Exactly. I was a fan from the first time I heard "Working Man" in 70something. But as the years went on and I see the whole picture of what Rush created and achieved I am perpetually more awestruck. Their music was truly a timeless gift.
I'm from Toronto and was at this show at Maple Leaf Gardens, Fri Sep 21, 1984. I still remember it vividly. I was 16 yrs old, still have the ticket stub....also snuck in a camera and took some photos. The opening act was Red Rider. We were so proud of Rush as fellow Torontonians.
@@Mar.T.365 Geddy's "stick" bass wasn't a pretty thing either. His Rickenbacker and then Fender Jazz looked more proper! I believe this tour was when they brought out the green laser effect for the first time. They used it a lot, probably to get their money's worth out of an expensive piece of equipment. But when you close your eyes and just listen :-)
I know it has been so long ago, but do you recall if they played Subdivisions and also if Neil did a solo? Curiously, those are missing from this concert film and was never sure why that was...I hoped that when it came out on DVD they'd include those since maybe they were omitted from the tape and original broadcast (which I think was on HBO at the time) due to time limitations or something, but that turned out to not happen.
Same. In 1979 I had the great idea of buying Hemispheres. It blew my mind in million pieces. I dedicated a song in the 4th record called Estado SA (in spanish, State SA, a protest song against tax pay for politicians and bankers to fill their pockets). There are several tributes to them in it: the Prolog, same as Hemispheres + Xanadu. The sang part, Free Will (the voice sings the bass melody). The end, Jacob's ladder. They filled my soul for so long .... but I deny the idea of them not playing any more, so I refuse to listen Clockwork Angel. I cannot listen the last thing. There is no such thing.
In the summer of 1987 my best friend in High School introduced me to RUSH by showing me this video. It was the first time I had ever heard of RUSH or even seen them. The 1990 Presto tour at Alpine Theater was my first RUSH concert. Since then I have seen them multiple times on every tour until 2015. Thank you Tom for introducing them to me and thank you Rush for helping me through the hard times and the good to make me the person I am today.
I got into them in 1987 myself. I bought Hold Your Fire totally without hearing a song from it. I was heavily into Yes at the time and just thought, Rush? They’re supposed to be like Yes, aren’t they? Well I put it on when I got home and couldn’t believe the musicianship and those lyrics. When Presto came out next, that became the catalyst that made me a full on Rush head where I eventually got the whole back catalog. Like you, the Presto tour was the first time I saw them and it was at the old Spectrum in Philly. I saw them at least once on every tour after. Man do I miss them coming out with the new album and the tour that would follow. It was a way of life for so long with me and for so many others.
I absolutely love that they are just as tight live as they are in their albums. They get alot of shit for their late 80s and 90s albums but they are masterpieces in their own right. Power Windows has a phenomenal sound, Roll the Bones has a great sound, Counterparts has one of their best instrumental songs and even Vapor Trails is a very great comeback. This band doesn’t have any dull moments. The prog epics are beyond words and keep even the most ADHD ridden fans like myself interested in songs like 2112 and the Cygnus books, the more popular songs like Tom Saywer and Subdivisions and Spirit of Radio are complex and have very intricate lyrics and instrumentation. Long live Rush! I’m 15 and I’m lucky to be able to listen to their music.
Awesome! I saw them for the 1st time when i was your age in the mid 80's, too many times to count up through their last show in Philly 2015. The only band i traveled to other venues to see. RUSH for life!
Power Windows was the epitome of Rush evolving into the 80's. Every track strong. Incredible leads. Bad decision excluding keys from last few album's, would have been much stronger. Love the early stuff. All the worlds a stage was my 1st Rush album. Power Windows, Hold Your Fire era was incredible. The full maturing of the band.
We were all so young and full of life! It’s hard to think of all these Gods of Rock like us are all retired and we will never see there power and talent again! Thanks heaven for the means to have recorded them to listen now and amaze at their incredible talents Spirit of the Band Rush on the airwaves !!!!!
Yes the 3 songs make up the "Fear" trilogy. Spanning the albums, Moving Pictures, Signals, an Grace Under Pressure. My favorite Rush era as well. They left everyone in the dust!
I can still remember the very day I heard my first ever Rush song, and it was The Spirit of Radio. My cousin put the Permanent Waves tape in the deck and I insisted we listen to the whole album after hearing the opening track's intro. What a band...
