Hey Brandon can you please clarify something for me that you mentioned on this video? You said that you can not use a pen style tattoo machine to tattoo on clients unless the grip is disposable or autoclavable. So where does using medical grade chemical disinfectants like Cavicide solution come into use? Cavicide solution states it is an exceptionally fast multi-purpose cleaner that sterilizes hard, non-porous surfaces in dental or clinical environments in 1 minute. Thanking you in advance for helping me understand what is what. 🙏poppy
Cold sterilization is not a perfectly effective way or sterilization also most health departments will make you mark and date your autoclave bags. This means if you don’t have an autoclave and have the grips trying to cold sterilize them the studio will be fined and shut down. There’s just too much that can go wrong with cold sterilization that’s why we wrap everything that can’t be sterilized and also clean it with the appropriate cleaner as well. I hope this helps man. Thanks for the great question.
@@Tattooing101 Thank you Brandon for your speedy reply. @@Tattooing101hey can I get disposables with my Dragonhawk Fold3 Pen? I love this machine, it has 7 adjustable strokes and was in my price range starting out. Mine has a metal grip but I don't think the rest of the pen can be autoclaved and I honestly don't want to autoclave if it's that much of a pain. If mine doesn't have disposable grips can you tell me a pen machine that's under $130 (I got mine on Amazon because it has payments through affirm) but also has to have adjustable strokes. I can't afford multiple machines for shading/lining/color packing.
@@Tattooing101this is really useful, thanks! I’m wondering though - with the power wand, do you take apart the machine and clean the drive bar/motor and then re-lube it every time? Or is wiping down with disinfectant enough, without taking it all apart (providing I’m using disposables).
I love how I managed a veterinary surgical suite for 5 years and no one ever told me the autoclave could EXPLODE (I mean, I assumed that pressurized steam could I just never considered it. The Doc had me start the 'clave every night before we left)

stopped by this video after your other one. definitely helpful and ive been able to narrow down my question/concern which is how do you spot red flags in businesses that claim to have "sterile" supplies (like ink) and what do you do when you first get your stuff like new needles etc (besides stick it in the autoclave and light those jokers up) also are the roses in the background the ones you made in your other tutorials? its really cool
Hi, after a very long time i've decided to get into this beautiful world of tattoo. I've seen some of ur vids and get into the thing of disposable grips. Just bought a DragonHawk TZ560. Then, following ur usefull advices, i should use disposable grips, but, ¿where can i get 'em for this machine in specific?. Do you have any advice with this topic? Thanks for everything. Greetings from Colombia
when you are washing the tubes before bagging them and chucking them into the autoclave, are you brushing them in a sink of hot soapy water with PPE on or anything?
Yep, you’d wash the tubes in a sink with hot, soapy water while wearing full PPE-gloves, mask, and goggles. This helps protect you from any contaminants before bagging them and sterilizing in the autoclave.
Hey Brandon! What do you say to people who refuse to wrap their wash bottles, citing they use a cleaning solution afterwards so they don’t need to wrap them? I recently found myself at the receiving end of quite a bit of backlash for saying it’s proper protocol to wrap the bottle beyond the cap. Any advice on that for fellow advice-givers?
Honestly the best advice I can give is to try to stay away from artists like this because being around them can give a bad name on you. It’s so easy to get the things to cover your equipment and cold sterilization isn’t a perfect thing. You have to let it sit and also everything needs to be covered perfectly. If you done that’s just gross lol
Hey I just watched this video, and I have the mast fold pro 2 and it is a pen style. Will I need disposable grips for that as well? I cannot seem to find a disposable grips option for it
why would you not want to use madacide on your pen machines ? i seen a lot of artist clean their grips and machines with them prior to autoclave process ? is cavicide any better for machine cleaning
I've had alot of people asking me about numbing creams, what are some of the best ones? I've been looking some up but I can't seem to get a straight answer. I've never used numbing cream even on myself.
Hey Brandon, Can i use a high heat dry sterilization machine alongside madicide? If im cold sterilizing before and after use and completely wrapping with barrier film? The machine reaches 220° celcius. And also do i use sterilization bags with the dry sterilization machine? It was advertized as a autoclave but from what you are saying its not.
For an acus that doesn’t have disposable grips, what way would you recommend to sterilize after a tattoo? Is it possible to sterilize it without using an autoclave?
No there isn't, you will need an autoclave if you're not running a fully disposable setup. Some people might say that you can get away with just cold sterilisation but that is not true.
@@Tattooing101 I looked up disposable grips and all I saw were squishy drips you put around the machine. Is that what you’re talking about? If not, can you make a video explaining it for my dumbass? Thanks.

@@shinigamidaikou First thing. Your English is good. I was checking out my machine and I can take the metal tip off and I guess I can change it with a plastic part that I can toss away after each use.
I'm a beginner and I was wondering... Should I sterilize my tattoo machine as if I was tattooing real skin, if I exclusively work on fake skin for now ? I'm worried that fake skin might actually cross contaminate future clients if I'm not cleaning it correctly... Is just wiping it enough if I only tattoo fake skin?
I have a question. I was considered buying a small steam autoclave but i don't understand how the machine works. Do you just leave your supplies there on their own or do you put them in with vacuum bags? How does the whole thing work? Also, sometimes, I've seen, people use ultrasonic cleaner as well. Is that necessary?

Do you need a autoclave for a rotary dragon hawk machine. And can I just use a disposable tattoo grip and clean the machine by hand?

Would it be unsanitary to use a dry heat sterilizer on tubes after cleaning them with alcohol or a medical grade sterilizing agent?

Unless you have an autoclave or are using disposable grips, no you cannot tattoo people without the correct sterilisation process
