My cousin and I watched this when it first aired on MTV and we taped it on a VCR tape and watched this so much we almost wore it out. He passed away a few months ago and watching this will always remind me of all the great times we had together, he was like my little brother. R.I.P. Roger I love you buddy 🙏
Watching this in 2024, again. My favourite band at their best, pity that was the end of that era, they had so much more to offer. RIP Eddie. Keep the flame alive Sammy and Mikey.
This was on 3/11/95 in Pensacola, FL at the Pensacola Civic Center. My birthday is March 1st and I got a ticket as a present. Best present ever. The very first show is the the best. Eddie plays more than the standard notes than you see in later ones. My favorite band of all. I was 37 and he was 39.
@@thefonzkiss In all fairness I think he means for this hard edge Van Halen Rock n Roll Sound only they could do. Early David Lee Roth was good also. To say the best is subjective and one's opinion. Eddie's style was so UNIQUE and ONE OF A KIND which makes him one of THE BEST no doubt. RIP Eddie.

Yea I have been thinking on that, he didn't get the credit he deserves for the ratings at least. But he sure got credit paid in cash though . Worth over 70 million when Ed passed. You know most of that moola came from when he was in the band sheeeeeiiiit.
The older I get the more I appreciate the Hagar years. The first time I saw VH with Sammy he admitted to being sick and they cut the show slightly short. When they came back the next year Sammy remembered that show and the band played a longer set to make it up. Sammy is seriously classy.
No words to describe how great this band was…Eddie was just one in a billion…the band put on such a magnificent show that that!…Rip King Edward…will live forever in our hearts
Awesome... Alex was a big influence when I was a kid, along with Neil Peart, even Peter Criss. I like both generations of the band. It sucked seeing Michael leave but he went with Sammy afterward and still rips it up
I was born in 1963. Became a full fledged rocker by age 10. And Fell in love with Van Halen about 1975. I loved them in the 80s. I loved them in the 90s. I loved them in the early 2000s. I loved them in the mid 2000’s till 2020. Oh God love you Eddie! RIP! I will love Van Halen till I die and probably in heaven too. Who knows Jesus just might be a rocker too. I hope so. Still I know he has Eddie. I know Jesus loves Eddie. It’s going to be ok Wolfgang! You will see him again, Leslye
I'm believing Eddys with his Creator , the one who gave him that incredible gift. Alex was a ordained minister, and They both went to church together. Who knows?.I know one thing.when I get to heaven, Ill be looking for him ,😇💕💕
Well dude, Jesus I think likes all kinds of music as long as it doesn't promote sin. I know this because we were created in His image with the attributes and emotions He has. That's how he knows us as well as He does. I have never had a formal guitar lesson in my life. I was so frustrated as a kid too because I wanted to play guitar in the worst way and my left-hand wrist and fingers would not stretch far enough to play, I kept trying and experimenting with tunings. He gave me personal guidance to develop this tuning. I was 14 in 1975. By the time I got to high school, I was playing guitar by ear along with records and tapes. I was poor. I got some really cheap knockoff guitars to suffer with. But I read books and learned how to make the guitars playable so I would stop slicing my left-hand fingers open. No money for an amplifier. I had to build my own out of an old Edison small tape recorder. I put the machine on RECORD, plugged a mic into the machine, plugged an earphone cord into the earphone jack, and connected the other end to a speaker. I got a hellacious tone out of that rig. I built my first amp out of that amp and 4 4-inch speakers in a box. It looked like a squirty little Marshall knockoff. Put a steel grate on the front and we were ready to go. I played junky guitars as I said before and I learned how to fix them to make them playable. I broke many. Smashed a few. sold a few and, as EVH has stated in many interviews when the question came up "How did you learn to play like that?" Practice, Practice, practice and when you are tired, practice some more. Fast forward to today. I have a wife who supports my habit. I've been married to her for 40 years. I lost a lot of equipment by pawning it and then was not able to retrieve it because of no money. Then I married her and she would not let me pawn anything! I kept it and worked on it until it sounded like I wanted it to sound. Eddie Van Halen had a similar start as I with working in guitars, fix this, fix that until I had something I was proud of while also being playable. I've been through half stacks; Marshalls and Crates. No, I didn't set the Crates on fire like others