Absolutely mind blowing to hear the Grace Under Pressure material being played and sounding exactly the same note for note as the studio album, a true testament to what an amazing band Rush really were. No miming, no lip synching or autotuning, just good old fashioned god gifted talent and tight musicianship
This is still the best thing to happen at Maple Leaf Gardens. We will never know another Rush. 3 men who didn’t sell out to the system and, maintained their dignity. Incredible to think of in the world we live in. RIP Professor. You are THE best. 🇨🇦🙏
I’m a big Rush fan as well. I’m truly surprised at 2 things they did as a band. 1. Release such a horrible distorted mix on “Vapor Trails” and it took them years to remix it and 2. they did the R40 tour. By the time they did that tour Geddy’s voice was shot. I still love the band but after the “Clockwork Angels” tour that should have been it. Actually “Snakes and Arrows” was the last tour that I thought Geddy’s voice sounded good but that’s just my opinion.
I love RUSH more and more the older I get. I’m 45, so I discovered them later than most of the die-hard fans but f*ck, I get it now and I’m in love! Thank you so much for taking me on this ride. I never want to leave. Long live RUSH! 👏🥁🎤🎸♥️
I loved them starting at a young age, I was too young for this concert when it was passing through, but I got to see them on Roll the Bones, Counter Parts, Test for Echo, Vapor Trails, Snakes and Arrows, and Time Machine tours.
This was the first concert I ever saw as a kid. I didn't see it live, my dad had it on LD. I watched it every single day for almost 4 years. RUSH will always be my favorite band of all time. I know every last quirk and nuance of this recording and concert. I love it, so so so much. Thank you for posting.
Ahhh.. LazerDisc..I'm getting whimsey.. It was the creme de la creme of the first home video disc player.. My friends and I couldn't afford LazerDisc. Good ol' VHS.. Got to see Rush at Red Rocks.
Wow! I still have that laserdisc! It is a great show. I was fortunate to see Rush live with a close friend at Frankfurt's Festhalle. Wonderful time. I "discovered" Rush from when Moving Pictures came out. ALMOST saw that show live, also in Germany. Duty called and well, I didn't get to go. The Grace Under Pressure show was my first Rush concert. Great memories. Thanks, Joseph, for posting! Be well.
Red Sector A will always get me. It's so suffocating and dark and terrifying, yet filled with the primal urge to live against the greatest odds and suffering. And the song is made deeper by knowing it was inspired by Geddy's parents' experiences in the concentration camps in World War II. It's really one of their best moments.
Nothing quite like soaking in your favorite bands music when they were young and powerful. They weren't even at their peak yet! These videos are a gift that keep on giving!
And it continued to be up until their last show. When you heard these songs live it was godly. I saw them twice in Boston and the second and final time was still to this day the greatest show I’ve ever seen.
@@britneyschweigert9555 umm did you go to any concerts in the 80’s? Rush, Genesis, Scorpions, Jethro Tull, Yes, Grateful Dead… it wasn’t the dark ages - it was incredible
I attended all 3 nights at Maple Leaf Gardens ( I have been to 51 shows in total). Unfortunately a couple of songs are cut out of the final, but by the magic of video editing, I am in this twice. Different nights. Once wearing a Signals t-shirt and with a home made "we have assumed control" on back of shirt with starman logo on front. This was a tremendous concert and thanks for posting a wonderful life long memory. RIP. NEP and thanks Rush for the soundtrack of my life!
Hailing from So. Cal. in the 70s and 80s where their tours started and ended, I got to see these guys 19 times. Became a Rush fans in "75, I remember recording each album to reel to reel tape, and putting all the lyrics to paper and tacking them, along with their albums, to the wall in my room. 📀📀🎸🥁🎸📀📀 COOL!😎
What's so impressive about Rush's live concerts is how perfect they were in reproducing every note and beat from their albums without error. I'm sure they would say they made mistakes but I couldn't hear it and I'm an avid musician and Rush fan.
