- Today, I'm going to explain how you setup External Foot Switches and Pedals to work with the BOSS RC-10R Loop Pedal!! Allowing you to custom assign additional functionality to the looper pedal!!
Due to the limited amount of foot switches on the RC-10R, it can sometimes be very difficult to navigate and control the loop pedal!! By using additional foot switches, such as the BOSS FS-6 and FS-7. You can be more creative and have more fun while you are Live Looping!!

Great demo, Ben! I just found out about the Boss FS-7. It's compact and places the footswitches one above the other. Conveniently, the "A" is above the "B." So, the switch closest to you will be control 1!

Is it possible to set controls to stop drum pattern, and select drum patern part 2? I lost the manual.

Can you set it so you use the main units buttons as usual & just use the external footswitch to A - stop the loop with one tap B - stop the Rhythm pattern with one tap . Eg to do away with double taps

Love your videos. Here is my question. I want to use the BossRc10r on a stand and control the drums from my FS-6 foot switch. I don't care about the loops. I just want to be able to start,stop add fills etc from the FS-6, so far I have had no luck getting this function to work. I have a back injury so can not keep bending over to adjust the drum settings, thanks, Gabe Flash.
I would like to be able to use a footswitch to move from phrase memory 1 to to phrase memory 2. Is there a way?
I think there should be? As you can do that on all the other BOSS RC loop pedal!
@@BenRowlandsMusic If you have a clue as to what settings to use, I find the parameter guide not so practical or useful.
Yes you definitely can. If you like you could set a double switch to move up to AND down. Personally for that I would use the Boss FS6 - the size of a regular small pedal with two meaty switches stacked one above the other in a very ergonomic form. You really need to download the parameter list and not be put off by the size of it. Once you get over the fear factor it is very clear and useful. Mostly:).
Great idea/tip shared! I was thinking what to do with FS6 when one has a Katana with 2 GA-type footswitches for banking/sound switches. Had to reset the RC10R to default but worked perfect after that.
Setting up track 2 with the foot switch is really only useful in Parallel mode, right?

Its a pity they havent set it up so the external footswitch has one set of functions while the rhythm is stopped, and another set of functions while its playing. Like it would be good to be able to use CTL1 and 2 to cycle through memory patterns while it is stopped, and when playing be able to do breaks or fills etc.

What footswitch can I use if I want to have the pedal itself off the floor so I dont have to bend over to use all the functions? I have a bad back,plus bending over all the time at a a gig is awkward.
Do you have to use Boss’s footswitch? Or will any other two-button switch do?
Any 'Normally Closed Momentary' type footswitch will work. TRS cable needed for dual button switches. If the switch has two mono jacks instead of a TRS jack you will need a TRS to Dual Mono splitter.
Just to clarify, does this mean I can have the RC10R live on my desk and still have typical start/stop functions with the footswitch on the floor?

Is not working. I dont know what im doing wrong. I have RC -5-00 then -memory - control - CTL 1 loop fx (want to record looper and store in the same track B) and in ctl 2 i choose Rythm P/s Because i want to use the memory rythms. Help please and thanks a lot!

Thank you a thousand times for this video. The expanded operation manual from the boss website tells you what it can do, but doesn't really tell you how to get there. Do you know if you can run two instruments through the fs6 and switch back and forth between A and B direct to the amp? I have an electric bass and an upright. My B channel comes through the amp, and A does not. Do I need a trs cable from my instrument into the A channel? Thanks.

I wondering if I could use the External Pedal to control the Rhythm modes. (4/4 time 3/4 time... different rhythm sets) while doing a solo gig... rather than having to bend over to change it from song to song.

this configuration still leaves it awkward for selecting between the 2 tracks,
If you want A to be CTRL1 & B to be CTRL 2 couldn't you just swap tip and ring over on one Jack plug?
The external pedal has a polarity toggle switch.

Ben, the midi ins/outs are HUGELY important to me....for midiclock....they don't look like normal midi ports (?)..is it a new type of midi cable?

I'm torn really. I have an original Rc20, it still works great for a single track free looping or a bit of quantized jamming. But only one track and it cannot go down between loops only up. So cannot use it for making parts of songs. I play bass and live loop with chords percussion and solo but all with overdub. The extra track is greatly needed maybe even 3 tracks, and the drum machine addition would be nice for jamming with.
But I've heard the rc10r does loop the drums for a while and then you can loop in when you are ready. You cannot record a loop then set drums to it tempoed and quantized on it's own... even the RC20 tempos and clicks if you free loop. Part of me is thinking the rc30 is still the better pedal for general multi track live looping or even with more money the rc300. But I cannot justify 500€ for a 11 year old device...

Unfortunately I don’t own a beat buddy! I was experiencing some MIDI issues though, when I was trying use some of the MIDI features on the device. Which was a shame!

Why would you take a working solution from the pedal, take it off the looper box to a separate pedal? Sounds a complete waste of time and money. If there are advantages( I can’t see any) please explain them. Confused ! - Thank you!

I have absolutley no idea how record one loop and then overdub it with a different guitar tone, whenever i record something on a clean chanel and then want to switch and overdub a distorted meledy, the whole piece changes to distortion, does anyone know how to fix this?
Try putting the RC-10R into the amp effects loop, or right at the end of your pedal chain
Thanks, Ben. If you use the Boss FS6 foot switch, is there a way or a setting to stop the loop while the rhythm continues playing if the pedal is in sync mode? Without a foot switch, if I have it I sync mode and I stop the loop side the loop, the rhythm stops too, even if I stop only the loop.
No, but you could route an expression pedal to the looper side to achieve the same function
@@mlewmisc Thank you. I did use an expression pedal to that end, and ultimately setup a midi controller and other pedals to get the most functionality out of thebRC-10. I added an expression pedal to the loop and one to the rhythm for independent control of each volume, and use a boss fs-6 double footswitch to scroll memories, as it was more efficient than clicking through banks on the midi controller that I sue for the other functions like switching parts or starting and stopping the loops and rhythm with the midi co troller. So, all together, there are four separate footswitch controllers of some sort or another to get the full functionality out of the RC-10 in a small-ish footprint of external pedals. It was worth it, though! I do which Boss had kept more of the controls from the earlier loopers, though.