have. I worked with them until I found the ones I liked. Now I've played in several bands and they adapted to my playing style by not looking at my fingering positions because they would swear at me. . in case you are wondering about my tuning, it's E/B/B/F# /B/D#. Weird I know but EVERYONE has to find their own way to adapt. Many people have cut me breaks over the years and yes, I played Van Halen songs but frankly, they are so meticulous because Edward and Alex had formal musical training, It turns out that they had a similar experience as I did so I figured that if the idea modifying stuff to adapt worked for them, it would work for me. I was right to come to this conclusion. Find your way to do something you love. To thine own self be true because we have a world full of phony balonies. I don't want to be one of them.
Again van Halen music always took me spirit higher and positive like a angel 😇 watching over this earth 🌎 1st album was proof for my experience and existence
Balance was my favorite of the Van Hagar era. It was heavy and dark…much less poppy than the other albums. I loved the DLR era but can’t deny that Hagar definitely brought them greater commercial success even if at the expense of the classic vh sound. Both eras have their merits but at the end of the day it was all Eddie. Period.
After all these years my final conclusion is that Eddie is absolutely the best guitarist ever. Every other guitarist no matter how great they are you can say they sound like something else. Eddie sounds like Eddie all the time. And, is the only guitarist I’ve ever heard make a very busy guitar not sound busy but perfectly deliberate.
Years and MANY hours of just Ed and Al playing together. Both gladly filled any holes that needed filling. And with only the 2 of them playing ...there were MANY. 2 of the most dedicated musicians to their craft that I`ve ever heard of or seen. Van Halen Rising...if you have not read it...please do. A great read that anyone can enjoy. A lessen in dedication, hard work, and believing in yourself.
SRV and Mark Knopfler have always been my top two favorite, but I totally agree only Eddie sounds like Eddie. Eddie's guitar sound is so easy to identify. You'd have to be a compete airhead not to know he was playing after his first three notes
Man I just love rock music, haven't seen much Van Halen live footage. This concert just solidified my belief that live loud music has got to be the absolute best thing in the whole world.
That was like a dream come true. They even finished with my favorite song "Dreams", and it sounded even better than the original recording. Absolute legend.
Damn this concert is so much better than I remembered. I honestly wasn't crazy about this material when it was new.... ages ago. But watching it now, Eddie's guitar playing here is truly mind-blowing.
Definitely wasn't listening to VAN HAGAR in 1995 or much of anything at that point . Really didn't feel much until halfway through the show. Pretty good production and camera work throughout.
That's because the movie Idiocracy is true, and everything is becoming lower quality, more mundane, and above all, dumber. We all had higher expectations back then because the bar for "great" was so much higher.....
@NoneMcNobody I think I know it started by GEN X teens . They as a group are slackers and tricksters and among themselves have a group think. They learned not to criticize any accomplishment everything was good or I JUST DONT CARE attitude. Although given some of the best rocknroll by the boomer generation they immediately torn down everything and replaced it with a bunch of rubbish. Suddenly garbage became genius and that was fine for marketing and labeis. The dumber the better
I'm listening to this while I'm working on aircraft structural dynamics homework at 1am. I hear Dreams at the end, with the powerful bass & drums, and of course, Eddie's Guitar, it made me smile :D
When it's Love, is one of the most heartfelt songs Eddie and Sammy wrote together Eddie's guitar just melts your heart. and the backing vocals between Eddie and Michael are so beautiful. I might be wrong but I feel this was Eddie's way of telling Valerie how much he loved her.
Eddie and Alex wrote the music before Sammy and Sammy wrote the lyrics. Eddie has said the solo was a nod to Eric Clapton. Van Halen has always shared song writing credits between the whole band no matter who wrote what.
I remember when Eddie cut his hair for this album/tour, thinking how old he looked.... and I'm looking at him now, older than he was in this video, and I can't believe how much like a kid he looks here. This was fun. Thanks for posting.
No, that’s not why he cut his hair in ‘95 for this tour. Jan Van Halen died in ‘87 - they dedicated their OU812 album to him. Eddie said in a 1995 Rolling Stone interview that he just decided to cut his hair off after having a few drinks.