I'd rather hear more emprov and more mistakes. When it's done to perfection, that's when I suspect something is fake. These guys would never do that of course but I like LIVE performances that both match AND deviate from the original songs
@@supercommando440I don’t think they do match tbh. But, like you, I don’t necessarily have an expectation that they should. I view live as it’s own thing and I can appreciate both. One of the most closely matched bands between studio and live I’ve seen recently is The Warning. Their music is way less complex than Rush's of course, but it’s still impressive that they are able to do it. However, they are siblings who started as a band from tweens and early teens, so they’ve honed it. Though even early on they were tight, just less polished obviously.
holy crap I haven't listened to this in years and it has aged so well. With headphones this is just quintessential 80's RUSH through and through. Awesome.
I think on this one you can hear the full lifeson experience There’s lots of videos where they mix in a different version with less effects. There’s a RUclips vid where you can hear everything coming from his speakers and that’s is an epic sound
Ya...I was 15 when I saw this concert. They had me at Signals, but I'm telling you, I'd heard Witch Hunt 1,000 times and NEVER knew what it really meant. I had zero clue, just that it was fucking great. After that video played, I stood there listening to that song...the light turned right on. Thanks guys for putting this song into my life.
80s Rush is my fav era -amazing guitar solos, crazy bass lines, catchy songs - and the vocals! 90s Rush and beyond was a bit too muddled -with a few exceptions. 70s Rush is great too. My fav band - saw them about 7-8 times including the last tour.
What a load of crap!!!!! RUSH are one of the worst Bands I've ever heard. RUSH fans think that only RUSH fans are going to read the comments on You Tube. How wrong you are because I'm always monitoring. There are only a few Bands I despise with vitriol and RUSH are one of them. The music I'm into is a trillion times better than RUSH.
That would be The Who followed by Queen. As much as I love Rush, they weren't really in the same league as a live band as Daltrey/Townshend/Entwistle/Moon or Mercury/May/Deacon/Taylor.
Suit jackets over t-shirts with poofy pants. Alex’ white suit jacket with multi-coloured pants. Mullets. Mullet with ponytail. Steinberger bass. Ahh the 80’s! Awesome concert! So grateful this is preserved!! Awesome they included count Floyd’s 3D house of “the weapon”
I can't believe I found this again! My brother gave me the VHS tape for my birthday in 1987 and I never saw it again after I moved in 1990. In my opinion this is Rush at their absolute best. They were young, energetic and truly amazing.
Thanks for sharing, 64yr Canadian man grew up on Rush, they are my favourite all time band and in my opinion Geddy, Alex and Neil are the best ever in their instruments, if they’re not your thing they are probably your favourite bands band 🇨🇦😎🇨🇦
The Enemy Within. This is Rush in all their glory. Such a powerful performance! All so amazing. Neil is like a human drum machine, like a swiss clock, but living!
I'm from Brazil...and I keep thinking about the critics who insist that Rush bothered to make songs to play on the radio...Rush never sold out to the system. His creativity and artistic development has always been spontaneous. Everyone who says that has never picked up an instrument 😝
I was there, Maple Leaf Gardens, in the gold seats off to the right of the stage. My friends dad had got us tickets had a corporate membership. Anyway, was a great night. BTW, enjoyed the clockwork angels tour in Hamilton more, they just kept getting better with age!
I have been fortunate enough to see this band 10 times, they have been a part of my life since I saw them open for Kiss in December of 1975. I still get goosebumps listening and watching this.
I'm sorry to hear that your life is so hollow. The saving grace here is that you saw a great Band like KISS. I hope they played DETROIT ROCK CITY, just before it was released in 1976. RUSH are terrible.
You're really lucky to have seen them 10 times! I sadly missed them, I became a fan at the time when they were doing their last tour and I'm from Europe, so I had no chance to see them. At least there are many live recordings like this to get an impression of how it was like. Amazing band!
I'm not sure if I was there, I saw Kiss (not sure why, but I was still in junior high) and later saw Rush, perhaps in 80-81, on a Brief Tour of Some of the Hemispheres, while they were working on Permanent Waves. Once I realized what they were saying and playing, well, it changed everything.
@@alanstrom2221 I saw Kiss back in junior high, it would have been 75-76. It was cool, but I was way up front, and as a young bass player, even I could tell that they kind of sucked as musicians. Not long after I saw Rush, it was like night and day: the difference in musicianship, songwriting, composition, technique, precision and lyrics. Once I got into high school, and realized that there was more to life than getting drunk in the woods and self-aggrandizement (you can look it up) I left Kiss behind and grew up. Rush was the type of band that progressed through the years and we grew together. That's one of the keys to their success. Some bands stay 18 years old forever, as do their fans; both becoming irrelevant before too long.
