have ever met!!! Looking forward to more wins this year!

HEY HEY STEERING WHEEL, GIVE MY STEERING WHEEL
And i thought my Playstation Controller was too much for me.
well you may think its too much in a steering wheel but everything is handy, whereas in a ps4 controller isn't, I find myself turning down ERS with the same stick i use to move my car, that doesn't happen on a steering wheel, and all the most important-used buttons are positioned on the wheel so that the driver won't loose any skill by accesing to them, instead the less-used buttons or irrelative ones are positioned in some areas where they think the driver won't mind loosing skill or focus in that situation
@@pantheRRRRR you might be right... i would love to drive a F1.
😂 Right?
I play f1 2018 on a g29, that thing has even more buttons than a ps4 controller, still really useful to change ERS, differential and brake balance on the fly during the race
They changed the rules about the weight of the car and the driver. That's why Bottas can now grow a beard :D
a race winning one on top of that
Ahhh, the facial hair acts as a vortex producer and turbulence reducer, lessening drag, on rare occaissions when he drives with no helmet... sorry, I have a cold.
@@gordonanderson3111 explain to me how one can create vortex while reducing turbulence seeing as the former is a type of the latter?
@@seanspacey4452 Short answer - by breaking up the air before it hits a high drag area, creating a swirling vortex instead of a solid flow of air, the drag force of that air is lessened.
By smoothing out turbulence on the exit areas, the drag is lessened. The teams are now dealing with very small amounts of force and drag, that do matter when results in Qualifying are so milliseconds close.
@@gordonanderson3111 So facial hair is an advantage when it comes to F1 racing? 🧔👌
Well Ricciardo sure knows how to user reverse ('N') button.

I've just gotten into F1 racing, so I'm taking crash course (pun intended) in everything F1. The more I learn, the greater amount of respect I have for the professional drivers. Excited for the 2019 season.
First order retrievability steering wheel. Adam Savage would be proud!
@3:53 Annnnnnnnd now you have used your reverse gear Valtteri ;) Great Drive!

Bottas used that reverse button pulling into where he parked the car for 1st place today!!
I like how you bleeped out Valtteri's favorite Strat

Great to see Adam Savage's "First order retrievability" term making it's way into the culture.
First thing that popped into my head when he said that
So bottas loves the beep mode . Oh ok then 👍

Would be great to see some more rivalry this year between hammy and botty like nico and hammy a few years ago. That was pretty tense
NO... merc has learned from that. They want to win not watch them crash each other out. But yes that was fun to watch
You make ‘wingman’ signify what you wish rather than what Toto meant. It was in the context of Hungary where Valtteri played a role for the team - not a general statement!

The most surprising bit to me was the push-button for talking with the crew. I always just assumed drivers and crew were permanently hooked up for communication and there was no button. Interesting.
I wish you Mercedes good luck!
Always good to understand what a F1 driver and their steering wheel are all about
That's actually LH's steering wheel
Bottas' wheel has a strat switch with only 2 modes:
1-"Valtteri it's James" mode.
2-"James it's Valtteri" mode.
"If we hold the neutral button we get reverse Gear, i never used it..." uses it the next race to get to the podium parking
"I've never used reverse" he got his first chance this weekend when trying to get to the winner's parking spot!
Very Detailed Video, sooo satisfying
@3:53 Not anymore Valtteri! Had a small reversing session at parc ferme today... awesome drive today!! Well deserved win! What a drive!

@@silentgamer666 tifosis....
They dont like racing so they dislike the video and the algorithm wont show more videos of that kind
I didn't dislike but this was a poor effort compared to other manufacturers or even the same video from previous years.
They didn't even talk or show the back of the wheel, or explain what's on the screen while racing like others did.
There's no valtteri it's James button still
Amazing explanation thank you from Brazil
Not watched F1 in some time but really good to see the protection cage implemented. 👍
@3:57 reverse saved you in Aussie while going to the podium

So, this was Great! I loved this XD. I'm not a Vettel or Ferrari fan, nor a Hamilton or Mercedes fan either, but a Formula 1 Fan...
Hell of a win yesterday
3:48 Bottas just used reverse in Parc Ferme in Australia 2019 to get into the No.1 spot! Not a bad first time to use it for!
Beautiful engineering with massive amounts of feedback from its only user, so it's extremely customizable on the fly via just thumbs. 😍
If the sides connected more like a normal steering wheel, I'd want this in every vehicle I drive! 💖💖
How that is an interesting favorite strat-mode... I like that one too
Which one, BLEEP?
Awesome content!
That background music is pure class
Half of the buttons/display have been covered in this video (the obvious ones ! - PL, talk, N).
I'm waiting part 2 of this video for the explanation of the remaining buttons/display.
Bottas used reverse mode before the podium, yes!!!
I’m in love with the pretend watch on his glove
Thanks Valtteri and Mercedes F1 for taking us inside and giving race fans details we wouldn't otherwise get to see.
And where is Kimi's button, the Drincc button?
Kimi was looking for his steering wheel. And gloves. Could someone give them to him? Oh yeah and his drinking bottle also - DO NOT FORGET THESE!
Very cool with these videos, more of this!
Honest and nice comment, what the internet needs :)
Good luck this weekend guys!

I'm electronic engineering student and for me the most interesting thing is how it really works. What microcontroller it uses? Or what protocol communication it uses? That's the interesting things about F1. The engineering that it involves.