I was one of those VH fans that was skeptical about Hagar. But God, dude can flat sing. Incredible range. And he and Mikey's voices blend so well. So now, I admit I was wrong - and feel like Sammy is vastly underrated and appreciated.
Thank you 👍 for recognizing TRUE talent!!!! If he wasn't Good, Eddie would have NEVER permitted him on stage with them and to share in his songwriting sessions!!!!!4 STRAIGHT #1 ALBUMS STARTING WITH 5150 after SAMMY took OVER!!!! The FANS spoke and the rest is history!!!!! SAMMY was a TRUE team player who appreciated 👍 Eddie's talents and didn't try to steal Eddie's showmanship and limelight away from him like that guy in the monkey suit screeching and howling like a hyena mated with a Rooster 🐓!!!!!
Same boat brutha, always said DLR or bust, I’m realizing both are amazing in their own respects and love listening to both! Long live the mighty MIGHTY VH!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I'm gonna flip this. I was not a big dlr fan until recently. I always thought Sam was the best. I still do, but as I'm getting old I really enjoy the old dlr stuff. 5150 came out when I was a jr in high school. When dlr did his solo album and 5150 was out too. It was truly amazing. It was like having two van Halen groups with Steve Vai playing for dlr. What a blessing it was to witness and hear this stuff as it was happening.
Eddie says: Crank it up!! One of his best quotes was: "You can't just play the sounds and tones.. You have to feel them "PHYSICALLY" also"...Still mourning you my friend. ⚡🎸
Not only be the best guitarist, but when it's time to play the guitar solo, smile and not only give musical notes, but also transmit joy! There wasn't a man who enjoyed a solo more than EVH!
I saw this tour in Dayton Ohio in 95. Little did we all know it would be the end of the Mike and Sammy era. They were at their best with this line-up in my opinion.
Fantastic show and I loved that they did 8 songs off the newest album "Balance" at the time....most bands are afraid of doing no more than two or three new songs when they have a catalog of songs, such as a band like VH does. 8 songs from "Balance". 2 songs from "F.U.C.K.". 2 songs from "OU812" and 3 songs from "5150" along with a classic hit from "1984" and then a moment for each four members with a bass solo, drum solo, guitar solo and a Sammy solo. So glad that this was recored and hopefully release one day in full HD/blu-ray or what ever format ...just needs to be seen and owned by all VH fans now, and those to come. R.I.P. Edward. You and the band were one of a kind for sure. 💚
I feel like many fans of Eddie see and hear the tapping, the lightning fast solos and melodies, but what blows me away is his ability to effortlessly juggle playing both lead and rhythm guitar at the same time
Feelin', Seventh Seal, and Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do are immensely heavy songs. Raw in terms of emotion. Feelin' is something I really enjoyed learning to play back then. Balucitherium is a damn good instrumental that got no love. Not their greatest, but definitely underrated.
Alex's drumming is so underated. Probably because he's overshadowed by his brothers guitar playing. They are both great. Gotta get Mike back in the band too.
I think balance is the most underrated album of all time. Lots of instrumental be the guitar guru EVH but some of the most poIlifetic lyrics by Sammy; Feelings, Seventh Seal & Don't Tell Me are untouchable by any other singer.
@shonnamay8331 It’s not like you were personal friends with them. Just watch them and enjoy the music they made. It shouldn’t “hurt your heart.” Get a grip. Jumped up bald headed Jesus Palomino!
Eddie's guitar tone is so articulate and detailed! Those Peavey 5150's are the best sounding after his original Marshall plexi's in my opinion. Thanks for posting.
There’s a good chance he went back to Soldano for a brief moment during the Balance years. The rumor was he was using a SLO 100 somehow in conjunction with his old plexi. I’ve owned many 5150’s as well as an SLO-100. His tone here sounds closer to Soldano. They are brighter, more shimmer. Guitar nerd info right here.
@@VBshredder yeah that is true about the clean channel. Not sure what the intent I guess unless you cranked the amp open to get more power tube interaction/saturation.
ALEX IS THE BEST DRUMMER OF ALL TIMES! He and Eddie devoted their lives to what we hear in this, THE BEST ROCK GROUP EVER! My personal favorite EVER. The lyrics are brilliant. Alex is losing his mind on those drums, for 2 hours. Michael spanks that bass. Sammy, awesome frontman with his bandmates. EDDIE, NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THAT MAN OTHER THAN, BRILLIANT, GENIUS KIND, A MUSICAL ANOMALY!
Well. I accidentally erased my comment while trying to reply to a guy by the name of Tito....he commented on mine. In short; just about everyone speakes of how great Eddie is....he is, Michael Anthony with his Background Vocals molded VH into having the sound they had, Wolfie came in and did his job, Sammy is still, at 75, a phenomenal Singer, Dave WAS a great Frontman..not much of a Singer, but put on one helluva show, but......and it's a HUGE BUT.....hardly ANYONE ever talks about what an incredible Drummer Alex is!! He's a MASTER OF HIS KIT!! Although I'm primarily a Guitarist, I'm Blessed enough to play Keys, Bass and had the wonderful experience of touring Europe back in the mid 90's as a Drummer, which I'm quite competent enough to do...but I ain't no Alex!!! Alex has got to be the most UNDERRATED and LEAST SPOKEN ABOUT DRUMMER in Modern Rock and Hard Rock History!! Give credit where credit is due and give Alex ALL THE LOVE AND RESPECT he's long overdue and HIGHLY DESERVES!!
@@buzz2none ooops..... I was thinking about how long ago That Metal Show with Eddie Trunk hosting , was on with Sammy and Michael Anthony were on. Sammy was upset neither Eddie nor Alex called him for his 70th Birthday. I was thinking 4 or 5 years!!! MY BAD!!