It's great to see the Fear trilogy played live. Thanks for this and thanks to Rush for all of the great music over the years. What an amazing legacy they have left for us.
You will never see more air drumming than at a Rush concert. It's hilarious because not one of them would have any hope of actually pulling it off in real life. All good fun though. Thanks for posting this!
I think you might be surprised at the amount of people in any Rush audience that would be able to knock off large chunks of those tunes- musicians liking Rush is pretty much the core of the audience. At any show, you could probably assemble 5 to 10 pretty good Rush cover bands.
Once broadcast in Los Angeles in 1987, KTTV-TV Channel 11, my father recorded this on VHS and I watched it the next day. It was one of the most breathtaking live musical performances I had Ever seen. I ended up idolizing Alex Lifeson and wanted to play like him for Years. By 19, I finally figured out how to approximate Spirit of the Radio and even did a light cover of it when I was 25 with a drummer friend (who came REAL close to Peart's technique, he was pretty good). How blessed were we all to be alive during what may very well likely be the greatest era in the history of recorded music. I was very thankful to had made it to a few RUSH shows starting 2002 at Staples Center while we still had Peart with us... They still had it. YYZ sounded better than ever. Spirit of the Radio sounded better than ever. Just when you thought they were already the best, they got even better. I can rarely say that about any other band.
Fourth song and I am completely asleep good grief this album. This whole thing is horrid so many people here are saying what a wonderful concert. This was good grief guys it’s terrible.
My first Rush concert, Cow palace San Francisco! I was 15 it was one of the best nights of my life amazing show. RIP Neil, you keep the beat of are hearts.
Controlling Interests manipulated throughout the generations, supply meets demand, where they began and where you end. MIND CONTROL JUSTICE NOT FOR SALE.
Me and my friend hotboxed my garage and watched the video of this concert genuinely the best live show I have ever witnessed and I wasn’t even there nor alive to see it! Incredible that they can play their songs with note for note precision as if it was the track with the beef of live sound our jaws were on the floor. Rush forever!!!
Cool! My last car tag said SQU0NK! I debated between that and ABACAB. Thank God I didn't choose ABACAB. My son told me about ACAB (All Cops Are B@st@rds). Although I agree, for the most part, I'd never want to sacrifice myself that way. SQU0NK got me pulled over enough. I got rid of it and haven't been pulled aside since then.
Just like David Gilmour said about The Beatles, "They weren't a band, they were a miracle!" in regards to Rush. ESPECIALLY LIVE. Hail Canada from Arizona forever!!
I saw this concert Oct. 30, 1984 in Nashville, TN at Municipal Auditorium. I remember as if it was this morning! Any others out there who were there? I had bruises under my arms for a week being mashed up on the security wall under Geddy!!!
Imagine how I felt guys. 1984, I was 16 from a small town, way before internet, we had no VCR, there weren’t any pumpin’ car stereos around yet, the biggest indoor building I’d been in at that point was the high school gym. I was a huge Rush fan. My dad brought 4 of my buds and me to our very first concert experience ever. It was the “Texas Jam” at the Astrodome in Houston Texas. The line-up was Gary Moore, Bryan Adams, Ozzy Osbourne, 38 Special and Rush. 10 hours of rock with the finale being my favorite thing in the world…the band Rush. I’d never seen or heard anything remotely like that! I didn’t even know a kick drum could go through you like that! This video makes it feel like it was yesterday! Thanks!!
I was there for this tour !!! One of the best !!! Seen at the classic “The Spectrum” in Philly. Nothing like Rock n Roll RUSH style !!! “Of salesman” !!!! RIP Neil Peart !!!! TopJimmy
There was so much different music in front of us in 1984 on a daily basis, it was an amazing time. Rush being some of the best of that, it was more a part of our culture than it is now. And dare I say it....Phil Collins was more so a part of daily culture than anyone. Just amazing, and I've never seen this concert by Rush.
