Glad you got one and it came with an ESC! I do like this one came with the pre-cut and pre-painted body, it is not the most fun one to cut out and I would end up painting it black anyways so a huge time saver in my eyes!! Have fun with the build and look forward to seeing it romping around!
I've just 3 days ago picked up one of these for myself. I now have 3, I have the first Hot Shot and a Super Hot Shot and now a Hot Shot 2. They're all rerelease kits as I missed out back in the 1980's but that's fine by me. 1 query I have though is was the original Hot Shot 2 from the 1980's a dark blue or was it black? Here in Australia the kit doesn't include the ESC but that's ok , as I might not build this kit due to building the previous 2. I'm in enough trouble too with a lot of RC cars at home it's causing problems. 15 cars and counting. Hot shot, Super Hot Shot, Hot Shot 2, Midnight Pumpkin, Lunchbox, Nova Fox, an original vintage Fox from 1987, a Tamiya Egress, Hornet, 2x Candy green grasshoppers, 2x Kyosho Chevy Camaro Z28 Fazer, a Tamiya Avante, and a Traxxas Ford F150 high trail. And a couple more also a Kyosho Opel calibra on a nitro fuel gp 10 chassis and my very first RC a ford F100 from around 1984-1985. My Mum can't stand me collecting all these cars and my dad has gone crazy at me. Threatens to throw them away. And I'm damn 51 years of age although never married and don't live with my parents. I only store my RC cars at their house as I don't have space to store them with me.
Yeah, man, I was just watching a build episode from Mark Bryan, the earlier Hotshot, and now transitioning into watch your video, it's great! Lovely presentation as always, buddy, have a good one there!
Masterful unboxing Fil!! Great drum roll for the sniff pal 😂🤣 I do love a Hotshot but there is nothing that compares to the original for me. Idolised for decades 😎🔥
Very nice ! It'll be fun to see you put together this "chassy" 😂 I don't like pre painted bodies, but a pre cut body is nice as those buggy bodies are a bit pain sometimes to cut. A tip for tyre smelling, try HPI ones they are _Strong_ 💫
Great unboxing Fil! Love the hot shot family, the hot shot 2 reminds me of a Rat for some reason!?? 🤔 An awesome kit, and it came complete with an ESC this time! Taking tyre sniffing to a whole new level with a drum roll now..... I wonder if Tamiya are aware of this habit we all have? 🤔 😂 It's getting bad now..... I had a blow out on my trailer today and had to go and buy a near tyre for it in town. As they passed it over the counter the first thing I done was put it up to my nose and gave it a good sniff.... the geezer looked at me as if I was some sort of loony! 😂 Looking forward to seeing what motor you put in this bad boy, they used to run great on technigolds back in the day I seem to remember. Can't wait for the build! 👍 👍 👍
Now that you mention it, that big booty and slim front end, it is a little rat-like, isn't it? 🤣 🐀 I bet you made the old guy's day by sniffing that tire. Too funny man! 😁 I think I've got a motor in mind, but we'll see what happens when we get there. I'm starting the build today. 💪
Awesome unboxing video, and what a bonus to get the ESC 👌 I am a huge fan of the HS2 but I was not a fan of the Blockhead version, just did not like the roof line. I still remember the first time I saw one as a kid. I am lucky to have an original but i am just too worried to drive that one so this kit is a must 🙂 And the mono shocks 😍 I was hoping the parts would have the ribs like the original
Yeah the lower roof line of the OG Hotshots is where it's at. Drivers don't need to see, anyway! It's all about style, not function! Mono shocks and low roof lines for the win! 🏆
There's just something special about building a working model. Especially if you were into the static kits, it's such a nice transition into the hobby.
G'day mate🤠🙋♀️, Thanks for sharing your unboxing, I like painting the Tamiya's but it's a nice change to see a hotshot cut and painted so you can get stuck into the build👌. Wow you got an esc!!!, that's great, I hope we start to see some in Oz. Have a top week and thanks for your video Fil👍🦘🇦🇺
Never thought the ss looked rad with horizontal monoshock...and they weren't cheap in the 80s.. I had a big wig kit I got in 89 and my parents knew a store owner..i Paid $200 bucks for the kit ..which was over 2/3 off retail..expensive for 89 I think the bigwig was like 329 retail price , and the ss was pretty close
@poorboysrc yes parents didn't spend like they do today, and yet kids don't do anything kids should be doing today.. in some areas they don't even care to play little league ..don't wanna do anything that takes any physical effort at all.. Basically ...this country is F'ed the longer time goes on...can't imagine what this country is gonna be in Short couple/few more decades ...which is why I piss the climate nazis off in comments by saying "the earth will be here LONG after humans are gone, DEAL WITH IT " Kids today if you asked them if they want a kit or a rtr rc....most would say RTR!...they don't care to even learn anything
Hey nice hat Fil oh and nice kit too! I appreciate your British pronunciation of chassis. You have realised that the way we say it is the right 🤣 Ooh be careful about putting your nose right in the bag of new tyres! One at a time mate 😬 Anyway good stuff and judging by Mark's build guide you will have a good time with this one. Best wishes 😁
I think spending all this time with you fellas over the pond is starting to rub off on my vocabulary, Pete. Hahaha. Cheers pal, hope you're having a great week! 👍🏻
Great vid buddy, damn that sexy silver box!!!! I was getting one before the s..t hit the fan but definitely still looking to get one some day for sure to keep my Hotshot company! I love the Hotshot series! I totally get the mono shock thing too Fil! The most interesting suspension on tamiya's are always the most unique and unusual designs but not necessary the best in performance even though the Hotshot, HS2 Boomerang and Fox etc have pretty decent suspension to be fair but for me there are 3 designs l am just fascinated with and those 3 are the rear suspension on the Super Champ what a crazy super cool design and next is the XR311 with its torsion bars...what torsion bars really!! lol brilliant! But the daddy is the Hotshot. The super cool looking red shocks with that total awesome unique suspension link system especially on the rear is tamiya at its pure best! I surpose l should include the Avante also as thats a totally unique and invented design too! Love the unique and unusual stuff!
I'm with ya there pal! Something about these performance hindering, kind of comic book designs that just grab your attention and take you back in time. I can't get enough of 'em! 😁👊🏼
I really like the hotshot but that THW1060 ESC I dont like it, mine was D.O.A. I still have not ran my Porsche GT3 due to traveling for work but when Im back from Thailand buy a brushless kit and keep the tuned motor for a Hornet. I have some crazy hop ups Im buying in Japan in June for the Hornet and grabbing a BBX.
Yours was DOA? That's the first one I've heard of, that sucks! I bet if you called Tamiya they'd send out another one? You're gonna LOVE the BBX! it's a beast of a buggy! Easily one of the best kits to come from Tamiya in a long time.
@@poorboysrc I will give them a email and see what they say. If not it's OK I have a spare motor and my TT02 can be brushless. I can't buy the BBX here in Malaysia but in Japan I can get it tax free, so the money I save will put it towards a few mods 🍻
@@poorboysrc I used to live there also haha the two flea markets were absolutely awesome especially the one with the old taxi on the roof, & that's wicked eh haha I'm around fort erie, niagara falls area without saying to much lmao