I really like this version of VH. I wish they would do more of this. Sammy's song writing is stellar. The entire band was growing during the 9 years they were together.
Agreed. As much as I like the hit songs from the DLR era this line-up came off as tighter and more professional. I see Diamond Dave as having outgrown this band and Sammy Hagar raising them up again and to a higher level. And, today ... well, nothing lasts forever.
Wow, I remember see this tour when they performed in Rochester NY ! Takes me back. Sammy asking about Rochester things - Abbotts , Garbage Plates and going to Lake Ontario; he had stayed some summers here and knew the goings on....Memories come back. RIP EDDIE!
@@Joesfosterdogs yeah agreed! Pretty sure this was the era that the brothers had separate dressing rooms, separate cars etc: and the lack of energy and excitement stood out like a sore thumb on stage
By 1995, MTV had lost its MOJO. Eddie was a transitional force in music. He turned the conventional thinking of lead guitar on its head. Every hair metal band of the late 80’s, owe all of their success to Eddie. RIP brother!
"World tour" didn't bother to tour Australia until the VH3 album which was lacklustre at best, although I did meet Eddie, Alex and Gary on Chapel St. Melbourne. Eddie was so gracious and humble and friendly, we talked for ages about music and life and had a great laugh that the Hagar and DLR show were touring here at the same time. Apparently the reason that VH never toured here was that DLR liked to holiday in Australia and didn't want it to feel like work. Anyway, a week later, I'd met them, they had the meet and greet at what was then the the Aussie version of Hard Rock Cafe, all three remembered me and acted like we were old friends and people in the queue though I was some sort of important person (that got me laid big time!!) So, thanks fellas hehehe VH with either Hagar or DLR was and is the best version of Van Halen. Can you even imagine a world without VH? Nope, didn't think so!
Satch did a beautiful job. He’s really diving in & soaking up the feel & rhythm, as well as interactions with everyone else. That outro was from the heart, & VH inspired.
@@JDCUSA I was of course talking about the band's public persona. But I think it's pretty cool that somebody is reading my comment 8 years later, haha.
Balance is such a strong album...it has some really mature musicianship and lyrics. Hard to believe everything fell apart so quickly after its release.
This was around the time their long time manger died and was replaced. After that, things turn to shit with the new one and his visions for the band. I guarantee if he their manger didn't die, they would have been still together as this line up. DLR no longer has the chops and this was the last hit album they had since Sammy left. They had 4 number 1 albums with him and just like that, it was over.
@@larsonwells2656 What are you babbling about? I much prefer the DLR years ,but "mature" is the last word I'd use to describe that era. I'm just saying that Eddie started branching out more musically during the Sammy years. I didn't say it was better than the DLR era.
Pretty cool when dreams starts sammy says "this goes out to the Blue Angels" when this was in 95. Didn't realize how old they are this song was. Every time I watched the Blue Angels when I was younger that song would play.
Back in the day there just wasn't a band that had such a versatile of sound, coolness and confidence. And Sammy is always genuinely interactive with the crowd. Still is to this day.
@onyourmarkphoto “Back in the day” like you have one foot in the grave. I hate it when people use that phrase. “Back in the day.” It’s so boring and cliched. “Back in the day.” That sounds like something appropriate for the 1920s instead of the 1980s. STOP SAYING “BACK IN THE DAY!”
If anyone who doesn't know but wants to know what someone who's been up for 10 nights straight coked out of their minds looks like, the guy who introduces John Stewart before the show starts is an exemplary example! Love you Eddie RIP!
@@nickgodfrey1148 Sammy is a different era Van Halen. He did take them in a different direction people always wanna argue nonsense obviously Eddie and Alex liked him and were happy to move on.
I'm old enough to remember Van Roth and Van Hagar. I like and appreciate both Era's of Van Halen. We are truly all entitled to our preferred Van Halen & for me Sammy Hagar as the lead singer brought such a more enjoyable sound for my ears.
They were sooooo much better live with Sammy. I've seen them many times with both singers, Gary did his best, and Sammy did much more for the reproduction of the music than Dave did. He was more of an entertainer than a singer.
Totally agree. Sammy made the bad best with his vocals and killer song writing, the Dave era was best for Eddie's guitar riffs. Both awesome in their own way
..I agree completely, for me too..debut album came out when I was 13 years old...1984 came out when I was 18, year I graduated high school...5150 came out when I was 20...Balance came out when I was 29..SO..Van Halen with Dave was the Van Halen of my teenage years and high school...Van Halen with Sammy was the Van Halen of my young adulthood... I like them both, but I must say, I like the Van Halen of my young adulthood best..BTW, I like the "Van Roth" and "Van Hagar" monikers...I personally use "Van Halen Mk. I" and "Van Halen Mk. II"...I guess Gary Cherone would be "Van Halen Mk. III"....
I caught 2 shows on this tour April 1995 at the Palace of Auburn Hills , MI and Summer 1995 Pine Knob Music Theatre Clarkston MI 10 miles from there. Great Shows RIP Eddie
Balance came out right when I turned 21. It was the soundtrack to my triumphs and disasters during that time and is a true snapshot of my early 20s. It's one of my fav VH albums.