Yea great, we had some awesome epic tunes. I graduated in 1984. What a time to live , free with no cares in the world, crusin every night with Rush tunes plus many more great ones busting thru the jenson speakers. Wow I wish I had a time machine so I could go back to 80 to 85. Such a awesome time. I feel bad for our youth today . They don’t have anything but crap to listen to unless Someone could get them to listen to government mule ( love warren ) or Kenny Wayne and Noah. Artimus Pyle band is really good. I guess there is a handful. I introduced my son to classic rock , real music and musician’s, he loves it. RUSH DEFINITELY BRINGS IT !!!🤟🤟🤟 We love em plus many other classic rock bands ! 💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜 💙💜💙💜💙💜🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟 RIP NEIL, much love❤🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
You never lose the music that got you thru high school. First time was Moving Pictures. This one after I was out. Thought Geddy was selling out with that "paddle bass" and the looks of the 80s. He brought Rickenbacker popularity to new levels. Pretty sure they played Red Barchetta at the Providence show.
I think he switched to the Steinbergers because his bass tech constantly pissed and moaned about having to maintain his Rics. The 'Berger is definitely by far his weakest sound and I have no idea why anyone says they like it, doesn't really sound like Geddy to me at all. He had a pretty great sound with the WAL's he switched to later, at least in the studio.
I was there that night , as a teen. Epic, it was my first time seeing RUSH and it is a fond memory, and it was recorded so I get to relive it often. I'm way in the back somewhere so you can't see me but I'm actually there in a shot.
Your extremely lucky!! Cherish that moment forver. And be thankful! Man I'm 18 years old and am a huge rush fan, I'd kill to see them live! And I wish I could have. Geddy and Alex have talked about making new music, but there probably wouldn't be a tour. But you never know, maybe just the two of them will make new music and do a tour.
The 80's was a great period in Rush history! I really miss those days!! I saw every tour since Moving Pictures and Rush always put on a fantastic concert!! Thanks for the 40 + years of incredible music!
It's funny because I started drumming after The Professor passed, because I was so impacted by it. I watched so many of his drumming videos, I started developing a desire to hit Da Skins. I grew up listening to this band in high school. That drum solo in the Working man song, is still one of my all time favorites. I'll be 60 this year, shouldn't have waited so long. Well, in any case, that's how inspiring their work is. Miss you Buddy.
Fukn A ole dog. You're one of the rare humans that have super rare insight on possibly three top 3 greatest rock bands of all time. 1 the Beatles. 2 Led Zeppelin 3 RUSH. YES SIR!!!
We called this the “Success Under Pressure” tour when my gang saw them in Nashville on this tour. Awesome show. Saw them before in 1981. Always loved Rush shows.
For me, it’s impossible to pinpoint Rush’s heyday. Every decade and era have their own pinnacle. I feel this concert is them displaying their prowess on power and speed on their classic era songs while eagerly presenting the fact that “we aren’t interested in ending our sound evolution at Moving Pictures. We have more to offer if you’ll come with us “. Long live Rush!
I didn't remember until this concert video was released on DVD in 2003 that I had seen it on TV around 1985 when I was 11. I had loved it, but it was my only exposure to Rush until I was in high school, and by then I had forgotten about it. What a delight to see this and remember that I'd been a Rush fan for longer than I realized! Geddy Lee was the reason I decided to learn to play bass in high school. Happy 70th birthday Geddy! I really love this video… I feel like Geddy is in absolute peak form with both his bass playing and vocals here.
My brother brought me to this tour on the twin cities. This seventh grader high light was seeing a college age female take her shirt off and put the glow in the dark tour shirt on... Yes, it was a great concert also.
It's so great to see that RUSH lives on in the hearts, souls, lives & minds of all the people who love RUSH. With great performances captured visually such as this fantastic concert here, they will continue to inspire us & hopefully generations to come. I believe that they will!
Two things 1. Listen to this with headphones and experience those glorious Taurus Bass pedals 2. For me this will always be the definitive performance of Distant Early Warning and Red Sector A
Yeah! You are Wright...Heard this makes me remember so many good things that are Lost in the past, that lives insiste me!! Afterimage is amazing too...
i love how much fun Alex is having. This is a time right after moving pictures where they really hit their stride and were making tons of money at this point. They really made it and it shows in this performance. They are really on top of their game. And having a blast

Agreed wholeheartedly!!!
Awesome! I saw them for the 1st time when i was your age in the mid 80's, too many times to count up through their last show in Philly 2015. The only band i traveled to other venues to see. RUSH for life!
