Best YouTube Camcorder? Kodak PlayTouch vs Sony Bloggie Touch

- In this video I review and compare the Kodak PlayTouch against the Sony Bloggie Touch to see which makes the best RUclips camcorder or camera.
The Kodak PlayTouch features 1080p video at 30 frame per second or 720p footage at 30 FPS and 60 FPS as well as 5 megapixel still images. It comes with a wide range of accessories including a Mini HDMI cable, RCA A/V cable, MicroUSB cable, AC adapter, lanyard, carrying pouch and battery.
The Sony Bloggie Touch also sports full 1920x1080 video at 30 FPS and 1280x720 video at 30 or 60 FPS while having a 12 megapixel still photo mode. In the box you find the camera, a female to male USB cable and a lanyard.
I go over each camcorder in detail including build quality, video quality samples, touchscreens, user interface (UI) and the menu system, autofocus, ergonomics and price.

I purchased the bloggie touch about a year ago and it hasn't failed me since. One small problem however, is the fact that the USB pop out feature broke and it won't click back into place. It isn't that big of a deal, but it certainly annoys me sometimes. I would definitely recommend the camera if you are starting vlogging.
I'm going into grad school to receive my MFA in choreography and I know I want to have a camera I can just just film on the spot for new choreographic ideas and what not. I think the bloggie is exactly what I want/need! Thanks so much for this vid it helped tremendously!

great comparison. i own the bloggie and find your review to be very accurate. I do have a question, do you find that the bloggie constantly wants to focus in and out on it's own depending on what yo are shooting. i don't mean auto focus but more like minor corrections. i think i saw it going on in the demo video you showed and that's why i asked. i find this to be very distracting when viewing the videos after shooting them and thus cause me to think twice about using it at times.

gotta have the mic input. I plug straight into my mixing board for audio. I may just go back to sd and get a minidv with xlr inputs. So many more features but the hassle of conversion. nice review.
love the comparison i was gone get a bloggie and from this comparison still feel strongly about my decision what would you recommend that is a not so expensive blog video recorder for you tube
Great choice. I'm starting to do Vlogs soon, so I am using it for that. The quality you get off of it is awesome. I love it! Its like my little friend. LOL

I've went with the PlayTouch because of the external mic - It is still a relevant camera and is a wonderful bit of kit to have for those quick on-the-fly video shoots where you need an external mic connected to it to add that little extra bit of polish tied together with the fact you can switch to macro mode for those incredibly close-up views of whatever you are shooting. One more feature NOT mentioned above is that you can use a wireless remote to start and stop recording. I use them regularly for my video shoots and there is nothing more convenient than being able to control ALL of my cameras with one press of a button.
How does Kodak playtouch camera can recording video.
@@davidarzate4643 - It does 1080p video and is a pretty good camera and it has a remote so you can start and stop recording from about 30 feet away if need be.

thanks for all the info :D but i think i am going to go with one of these three, the Kodak PlayTouch, the vado hd 3rd gen, or the Toshiba Camileo X400. the Camileo is probably the best, but i dont think it has the same kind of easy editing and usage as the other 2, so what do you think?
mono audio input kills the deal for me. I make music and I need something that records in stereo. Nice review, you saved me from wasting money.
@eyespy0099 Yes I noticed that as well. It wasn't a major issue IMO but I can see why it could be a bit annoying from time to time.

I pick up a Bloggie . I got it used for 80.00 It was used for a hour then put back in the box.
Really like .I am going to enjoy this camping and taking family videos.

@anp2795 Yea, I saw that right as I finishing uploading the video. It's a hell of a camcorder for $50.
I have the Bloggie and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who doesn't need or want to take photographic pictures! It is very fast take clear and crisp pictures and videos. It's battery life can last for about a day of constant use. This is how it is for me, it may differ for different people.

The most important thing about the Playtouch is that it has the external mic input. If you're going to do a vlog with the Sony's on board mic, good luck to you.
I have the Kodak Playsport myself and it hasn't failed me yet.I have many cameras,a Canon,slr A Nikon digital and Kodak.When I buy something I want to be reliable I tend to stay with a company that has been in the market for the product I am looking for like cameras.Kodak has been in the camera business much longer than Sony.

@collintheapplegeek The iPhone or any other cellphone has a decent camera however there are things that a camcorder still has over them, for example a tripod mount, microphone in and better video quality.
I had the Kodak, took it back for the Bloggie and love it. The only complaint that I have about the bloggie is that it does not support sd cards, but I haven't had too much of an issue with just he 8Gb of on board. Cards would be nice, but you can live without.

Wow, the sound difference between the two was huge.
I've had both these, a flip, both playsports and the samcung w200. I didn't like any, for one reason or another. But decided tog et a Playfull ze1, it was SO cheap but the best camcorder I've had out of any of these.

Ok quick questions about the bloggie...how do you charge it ? does it charge from the usb ?and about the autofocus can you change it to Macro and stuff...cuz u might want blur in front or in the back sometimes..and last is there any other camera at this price recommended for youtube videos HD

These cameras look okay, but I'd just as soon use my iPhone 4. What are your thoughts on those cameras vs. the iPhone 4?

Hey I'm thinking between Kodak Zx5 vs Kodak PlayTouch Zi10. What would you recommend is better? I need it for traveling. I have already a camera so no need for picture option.

I have the bloggie touch. Let me tell you, the bloggie is good for outdoors but not much on the indoors. Also it doesn't work on Mac but only on PCs.
@gstrus2 Really couldn't tell you, I've never tried either. These are a fair bit cheaper though.

Bloggie is the best. I just got one a few days ago and I love it. I'm getting another one too. I got the silver now I'm getting the black. The pictures come out great and videos are cool too

I recommend the bloggie, i make my youtube videos with it and it works pretty good!

it is pretty good, its mainly all I use nowadays.
How much is 8 gig in terms of video recording? Im thinking of getting something like this for traveling, however I wont have access to anywhere for atleast 2 weeks to save the files and start fresh.
so if you buy the playtouch at best buy it will come with all the cables n stuff?