God may be Omnipotent with everything else, but when Eddie got to heaven and played his first solo up there, everyone was blown away. They glanced at God and God shrugged his shoulders and said: "Don't look at me! Bruh, that playing isn't a ME-given ability". Later on after the show, God asked Eddie for lessons
WOW! This reminds me why I started listening to Van Halen to begin with. David or Sammy: it's still one of the greatest bands EVER! It is up there alongside with Led Zeppelin, the Stones, The Who, the Beatles, Sex Pistols (!), and all the other great rock and roll bands. They made our lives so much better. I don’t think they ever had a truly bad show where they sounded bad. Eddie’s playing even when he wasn’t feeling good was always phenomenal sound was on point. And today’s great Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, they realize just how hard it is to have the touch the feel that Eddy had. there will never ever be another one like Eddie Van Halen! I hope this music goes on as I know it will forever he was a maestro, and the whole band was truly phenomenal

I actually remember when MTV was predominantly just music videos. A few commercials here and there but mostly music. Now it's just politically correct leftist bullshit that no one gives a damn about. Perhaps a new name is in order. PCLBTV maybe?
And destroyed his favorite guitar on the last show of the reunion..and Peavy left him. After he cleaned up Fender took over. Mikey was using a Peavy rig in the circle. In the 70s and 80s Peavy sucked. I owned about 5 CS800s and CS300 and took them to Jamaica with me. Them damn things ran all night in that fluctuating 90v 50hz current. My QS1000s and all my QS shit had to be run by 60hz 120v generators. Peavy stuck it out. I had an 8 channel Peavy sound board that was as big as a house with gain knobs as big as grapefruit.🙂
@@bigbadbamboo1Yeah, what happened with him and Peavey? I own a '02 Wolfgang, have it now for 19 years. One of the best guitars I own. Still running strong 💪.
I’ve never was able to see the band with Eddie and Sammy or with David lee Roth. But what an incredible band the one thing I really love is how Eddie doesn’t act like a jerk he seems so humble and I guess that’s because when your the best at doing what you do you don’t have to act like you are. I don’t play guitar but I can relate to the talent that this band has. I’ve been playing drums for 50yrs and this band is so amazing and incredible talent they all are such awesome musicians. Love the video. Very cool. I’m so glad I stumbled upon it going through RUclips. The world has lost a guitarist that will never be forgotten or play like Eddie. Thanks again R.I.P. Don't overlook Michael Anthony's backing vocals to the overall classic VH sound. Without him - and even with Dave back and Eddie - they just didn't sound the same anymore.
Finally someone who I can agree with :) He looks the coolest guy though... But Wolfgang both plays and sings as good (or even better) as him, me thinks.
Michael is great! To play alongside the Van Halen bros. All those years. Yes the vocals are a big contribution obviously. This is all old news. Oh yeah Eddie is also right in there doing backups. So just deal with it oblivious people. Yeah! And rock and roll

