    Mirroring is weird, it became a survival strategy for me growing up because I needed people to like me otherwise I'd get bullied all the time. Then it backfired every time that I started to show my real self hoping my new "friends" would actually like the real me and I'd be abandoned every time.

    • @GoogleStinks-j1r
      @GoogleStinks-j1r Месяц назад +15

      Well, that's just a bad strategy. By mimicking them and then suddenly not when you reveal your actual self, they rightfully think that you are untrustworthy and cut ties. Just be yourself so when you do find someone who wants to be your friend, it ends up working out because you aren't copying their every move like a sad parody of a parrot. As long as you meet halfway with them and be honest about your character, they typically won't abandon you

      Yeah, "be yourself" doesn't work, especially when you're neuro-divergent. You know how much trouble I've gotten into for just "being myself?"
      Thought experiment: how many people do you talk to in a day? Do you "be yourself" around people like your boss? Or that cashier at the drive through? Probably not, because you know they don't care. Most people don't actually care about who you "really are" they only care about you if you are useful to them in some way. The moment you stop being useful and actually become a person with your own thoughts and feelings and life, they get uncomfortable and bail. You no longer serve the purpose they need you for. And friends and family react the exact same way. Nobody wants to see you, they want to see the mirror of themselves in you.
      We all instinctively act like different people in different situations. The person you are at work is different than the one at home. The person you are in public is different than the person you are in the privacy of your own bedroom. We mirror the people around us all the time so that we appear normal, it's called "fitting in"
      That is why, no matter what is going on in our lives, when someone asks us how we are, we automatically say "I'm fine." We lie, to them and to ourselves, because keeping that mask up, keeping up the appearance of being "normal," is what keeps us alive.

      @@themisfitowl2595 Just sounds like you're a pussy who's afraid to be a man. Grow some balls and stand up for yourself instead of blaming all of your problems on the people around you, the only thing you're a victim of is your own ego

So I asked him to wash the dishes, and he agreed (apart from that he was lazy in everything and told me I should ask him to do chores instead of expecting it to be done (he’s a 32 year old man who lived with me without his parents doing anything for him))

    Fun fact, sin’s punishment is death, and since all humans have sinned at least once, we cannot atone for it. That is why the goat and animals (are not in sin) were used in the Bible to help us, because God wants us to be clean and with Him, but sin separates us. That is why later on, the Son of God - Jesus, came down to atone for all humanity. Sinless, in a form of a human, God by nature. He resurrected and defeated death. Some backstory! Also we can all inherit eternal life if we want to, it takes faith and a surrendered life to Jesus❤ He transforms us beautifully. Religion is one thing, but if there is a God (there is) He isnt gonna be found only in religion. Ik some of us fear monger and i have been properly launched into severe anxiety by that. Jesus did not come to condemn so idk why we as christians think we should. John 3:17 (my favourite is 1 corinthians 13)