Here's the correct answer, everything post Power Windows has some strong tunes and .. lesser ones. And a few that are totally bogus.
Roll the Bones is a gem
Rush will never be topped. The three most talented musicians ever.
I agree 💯
Absolutley
Just the Beatles.
🐐🐐🐐
We were all so young and full of life! It’s hard to think of all these Gods of Rock like us are all retired and we will never see there power and talent again! Thanks heaven for the means to have recorded them to listen now and amaze at their incredible talents Spirit of the Band Rush on the airwaves !!!!!
Not only retired, but their cornerstone is no longer with us; Neil Peart R.I.P.
My absolute favorite Rush era, this is amazing!
RUSH have ERAs just like the Dinosaurs they've always been.
StickHits channel has remastered this and Exit: Stage Left. It’s beautiful.
My 1st concert ever!! St. Louis MO
I find this to be their weakest era, to each his own
@@rblue6589I used to as well but its grown on me
The Enemy Within, followed by The Weapon, than Witch Hunt! Amazing! Never before, and never again!! Stunning that they put all three back to back
Shame no Limelight, saw them Birmingham UK this tour, incredible
The Trilogy of Fear!
Yes the 3 songs make up the "Fear" trilogy. Spanning the albums, Moving Pictures, Signals, an Grace Under Pressure. My favorite Rush era as well. They left everyone in the dust!
"And the magic music makes your morning mood". I remember in the 80's hearing The Spirit of Radio on the radio and getting goosebumps after that line.
Same here - alliteration at its best! Neil was a lyrical genius.
I remember listening to CFNY, the Toronto radio station that this song is about.
I can still remember the very day I heard my first ever Rush song, and it was The Spirit of Radio. My cousin put the Permanent Waves tape in the deck and I insisted we listen to the whole album after hearing the opening track's intro.
What a band...
That alliteration....
Wonderfully said. What are your thoughts on their last album, Clockwork Angels?
Good God thank you for allowing me to share time on this planet with these fine gentlemen.
Absolutely.
Amen Brother! Their influence is beyond measure.
I love RUSH more and more the older I get. I’m 45, so I discovered them later than most of the die-hard fans but f*ck, I get it now and I’m in love! Thank you so much for taking me on this ride. I never want to leave.
Long live RUSH! 👏🥁🎤🎸♥️
I loved them starting at a young age, I was too young for this concert when it was passing through, but I got to see them on Roll the Bones, Counter Parts, Test for Echo, Vapor Trails, Snakes and Arrows, and Time Machine tours.
cool !!!
Fuck ya Rush is like fine wine Rush always gets better in time.
My first too. The best!
Ahhh.. LazerDisc..I'm getting whimsey.. It was the creme de la creme of the first home video disc player.. My friends and I couldn't afford LazerDisc. Good ol' VHS.. Got to see Rush at Red Rocks.
Saw Rush twice and between those two shows they played most of these songs twice. They were just as good and better as they are here.
Be well.
my first as well but for the power windows tour..
These videos are a gift that keep on giving!
incredible how this was recorded in the 80s. the sound is better than any show nowdays.
...and it's only 360p!
Lol like the 80s was the dark ages of audio technology. You must be going to some really awful shows "these days".
And it continued to be up until their last show. When you heard these songs live it was godly. I saw them twice in Boston and the second and final time was still to this day the greatest show I’ve ever seen.
Totally agree! Real musicians (and super talented of course), real music, no autotune, no simulators..
I haven't been to that many only 7 shows and I was on floor no further back then row 21 I think. incredible their view when I turned around
Hailing from So. Cal. in the 70s and 80s where their tours started and ended,
I got to see these guys 19 times.
Became a Rush fans in "75, I remember recording each album to reel to reel tape, and putting all the lyrics to paper and tacking them, along with their albums, to the wall in my room.
📀📀🎸🥁🎸📀📀
COOL!😎
The magic of video. This takes us back 39 years when all was well in Rushland.
What's so impressive about Rush's live concerts is how perfect they were in reproducing every note and beat from their albums without error. I'm sure they would say they made mistakes but I couldn't hear it and I'm an avid musician and Rush fan.
Robots don't make mistakes because they are programmed.
RUSH are hollow and sterile, they lack humanity.
😎👍💯
I saw them seven times and they definitely did make mistakes but they were pretty few and far between.