Beautiful comment. :)
I'm believing Eddys with his Creator , the one who gave him that incredible gift.
Alex was a ordained minister, and They both went to church together. Who knows?.I know one thing.when I get to heaven, Ill be looking for him ,😇💕💕
Me too fellow rocker, he was the shit.
JC sported long hair too, hehe
Thank God for all of this footage. Balance was the first Hagar era CD I bought, but love all of VH. Always will. R. I. P. Eddie.
Rest in power Mr. Eddie Van Halen I love you. I had the opportunity to see Van Halen live #2004, the best concert of my life. It was something epic.
2004??? Nope...I saw them in 1980, 1982 & 1983...those were killer concerts.
2023 and this band STILL gives me goosebumps..." Nothing's Missing❤"
Me to
Again van Halen music always took me spirit higher and positive like a angel 😇 watching over this earth 🌎 1st album was proof for my experience and existence
They love us Van Halen is family no way out I'm from Fresno California alliance they are great
I know a lot of folks dont like Balance but i really dug that album and the songs they chose to do live were done really well.
Balance was a solid album, though the band members weren't playing nice in the sand pile.
I LOVE Balance. I hope they play a lot of Balance on the tribute tour next year.
I LOVE Balance. It's easily my favorite from the Van Hagar era.
Period.
Lots of people love it!
Sold 3 million copies...same as Carnal Knowledge!
@William Sheppard Have to include Stevie Ray Vaughn in there too...that guy was amazing! RIP.
He doesn't need a rythm guitar to keep the song going.
SRV and Mark Knopfler have always been my top two favorite, but I totally agree only Eddie sounds like Eddie. Eddie's guitar sound is so easy to identify. You'd have to be a compete airhead not to know he was playing after his first three notes
SRV and Dimebag have entered the chat.
Man EVH has, hands down, the greatest guitar tones. His rhythm creations are simply extraordinary. He's a Guitar hero to so many players, me included.
What a great sound and live performance. Haters can say what they want, Van Halen with Sammy was fantastic. All 4 albums and tours.
I was able to see the original lineup; but when Sammy came on board. That was the ticket- that lineup had magic.
I saw Van Halen with Sammy Hagar 4x.
Yep!

Hagar always was the superior singer and overall musician.
awsome VH performance, they dont always hit on all cylinders. But still RULE !
Man I just love rock music, haven't seen much Van Halen live footage. This concert just solidified my belief that live loud music has got to be the absolute best thing in the whole world.
Let's not forget about the time when Alice Cooper had Eddie Van Halen sake him to ask Glen Campbell for finger speed lessons.

this is an excellent filmed concert. great angles. great cuts. great crowd shots. all concerts should be filmed like this.
Incredible. While most young guys and gals were out with their friends on the weekends, Eddie spent his time mastering the guitar.
it was a good idea
and lots of alcohol and drugs
He did that while young and then partied like hell
I am talking to the mountain , right now The best sound I will ever hear
Van Halen forever
Man, I remember when their first album came out. They literally just blew our minds. A whole new meaning to the words Rock and Roll!!
Absolutely my favorite line up and not one cell phone in the air, I just love it!!
I love the music. But it’s pretty pedestrian compared to the earlier stuff.
Probably because there was none or too expensive at the time 🙄
Spot on bro, Those were the best days!
Too bad Sammy sings it so poorly at this show.
My heros! All I can say.
Corny love song. Typical Sammy stuff. Good riff though
@@GeorgeZimmermen maybe corny to you but how many arenas do u fill and how many hit songs have u written? 😂
I remember when Eddie cut his hair for this album/tour, thinking how old he looked.... and I'm looking at him now, older than he was in this video, and I can't believe how much like a kid he looks here. This was fun. Thanks for posting.
His and Al's dad died when he cut his hair .