About 100, so by my calculations, I've got 900 more to go before I get bored. You guys wanna stick around for another 40 years? 'Cuz I'll be here, unboxing when I'm all wrinkled and even balder than I am now. 😂
My man, can you explain something to me? You need to be careful where you fly. You have competing airports there with major traffic. It sounds funny, but your model can get out of shape and end up in the flight path of a major airport with real traffic. You have two majors near your launch. Just be careful. You are flying in the zone of NY's most heavily flown approaches, LGA and JFK!!!
Glad you got one and it came with an ESC! I do like this one came with the pre-cut and pre-painted body, it is not the most fun one to cut out and I would end up painting it black anyways so a huge time saver in my eyes!! Have fun with the build and look forward to seeing it romping around!
That's just it, box art is part of the menacing look of the HS2, so I'm a huge fan of the pre trimmed and painted body. Cheers Addam! 🍻
I wish ALL kits came with painted bodies as I really suck at painting...Anything really. 🤣🤣

Great unboxing Fil. Nice they put in ESCs into the kits over there. Have fun with the buildvand the run
Thanks Dirk. It's always nice to get an esc after so many non-esc kits. 😳

I'm happy with the 1060 in there. The last 3 Tamiya TBLE-whateveritis esc's were full of magic smoke and as soon as I went to calibrate... Poof! 🤦

I have a re-release Super Hot Shot, and I love it.
They are definitely the best performers in the HS series. And they look so good! 😍
I think Tamiya moving over to the 1060 ESC was a great move. You can decent performance out of the old silver can on 3s.
I couldn't agree more. And when you cook the silver can, they're inexpensive to replace with another. 😁