I'll always regret never seeing this band play live.
Same for me.
Same
IV seen tribute bands you will love them
holy crap I haven't listened to this in years and it has aged so well. With headphones this is just quintessential 80's RUSH through and through. Awesome.
I had this maxed on my headphones the whole time.
80s Rush -the best era 'they grasped synth and new wave -combined it with pop sensibility -but retained the prog lite Rush feel and nuances
I'm 65 still rockin to this keeps my blood flowing!☮️
They call this the Rush synth period, all I can do is be impressed by Alex incredible guitar playing and tone!
I think on this one you can hear the full lifeson experience
There’s lots of videos where they mix in a different version with less effects.

THE greatest band of all time! I was lucky to go to their "Grace Under Pressure" tour in Portland, Oregon. What a concert!
The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones ?
Yes man they are better than all those bands
My 1st concert. St. Louis MO
I saw that same tour at the Texxas Jam, Dallas, Summer '84
80s Rush is my fav era -amazing guitar solos, crazy bass lines, catchy songs - and the vocals! 90s Rush and beyond was a bit too muddled -with a few exceptions. 70s Rush is great too. My fav band - saw them about 7-8 times including the last tour.
RUSH is the best live band ever
most talent per member hands down.
@@karmicselling4252 I love you man.

Suit jackets over t-shirts with poofy pants. Alex’ white suit jacket with multi-coloured pants. Mullets. Mullet with ponytail. Steinberger bass. Ahh the 80’s!
Awesome concert! So grateful this is preserved!!
Awesome they included count Floyd’s 3D house of “the weapon”
In Canada, mullets were always referred to as "Hockey Hair" in those days!
23:26 Alex multitasking masterfully, playing the Taurus pedals AND doing a lead solo at the same time.

1970 as well didn't make this tour, but made it to Power Windows tour in 85.
I'm from Brazil...and I keep thinking about the critics who insist that Rush bothered to make songs to play on the radio...Rush never sold out to the system. His creativity and artistic development has always been spontaneous. Everyone who says that has never picked up an instrument 😝
Excelente sua crítica, disse tudo! Rush nunca foi realmente uma banda pra ter músicas ticadas no rádio, eles eram únicos!!
Is that a joke? There's at least 2 songs on most of their albums that were clearly written for radio play 😂
RUSH was and always will be themselves, smoke up people
Rush is the Greatest Band Ever to me. ❤❤❤❤❤
I was there, Maple Leaf Gardens, in the gold seats off to the right of the stage. My friends dad had got us tickets had a corporate membership. Anyway, was a great night. BTW, enjoyed the clockwork angels tour in Hamilton more, they just kept getting better with age!
How this video only has 280.000 views is beyond me. And in a sense im glad . This was my life's soundtrack. Not sharing it with just anyone
@@alanstrom2221 Wow! You're really out there mate.
It is no longer a trilogy :-) Love pt IV ♫

40 Years Listening to Rush and Still Love em Just Like the first day I heard em.
You will never see more air drumming than at a Rush concert. It's hilarious because not one of them would have any hope of actually pulling it off in real life. All good fun though. Thanks for posting this!
But they all move accurately and each and every roll, crash and break is on point!!!!!!.... It's like a coreographed dance!

Hah ROCK ON!
Saw Rush from 1976-2015 and have to say this was definitely one of their best concerts ever

Thanks!!

They don’t have anything but crap to listen to unless
Someone could get them to listen to government mule ( love warren ) or Kenny Wayne and Noah. Artimus Pyle band is really good. I guess there is a handful. I introduced my son to classic rock , real music and musician’s, he loves it.

@@Sheehy223 The Steinbeger (it sounds awesome in it's own way, find one) was deployed because it was small and wouldn't get in the way of the keys.

It's funny because I started drumming after The Professor passed, because I was so impacted by it. I watched so many of his drumming videos, I started developing a desire to hit Da Skins.
Long live Rush!
saw this in Radio City Music Hall in late 83 when the grace under pressure stuff wasnt released yet. it was unbelievable.

Just wait: he moves it with his nose.
I saw this tour. My favorite Rush album too. The drum sound was stellar. Red Sector A was devastating.
Every Rush show I see confirms my conviction that Geddy Lee is the greatest bass player in the world.