How true what you said I saw the 5150 tour and also saw him in Montrose put on a killer show
I'm gonna flip this.
Don't forget shiz again
Eddie says: Crank it up!! One of his best quotes was: "You can't just play the sounds and tones.. You have to feel them "PHYSICALLY" also"...Still mourning you my friend. ⚡🎸
Not only be the best guitarist, but when it's time to play the guitar solo, smile and not only give musical notes, but also transmit joy! There wasn't a man who enjoyed a solo more than EVH!
I saw this tour in Dayton Ohio in 95. Little did we all know it would be the end of the Mike and Sammy era. They were at their best with this line-up in my opinion.
that's why I felt Halen brothers were so cool here somehow 😢
Michael Anthony solid bass, unapreciate as one of the best rock bassist ever.
It burns my dick, that Eddie talked so much BULLSHIT about Mike's playing. He CLEARLY is a VERY skilled player!
The real unsung hero, selfless enough to play straight basslines... Which is one reason why the band is amazing (kinda like ACDC)
My favorite part is how you can like both Hagar and Roth in Van Halen
I feel like many fans of Eddie see and hear the tapping, the lightning fast solos and melodies, but what blows me away is his ability to effortlessly juggle playing both lead and rhythm guitar at the same time
Oh yes! that is what hardcore fans of evh love the most.
“Balance” is so underrated. Alex’s drums and Eddie’s guitar sound was ridiculously awesome on that album
Absolutely this is the album that made me love VH still my favorite
They all sounded great thanks to Bruce Fairburn. Ed's guitar way too processed, nevertheless sounded polished. Great album though
@P S I am partial. That album came out when I was 15 just learning guitar. I was blown away by Eddie’s guitar sound on that record
I think it's hands down their best album. #controversialopinion
The king is gone but he's not forgotten.
He'll never be!!!!!!
Elvis??
Michael Jackson, King of Pop?
Alex's drumming is so underated. Probably because he's overshadowed by his brothers guitar playing. They are both great. Gotta get Mike back in the band too.
Who Elvis?
Michael Anthony HAS to be thee GREATEST rock backing vocalist EVER!!!
Ever seen him with Chickenfoot? He rocks!
I Iz GOT THAT 110% FUCKIN A RIGHT DUDE!!!

According to Eddie, his voice is like a piccolo flute.....
@@judithmagill1449 chicken feet were useless never had a good song.
I think balance is the most underrated album of all time. Lots of instrumental be the guitar guru EVH but some of the most poIlifetic lyrics by Sammy; Feelings, Seventh Seal & Don't Tell Me are untouchable by any other singer.
Man.. it says a lot about a guitarist who can still shred and put on a show while going through what he went through during this time…mind blowing
Oh my heart hurts watching this💔💔 I miss these guys so so much .....

Eddie's guitar tone is so articulate and detailed! Those Peavey 5150's are the best sounding after his original Marshall plexi's in my opinion. Thanks for posting.
Andrew Zendejas those Peavey’s sound amazing
Yup they are beastly. As long as you don't need a great clean channel they are hard to beat for distorted guitar.
@@brianjstarkable yes totally agree and recall that as well with the SLO.

ALEX IS THE BEST DRUMMER OF ALL TIMES! He and Eddie devoted their lives to what we hear in this, THE BEST ROCK GROUP EVER! My personal favorite EVER. The lyrics are brilliant.

MY BAD!!
I really like this version of VH. I wish they would do more of this. Sammy's song writing is stellar. The entire band was growing during the 9 years they were together.
too bad bad management had to ruin it for every one in the band.
Actually, they were together for 11 years.
Agreed. As much as I like the hit songs from the DLR era this line-up came off as tighter and more professional. I see Diamond Dave as having outgrown this band and Sammy Hagar raising them up again and to a higher level. And, today ... well, nothing lasts forever.
Dave put them on the map in the disco era.

Didn’t realize this was on RUclips. I was at that concert in Pensacola.

Even with my weak attention span I can not help but go into a state of hypnotism from Alex' drum solo.
They sound SO GOOD and look like they are having a great time. I saw this tour and it was awesome.

Anyway, a week later, I'd met them, they had the meet and greet at what was then the the Aussie version of Hard Rock Cafe, all three remembered me and acted like we were old friends and people in the queue though I was some sort of important person (that got me laid big time!!) So, thanks fellas hehehe
VH with either Hagar or DLR was and is the best version of Van Halen. Can you even imagine a world without VH? Nope, didn't think so!

I much prefer the DLR years ,but "mature" is the last word I'd use to describe that era. I'm just saying that Eddie started branching out more musically during the Sammy years. I didn't say it was better than the DLR era.

“Back in the day” like you have one foot in the grave. I hate it when people use that phrase. “Back in the day.” It’s so boring and cliched. “Back in the day.” That sounds like something appropriate for the 1920s instead of the 1980s. STOP SAYING “BACK IN THE DAY!”

Both awesome in their own way
I’m with you on Van Hagar. His voice with the Eddie guitar is awesome
..I agree completely, for me too..debut album came out when I was 13 years old...1984 came out when I was 18, year I graduated high school...5150 came out when I was 20...Balance came out when I was 29..SO..Van Halen with Dave was the Van Halen of my teenage years and high school...Van Halen with Sammy was the Van Halen of my young adulthood... @Trenner SherryThat's absolute Sherry.... That's is where Sammy first got his handle "The Red Rocker" correct you are young lady......
Eddie I'll never forget seeing you in may 1983 at US Festival your gone now but not forgotten brother, tell Stevie Ray we all said hi please.!!!!!
They gave us better parties, hotter girlfriends, got us more drunk and sometimes: - to reflect and be inspired by. An era gone by, but the music and recordings remains. The inspiration too! "COME ON EVERYBODY!" 💥🤟❤

Alex's drumming is so underated. Probably because he's overshadowed by his brothers guitar playing. They are both great. Gotta get Mike back in the band too.
Very underrated!
When your brother is Eddie it would be difficult to come out of his shadow..
I love Alex for not giving a rats ass! Gotta be a very cool guy to talk 2!
Not really. Alex is highly acclaimed in drummer community
Wow, I remember this...this was back in the day when MTV was actually about music!
I actually remember when MTV was predominantly just music videos. A few commercials here and there but mostly music. Now it's just politically correct leftist bullshit that no one gives a damn about. Perhaps a new name is in order. PCLBTV maybe?
I can't believe Sammy was 48-years old at this time!! Dude looks 30!!
He's nose looks fifty
He’s in his early 70’s now and still doesn’t look his age!
HE'S 73 NOW AND LOOKS 60!
He still looks 48.must be the cabo wabo
The Balance album is just awesome. How Eddie reinvented his tone so superbly with the Musicman and Peavey 5150 is incredible.
R, I. P. Edward Van Halen. Best guitar player ever. I miss U Brother...
Eddie and God Bless.
Their last great album, and a good one it was! The recording quality of it was one of the best too.
Don't overlook Michael Anthony's backing vocals to the overall classic VH sound. Without him - and even with Dave back and Eddie - they just didn't sound the same anymore.
He's good, but overrated by many sentimental fans. I really like him, after all, he's still with Sammy. However, he's not THAT great.
Finally someone who I can agree with :)
He looks the coolest guy though...
But Wolfgang both plays and sings as good (or even better) as him, me thinks.
If you think Wolfgang hits the high harmony anywhere near as good as Michael you have no clue what harmony actually is!
I agree. Mikey's voice is just that sound. That's why they still got it with Sammy too. I'm a Sammy fan over Roth any day.
Michael is great! To play alongside the Van Halen bros. All those years. Yes the vocals are a big contribution obviously. This is all old news. Oh yeah Eddie is also right in there doing backups. So just deal with it oblivious people. Yeah! And rock and roll
No time coded song list? Oh hell, I'll watch the whole thing then. :D
I'm glad this show came up. I'm watching this in 2024 and this concert was from 1995. Sammy was great during and post VH. Also Eddie left us too soon. R I P to the greatest guitarist.
This is shockingly amazing and almost perfect, sounds almost exactly like the record, amazing performance.
Is that what you look for in a concert? To have it sound like the record?
Settle
R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen. The Greatest Guitarist to ever walk the earth.
He SOARED!
Absolutely no exaggeration here

@Mike Downs wow...you typed all that with no commas, not one period or nuthin!
Alex is a powerful and outstanding drummer,he never fucked up.
I agree. He's awesome. My mentor.
+Hayley Coughton you are 100% right
Yes, one of my favorite rock drummers, so effortless and smooth.
Always THE most consistent guy in that band and such an integral part of their sound. Can't deny the "brown" snare....
Always tried to figure out how Alex is viewed by his drumming peers....
My favorite VH, with Sammy. RIP Eddie Van Halen!
